청갓과 적갓에 함유된 Glucosinolates의 항암 활성 및 정량 분석

The objective of this study was to compare the anticancer activity of glucosinolates against four different cancer cells; SNU-251, SNU-354, SNU-C4, MCF-7 and to determine the amounts of glucosinolates in mustard leaves. Green and red mustard leaves were cultivated on the field of Rural Development Administration from May to July, 2010. After the leaves were harvest and lypophilized, the fine powder was extracted with boiling 70% methanol(v/v) for the measurement of anticancer activity and then applied to the cancer cells obtained from Korean Cell Line Bank(KCLB). The anticancer activity of red leaf mustard was higher than that of green mustard leaf, particularly in SNU-251 for 24 hr and in SNU-C4 for 48 hr. In both green and red mustard leaf, sinigrin was the most abundant glucosinolte and was determined as 4.71 and 3.06 ㎎/g dry wt., respectively, but glucoiberin only presented 0.14 ㎎/g dry wt. with minor amounts.
자궁 경부 인유두종 바이러스 감염에 대한 세포검사와 DNA 검사의 비교 연구

Purpose: A newly introduced HPV detection technique in cervical intraepithelial lesion, the HPV DNA Chip test, contains 24 HPV probes and has the advantage of being able to detect 24 HPV types simultaneously. The authors performed HPV genotyping test in cervical specimens from September 2005 to March 2006, and compared their cytologic and histologic diagnoses. Subject and Methods: The HPV DNA Chip test was performed in samples of 263 patients. Among these, 49 patients underwent cervical smear cytology and biopsy. Results: In 160 cases (60.8%) of 263 cases, the HPV DNA was detected. HPV-16 (37.5%), HPV-58 (16.3%), HPV-33 (12.5%), and HPV-18 (10.0%) were frequently detected, including single and multiple infections. The multiple HPV infection was found in 31 cases (11.8%). The sensitivity (91.7%) of the HPV genotyping test using the DNA chip method for detecting HSIL or worse was superior compared with the sensitivity (79.2%) of cytologic diagnosis. Conclusions: Our results indicate that HPV DNA chip test can overcome the low sensitivity of cytologic test and improve the sensitivity of the screening test for cervical intraepithelial lesion.
자궁경관에 동시에 병발한 선암과 신경내분비형 소세포암 1예

최근 자궁경부의 소세포암은 조직학적으로 편평세포형 소세포암과 신경내분비형 소세포암으로 구별하고 있으며 이중 자궁경부의 원발성 신경내분비형 소세포암은 폐의 소세포암과 형태학적으로 동일하며 진행 및 전이가 매우 빨라서 예후가 극히 불량한 것으로 알려져 있다. 자궁경부의 신경내분비형 소세포암의 증례 보고는 매우 드물며 더욱이 자궁경관 선암과 병발한 예는 국내외적으로도 몇 예에 불과하다. 이에 저자들은 최근 자궁경관에 신경내분비형 소세포암과 선암이 함께 병발하면서 이미 임파선 전이가 되어있는 예를 경험하여 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Concurrent occurrence of neoplasms, adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma, have been rarely reported to occur in several areas of the body, including gastrointestinal tract, breast, prostate, lung, skin, and kidney. Also concurrent occurrence of adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma in the uterine endocervix is extremely rare. We report a case of concurrent occurrence of primary neruoendocrine type small cell carcinoma and infiltrating adenocarcinoma in the uterine endocervix with multiple pelvic lymph node metastases.

PdCl₂-CuCl₂catalyst supported on activated carbon was examined for the low temperature oxidation of CO. The catalyst developed in the present study was active and stable at ambient conditions if water were existing in the feed gas stream. The addition of Cu(NO₃)₂into the PdCl₂-CuCl₂catalyst significantly enhanced the CO oxidation activity. X-ray diffraction study revealed that the role of Cu(NO₃)₂was to stabilize active Cu(Ⅱ) species, Cu₂Cl(OH)₃, on the catalyst surface which maintains the redox property of palladium. When HCl and SO₂were also existing in the feed, they easily inactivated the catalyst. It was found that HCl and SO₂inhibited the formation of active Cu(Ⅱ) species on the catalyst surface.
자궁목질 바른표본에서 비정형 편평세포의 p16에 대한 면역세포화학염색

It was reported that the main cause of intraepithelial neoplasm and squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix is human papilloma virus infection, and that the expression of p16 is increased in cells infected by human papilloma virus. We performed an immunocytochemical staining for protein p16 in 17 cases of cervocovaginal smears initially diagnosed as atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance, to know whether the staining could help the differentiation of neoplastic cells from reactive atypical cells. Of 17 smears, 6 were diagnosed finally as high grade intraepithelial neoplasm or invasive squamous cell carcinoma by follow-up biopsy and smear, and 5 of the 6 were positive for p16. Three were diagnosed as koilocytosis, and one of them was weakly positive for p16. Eight were diagnosed as reactive atypical cells, and all of them were negative for p16. We thought that immunocytochemical staining of p16 in cervocovaginal smears could help the differentiation of neoplastic cells from reactive atypical cells.
The Expression of Thymidine Phosphorylase in Cancer-infiltratingInflammatory Cells in Stomach Cancer

Thymidine phosphorylase (TP) has shown to be up-regulated in several cancers and to play a role in angiogenesis and invasion. Most studies regarding TP have focused on cancer cells. Recently, evidences suggest that TP in cancer-infiltrating inflammatory cells (CIICs) also affect the cancer cell behavior. To evaluate the significance of TP expression of CIICs in gastric cancer, we assessed TP expression of cancer cells and CIICs separately using immunohistochemical assay on 116 paraffin-embedded tissue samples from stomach cancer patients and investigated their clinical significance. When subjects were divided into 4 groups according to the TP expression: cancer/matrix (+/+), C/M (+/-), C/M (-/+), and C/M (-/-), intratumoral microvessel density scores were higher in the C/M (+/-) group than in the C/M (-/-) group (p=0.02). For lymph node metastasis and survival, there were no significant differences among the 4 groups. However, there were significant differences in survival (p=0.035) and LN metastasis (p=0.023) between the two groups divided by TP expression of CIICs alone irrespective of TP expression of cancer cells. Taken together, this study suggested the TP expression in CIICs could affect lymph node metastasis and patients’ survival in gastric cancer.
