Applying HOG Feature to the Detection and Tracking of a Human on a Bicycle

Detection of a human on a bicycle is an important research subject in an advanced safety vehicle driving system to decrease traffic accidents. The Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature has been proposed as useful feature for detecting a standing human in various kinds of background. So, many researchers use currently the HOG feature to detect a human. Detecting a human on a bicycle is more difficult than detecting a human because a bicycle’s appearance can change dramatically according to viewpoints. In this paper, we propose a method of detecting a human on a bicycle using HOG feature and RealAdaboost algorithm. When detecting a human on a bicycle, occlusion is a cause of decreasing detection efficiency. Occlusion is a serious matter in car vision research because there are occlusions in real transportation environment. We decide the next position of a human on a bicycle using object tracking. Experimental results and evaluation show satisfactory performance of the proposed method.

Traffic accidents are decreasing under the influence of technology advancement. But the problems still remain that accidents occur due to carelessness of drivers. Therefore many researchers have been still studying to realize an advanced safety system. The Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) feature is well known as a useful method of detecting a standing human in various kinds of the background. Unlike a human, a bicycle changes its appearance variously according to viewpoints. Hence, it is more difficult than detecting a human. In this paper, we propose a method of detecting a human on a bicycle using the Multiple-size Cell HOG (MSC-HOG) feature and the RealAdaboost algorithm. Experimental results and evaluation show satisfactory performance of the proposed method.
A set of One-to-Many Edge-Disjoint and Shortest Paths on Recursive Circulant Networks

The recursive circulant network (RCN) G(N, d) proposed by Park and Chwa [13] can be widely used in the design and implementation of parallel processing architectures. It consists of N identical nodes, each node having degree m is connected through bidirectional, point-to-point communication channels to different neighbors by jumping d<SUP>i</SUP>, where 0 ≤ i ≤ 「logdN」 - 1. In this paper; we investigate the routing of a message on G(2<SUP>m</SUP>, 4), a special kind of RCN, that is key to the performance of this network. On G(2<SUP>m</SUP>,4) we would like to transmit m packets from a source node to m destination nodes simultaneously along paths on this network, the i<SUP>th</SUP> packet will be transmitted along the ith path (0 ≤ i ≤ m - 1). In order for all packets to arrive at a destination node quickly and securely, we present an O(m<SUP>3</SUP>) routing algorithm on G(2<SUP>m</SUP>, 4) for generating a set of one-to¬many edge-disjoint and shortest paths employing the Hungarian method.
엔진 커넥팅로드 좌굴 평가를 위한 CAE(Computer Aided Engineering) 기법 개발 및 활용

In the buckling analysis of structures, Merchant-Rankine formula is a very powerful method, which predicts critical buckling load, considering both elastic buckling load and plastic material behavior. Unfortunately because of shape gradient, we can't apply this method to connecting rod. In this study, we developed a new buckling estimation method based on Merchant-Rankine formula using CAE. This new method was verified by buckling test and applied several connecting rods. As a result, it is found that critical buckling load of connecting rod is affected by plastic buckling of buckling estimation method.

To improve the reliability of a weapon system, we perform the activities: setting the target reliability, reliability allocation, and reliability management, etc. Before starting weapon system development, the target reliability of system is set through advanced research and is allocated to its subsystems at the beginning of development. Then we manage the reliability of system and subsystems to meet the target reliability until completion of system development. In this paper, we research representative reliability allocation methods and introduce the suitable reliability allocation method followed by its application to the underwater guided weapon system. The purpose of this research is to review the proposed reliability allocation techniques and find an appropriate method for underwater weapon systems followed by the validation of its application.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which is quantitative assessment method considering inflow and outflow along with raw material acquisition, manufacturing and use step, was used to compare environmental load of diesel and gasoline engine. The result indicates that diesel engine has relatively lower environmental load on abiotic resource depletion, global warming, ozone depletion, photochemical oxidant creation, and winter smog than gasoline engine, while gasoline engine has relatively lower environmental load on acidification, eutrophication, and respiratory effect than diesel engine

본 논문에서는 원통형 배터리(Samsung INR18650-30Q) 130회 충방전 사이클 실험으로 획득한 데이터를 통해 배터리의 전기적 등가회로(ECM) 모델에 적용되는 배터리 내부 파라미터의 노화 분석결과를 제시한다. 또한 가변 전압편차를 적용한 패시브 밸런싱 방법의 조건식을 제시하고 4직렬 연결된 배터리 모듈의 장기 충 방전 사이클 시뮬레이션을 통해 fresh 상태와 노화된 상태의 밸런싱 제어 결과를 통해 제안된 방법의 타당성을 보인다.

Purpose: Accidents related to explosives are infrequent, but when they occur, they can be fatal. In the case of missiles containing large amounts of explosives, safety design is of utmost importance. However, researches on quantitative indexes for managing safety design activities and interest in safety design are lacking. Therefore, it is necessary to develop quantitative management indexes for implementing safety controls at the design level and secure safety through the safety design process in the development of missiles. Methods: In this study, we propose a safety design process for missile development with hazard identification and risk assessment based on the MIL-STD-882E standard. Moreover, we develop quantitative management indexes (SMR, RAR) for controlling safety at the design level. The feasibility and effectiveness of these indexes are verified through case studies. Results: A hazard analysis was performed on a missile system under development, and 26 unacceptable hazards were identified. Then, the problems affecting the existing safety protocols were identified using the proposed quantitative management indexes (SMR, RAR). Conclusion: The implementation of a safety design process based on quantitative management indexes (SMR, RAR) from the early stages of research and development can improve the safety of missiles.
