Vol.66 No.1-3

This research is about success and role conflict in which through the use of questionnaires success perception, success attributes, role conflicts in the success pursuit process, and coping methods have been surveyed. Result is summarized as following: above all, the meaning of success appeared differently to men and women. Standards of mens success are mainly occupation, economic power and ability, on the other hand, womens success is happy family. In the items to measure the degree of success, general success evaluation scores are high, however, the sex difference is not appeared. On the other side, as a result of the survey to find out how success perception relates to personality of the individual person, androgynous trait is the most important personality characteristic in all aspects of success. And as male trait is important in occupation of success perception, female is in family and interpersonal relationship. Attribution of the success cause appeared in order of ability, effort, interest, and aptitude consistently with the general success groups attribution pattern. Analysis of conflicts meeting in the process of success pursuit, cause of conflicts pointed out to be at work is job dissatisfaction, problem of parelling work and family at the same time, conflict with boss, and differences in values at the job. And in family the cause is children, economics, family health, conflicts with in-laws and there to with spouse. In the result, there appears to be no difference in work or family in coping methods of these conflict phenomenon. However, in the group which actively tries to find coping method showed sex differences. There appeared more response in women as to men to look for where can give out help. Where as in the inactive coping group, high response in men appeared to stick with the methods of previous problem solving. These results show necessity of not only women counseling centering those women who need help, but also men counseling for those men who do not seem to recognize the apparent necessity of counseling. However, in order to get the counseling effect, it needs an approach in where clients traits are carefully considered. In a time context where success is emphasized, it is earnestly needed to recognize various problems of success, to understand those conflict phenomena produced in the success process, and to seek coping methods for these. Accordingly, through counseling procedures and vast amount of knowledge about success and its various problems should be reflected in counseling. Therefore to seek ways and means to help and individual for further successful adjustment.

Focussed on the girls of Primary, middle and high Schools in Chun Cheon

Vol.25 No.-

I divide 313 girls from primary, junior and senior high schools in Chun Cheon City into two groups-one is personal group(210 girls) and the other is comparison group (103 girls) continuing dancing action. and measure six clements of physical fitness ; Strength, power, flexibility, Agility, Balance, Endurance. Analysis shows as follows; 1. Increase rate of comparison group is higher than that of personal group, though increase in all elements is the same phenomena of both groups as they grow. 2. Comparison group is superior to personal group in every measurement excluding grip strength, one of strength elements. Especially, much superior in the flexibility, power and endurance. The fact that Comparison group continuing dancing action is much superior to personal group in every element of physical fitness indicates that dancing action contributes to increase physical fitness in the whole elements. This is again to emphasize the necessity and importance of dancing education in the field of school education.

Vol.16 No.1

Edward Albee's The American Dream and Sam Shepard's Buried Child are plays of social criticisms. In the plays, the two playwrights criticize modern American society. To them American society is full of problems. They both attack the American people's wrong ideas and wrong doings. The fact that Grandma in The American Dream calls a crippled young man "the American Dream" tells the whole story. The fact that Dodge's two sons are not sound in body or in mind means the same thing.

      • The Homecoming

Vol.15 No.1

The premiere of Harold Pinter's third full-length play, The Homecoming, is said to have bewildered London play-goers. To the audience, the play was very intersting, but it was also shocking. The question "What is the meaning of the play?" rose in them and baffled them. Over the long period of twenty-odd years, various critics have tried to find out the meaning of the play as a whole, and they have contributed to its understanding, but they have failed to scoop up all the meaningful elements in it. Each of the critics have thought of one particular term, or phrase, to define the play, and tried to interpret exclusively in that term. And that was the cause of their failure to tell us the whole meaning. This paper does not present any novel interpretation. It tries to integrate the previous critics' views and comments. It finds that not one but most of 'Pinteresque' themes and elements are in the play. It looks upon the last scene as the culmination of the play and refers to it several times to claim that the last scene contains the whole story, and that the scene borders on an ambiguous poetic symbol.

Vol.22 No.1

. In his "family trilogy" Sam Shepard turned his back on the loose, rambling structure and verbal pyrotechnics that marked so many of his earlier plays. When he wrote Curse of the Starving Class, he felt that realism was the form his work should take. And he moved toward a more and more realistic style as he moved to the writing of his second (Buried Child) and third (True West) play of his "family trilogy" His "family trilogy" is composed of three family plays. Each of the three plays deals with the relationship between family members. Curse of the Starving Class is concerned with the relation between the son and the father, Buried Child is about the relations between all the members, and True West is about the relation between the two brothers. Only showing the relations between the members of those families is not the aim of those plays, but warning against the problems faced by America today is the real aim.
