A bacterium producing five fibrinolytic isozymes was isolated from black bean chung kuk. The bacterium was identified as Bacillus subtilis BB-1 by 16s rDNA sequence homology search. A gene out of five fibrinolytic genes in the Bacillus subtilis BB-1 was cloned by shot-gun method. A Cla ⅠDNA fragment of B. subtilis BB-1 chromosome was cloned in to pBluescript ⅡSK(-) and showed the fibrinolytic activity to bacterial cells. The Cla ⅠDNA fragment was sequenced and the sequences did not show homology with gene for protease or fibrinolytic enzyme genes in other organisms. The Cla ⅠDNA fragment was reduced to 2,142 bp by activity-guided PCR cloning method. The optimum pH and temperature of the enzyme were 5.0 and 35℃, respectively. Substrate specificity of the fibrinolytic enzyme was detected in skim milk, casein, gelatin and blood agar plates. The activity of the enzyme was not detected with these substrates. Taken together, this enzyme is a new fibrinolytic enzyme and may be used to prevent thrombosis and arteriosclerosis.

Objectives: To determine the discriminative criteria for Atractylodes rhizomes, the experiment of external-internal characteristics and physicochemical pattern analysis were performed. Methods: External characteristics was observed using stereoscope. The sectioned materials which were covered with parffin were stained by Ju`s method. Physicochemical patterns were analyzed using HPLC/DAD. Results: 1. External shape of original plant: Atractylodes macrocephala and A. japonica had relatively long petioles and 3-5 parted leaves. A. macrocephala had big purple flowers whereas A. japonica had relatively small white flowers and pinnate bracts. A. lancea had sessile leaves and white flowers, and the end parts of degenerated stamens were bent. 2. External shape of herbal medicine: A. macrocephala which was fist-shaped rhizome had pa-pillate processes and the cross section was light gray and sulcate. A. japonica and A. lancea were connected-beady or tubercular rhizomes, and the cross sections were both yellow-colored white. However, the cross section of A. japonica was fibrous, the width of cortex was narro-wer than that of stele, and radial shape in cortex was rare, whereas the width of cortex in A. lancea was similar to that of stele in size, and radial shape in cortex was obvious. 3. Internal shape of herbal medicine: A. macrocephala and A. lancea did not have lignified fascicles in cortex. However, the vascular bundles and vessels of A. macrocephala were wedge shaped and radial arrangement, and vascular bundles were densely populated in stele whereas those of A. lancea were repeatedly arranged and thinly extended to cortex. A. japonica had lignified fascicles in cortex and the width of vascular bundles was conspicuously thick with narrow intervals. 4. Physicochemical pattern analysis: A. macrocephala and A. lancea contained atractylenolide Ⅰ and atractylenolide Ⅲ whereas A. japonica contained atractylenolide Ⅰ, atractylenolide Ⅲ, diacetyl-atractylodiol, compound-4, compound-5. The three species of Atractylodes rhizomes showed different chromatogram patterns. Conclusions: The results could be used as discriminative criteria for Atractylodes rhizomes and as fundamental materials to researches of further pattern analysis and biological reaction.

Objectives: To determine the standards for discrimination of Magnoliae Cortex, the experiment of specific external-internal characters and the physicochemical pattern analysis were performed. Methods: External characteristics was observed using a stereoscope. Paraffin-mediated sectioned materials were stained by Ju`s method. Physicochemical patterns of materials were analyzed using HPLC. Results: 1. Botanical characteristics: Magnolia officinalis had one seed and a white flower, while M. obovata had two seeds and a white flower. Machilus thunbergii had berry and spherical fruits and yellowish green panicles. 2. External characteristics: M. officinalis and M. obovata were dark and thick. M. officinalis was gray brown and greasy while M. obovata was light-gray, less oily and smoothly sectioned. Machilus thunbergii was thin and relatively light or yellow-brown, coarsely sectioned and faintly specific scents. 3. Internal characteristics: The bast parts of M. officinalis and M. obovata were commonly wider than Machilus thunbergii. The cork cortex of M. officinalis was 10~mg/L cell layers with many oil cells, while that of M. obovata was 4~7 cell layers with less oil cells. Machilus thunbergiis xylem which consisted of ring-shaped cambium at 1st and 2nd part was occupied in large portion. 4. Physicochemical pattern: Both M. officinalis and M. obovata involved honokiol and magnolol. All kinds of M. officinalis involved Magnatriol B but one kind of M. ovobata and all of Machilus thunbergii didn`t. Machilus thunbergii showed different pattern of chromatogram from that of 2 species above. Conclusions: These results could be used as standards for discrimination of Magnoliae Cortex and as the method of objectification in medicinal herbs giving the basic resource for bioactivity research.

