Objective: Hypoactivity in the reward system among patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a well-known phenomenon. Whether the activity in the reward pathway is related to harm avoidance, such as in sensitivity to punishment, is unclear. Evidence regarding the potential difference between ADHD patients and controls in terms of this association is scarce. Methods: Event-related functional magnetic resonance imaging was conducted on subjects performing the Iowa gambling test. Fourteen adults with ADHD and 14 controls were enrolled in the study. Results: Harm avoidance was found to be positively correlated with the activities of the bilateral orbitofrontal cortex and right insula in individuals with ADHD. A group difference was also confirmed. Conclusion: Understanding the roles of harm avoidance and brain activation during risk tasks is important.
Any change of bladder function after pelvic floor reconstruction surgery?
( Tsung-hsien Su ) 대한산부인과학회 2016 대한산부인과학회 학술대회 Vol.102 No.-
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is becoming a common problem as life expectancy increases and the global population ages. Genital prolapse is associated with various lower urinary tract symptoms, particularly stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Concomitant SUI in patients with prolapse is reported to be as high as 63 % [1], while occult SUI, defined as urine leakage after prolapse reduction, is reported to be 36-80 % in continent women with POP [2,3], while 28-33 % of women who are asymptomatic for SUI before prolapse repair develop de novo SUI after mesh repairs [4,5]. To treat concomitant or occult SUI and prevent de novo SUI, anti-incontinence surgery is often undertaken simultaneously with prolapse repair surgery. However, concomitant anti-incontinence surgery is still debatable and not universally performed, because it carries risks and may not benefit all patients. On the other hand, several studies have reported the successful treatment of both prolapse and stress incontinence by vaginal mesh repair surgery only, without an additional sub-urethral sling [6,7]. A trans-obturator sub-vesical mesh is similar to that of a trans-obturator sling, creating a hammock under the proximal urethra to cure not only the prolapse but also the stress incontinence. Is there any standard strategy in performing concomitant anti-incontinence surgery with prolapse repair? The topic today is to present the impact of POP surgery on bladder function, including stress urinary incontinence, detrusor overactivity, and voiding dysfunction.
Rosmarinus officinalis Extract Suppresses Propionibacterium acnes–Induced Inflammatory Responses

Propionibacterium acnes is a key pathogen involved in the progression of acne inflammation. The development of a new agent possessing antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity against P. acnes is therefore of interest. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) extract on P. acnes–induced inflammation in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that ethanolic rosemary extract (ERE) significantly suppressed the secretion and mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-8, IL-1β, and tumor necrosis factor-α in P. acnes–stimulated monocytic THP-1 cells. In an in vivo mouse model, concomitant intradermal injection of ERE attenuated the P. acnes–induced ear swelling and granulomatous inflammation. Since ERE suppressed the P. acnes–induced nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) activation and mRNA expression of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2, the suppressive effect of ERE might be due, at least partially, to diminished NF-κB activation and TLR2-mediated signaling pathways. Furthermore, three major constituents of ERE, carnosol, carnosic acid, and rosmarinic acid, exerted different immumodulatory activities in vitro. In brief, rosmarinic acid significantly suppressed IL-8 production, while the other two compounds inhibited IL-1β production. Further study is needed to explore the role of bioactive compounds of rosemary in mitigation of P. acnes–induced inflammation.

Objective: Bipolar disorder (BD) is characterized by the poor sleep quality. Whether the striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) availability is related to sleep quality among patients with BD is unclear. Methods: Fifty-three euthymic patients with BD (24 BD-I and 29 BD-II) and sixty-eight healthy controls were enrolled. The Chinese Version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used, and the availability of DAT was assessed by single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) using [99mTc] TRODAT-1. Results: The sleep disturbance component of the PSQI was significantly associated with the level of DAT availability among patients with BD. Conclusion: The striatal dopaminergic activity that contributes to resilience to adversity was associated with sleep pattern among patients with BD.

Nonequilibrium Backreaction on a Moving Charge and Mirror in Quantum Fields
Jen-Tsung Hsiang,Da-Shin Lee,Chun-Hsien Wu 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.2I
Backreaction on a nonrelativistic moving charge and mirror under the influence of quantum fields is studied. We employ the closed-time-path formalism to obtain the influence functional by tracing out quantum fields. The respective semiclassical Langevin equation is derived and can be used to describe the stochastic behavior on its mean trajectory with a self-consistent backreaction. In particular, when backreaction dissipation and fluctuations are taken into account, the corresponding fluctuation-dissipation theorem obtained from the first-principles derivation must be fulfilled. The implications of the results from solving the semiclassical Langevin equation are discussed.웗