Objectives: This study aimed for establishing the discriminative criteria for Aucklandiae Radix, Inulae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix and Aristolochiae Radix, which can be confused as 'Mokhyang', because of similar appearances and synonyms. Methods: Morphological characteristics of dried herbal medicines were compared by macroscopic observation. To examine microscopic features of 'Mokhyang', paraffin embedding and the staining by using Ju's method were conducted. Physicochemical experiments were performed using HPLC analysis and antioxidant assay. Results: The types of stem, phyllotaxy and leaf shape were chosen as macroscopic criteria and the size, oil spots, color and root top as well as phloem and central cylinder were compared using microscopic features. The HPLC results showed different amounts of costunolide and dehydrocostuslactone among Aucklandiae Radix, Inulae Radix and Vladimiriae Radix. However, Aristolochiae Radix only contained aristolochic acid. The antioxidant assays also showed that Vladimiriae Radix exhibited strongest antioxidant activity followed by Aucklandiae Radix, Inulae Radix and Aristolochiae Radix. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that macroscopic, microscopic and physicochemical methods would be useful tools for the discrimination of 4 kinds of 'Mokhyang'.

QLF-D system composed with DSLR(digital single-lens reflex) camera, and the images of natural enamel caries and artificial caries was developed from 2 days to 14 days captured by QLF-D system. The correlation between lesion depth of the polarized microscope and luminosity ratio of QLF-D image was analyzed and the results were summarized as follows: 1. The Pearson correlation value between the lesion depth of polarized microscope images and luminosity ratio of QLF-D images was 0.969(p<0.01). 2. From Regression analysis of lesion depth from polarized image by demineralized period, the equation was y = 8.67x - 1.16(p<0.05). 3. From Regression analysis of luminosity ratio from QLF-D image by demineralized period, the equation was y = 3.53x + 6.42(p<0.05). From the results, QLF-D system can detect the enamel caries at the very early stage and can monitor the progression of demineralization and remineralization. For the convenient use of QLF-D system in the laboratory, the image analysing software was needed to analyze of interest site of enamel caries lesion. 저자는 DSLR(digital single-lens reflex) 카메라를 이용한 QLF-D 시스템을 고안하여, 사람의 유구치에 자연 발생된 법 랑질 초기 우식증을 관찰하고, 유구치 법랑질 시편을 대상으로 2일부터 14일까지 인공 탈회시킨 후 탈회 기간에 따른 상관관 계를 편광 현미경 소견과 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 탈회 기간에 따른 편광 현미경 상의 병소 깊이와 QLF-D 영상의 광밀도 값 비율 간의 피어슨 상관 계수는 0.969였다 (p<0.01). 2. 편광현미경에서 측정된 병소 깊이의 탈회 기간에 대한 회귀분석 결과 y=8.67x-1.16의 회귀 방정식이 산출되었다 (p<0.05). 3. QLF-D 영상에서 측정된 광도값 비율의 탈회 기간에 대한 회귀분석 결과 y=3.53x+6.42의 회귀 방정식이 산출되었다 (p<0.05).

The zebrafish (Danio rerio) is now the prominent vertebrate model system for clarification of the roles of specific genes and signaling pathways in development. Zebrafish embryos provide many advantages for experimental and genetic analysis of vascular development. In this study we describe the use of zebrafish model system for the experimental study of angiogenesis. We established several technical methods to define cellular and molecular alterations in vascular development; whole-mount in situ hybridization, microangiography, and alkaline phosphatase staining. We also introduced the overexpression experiments by using in vitro-transcribed synthetic mRNAs and vascular-specific gene promoters. For the gene knock-down analyses, we challenged morpholino antisense oligonucleotide system. With these efforts, the zebrafish might be used as a powerful tool for the screening of effective angiogenic factors.
지상파 디지털 멀티미디어 방송 시스템을 위한 파이프라인 구조의 IFFT/FFT 모듈

In this paper, we propose an implementation result for Multi complex point pipelined IFFT/FFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform/Fast Fourier Transform) in terms of sequential data processing. We compared four types of IFFT/FFT modules for the hardware complexity and operation for IEEE 802.11a-1999. In order to minimize the error, we design the IFFT/FFT module to operate with additional decimal parts after butterfly operation. In case of the R22SDF(Radix-2 Single-path Delay Feedback), the IFFT/FFT module has low gate counts excluding RAMs and the minimized error rate as compared with other types. Therefore we choose the pipelined R22SDF architecture IFFT/FFT for DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) System.
다량의 하부위장관출혈이 병발된 Vibrio vulnificus 패혈증 1예

최근 저자들은 Vibrio vulnificus 감염에 의해 패혈증 및 이차성 피부 병변을 보인 42세의 남자 환자의 치료중 하부 위장관 출혈이 병발된 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. We experienced a case of Vibrop vulnificus septicemia which showed an unusual manifestation such as hematochezia. The patient was a 42-year-old man with chronic liver disease. The blood and wound culture revealed the organism. During intensive care, he suffered from massive hematochezi for several days. Colonoscopy and abdominal CT showed findings suspicious of ischemic colitis. To our knowledge, this is the first unusual case of V.vulnificus infection which showed massive lower gastrointestinal bleeding.
