Learner Autonomy in EFL Reading with Digital Technology at Secondary School Level
Heewon Choi,Chung Hyun Lee 아시아영어교육학회 2020 The Journal of Asia TEFL Vol.17 No.4
Screenagers today may not have any difficulties in using digital technology for everyday social and entertainment purposes, but the extent to which they can make effective use of it for their own learning has not yet been fully explored. The purpose of the study is to investigate secondary school students’ autonomous learning and perspectives on the use of digital technology in EFL reading. With a total of 275 middle school students in Gyeongsang-do area of South Korea, the research was carried out in a mixed method. The data was collected through a survey questionnaire, supplemented by interviews. The results identified 60.4% of participants as autonomous learners in reading with digital technology. The level of learner autonomy was also positive for the five categories. The students’ perspectives are slightly positive (52.2%) towards the use of digital technology in autonomous reading. While recognizing its usefulness, they were neither interested nor motivated in the use of digital technology in autonomous reading. Grade three responded most negatively in terms of their perspectives on the use of it. It is suggested that teachers should promote the students’ enjoyable reading by exposing it to various useful resources and monitoring their progress.

The cathode active material, which is one of the four elements constituting a lithium-ion battery (LIB), determines the capacity and power of the battery, making it an important factor that determines the performance of the battery. In this study, NCM, LFP, and LMO, which are representative cathode active materials of LIBs based on electrochemistry, were applied to 18650 cylindrical battery cells. They were expanded to a battery pack model to be mounted on an electric vehicle (EV) to compare and analyze the battery performance according to the application of different cathode active materials. The battery modeling was based on a database provided by the Gamma Technologies LIB simulation, GT-AutoLion. To analyze the thermal stability according to the temperature and the capacity loss of the battery cell resulting from the different C-rate discharges for each positive electrode active material, an electrochemical-based 1D analysis was performed.
Klotho : Expression and Regulation at the Maternal-Conceptus Interface in Pigs

Klotho (KL) is a single transmembrane protein composed of KL1 and KL2 repeats possessing β-glucuronidase activity and maintains calcium homeostasis in physiological state. It has been implicated in pigs that calcium is important for the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy, and our previous study has shown that transient receptor potential vanilloid type 6 (TRPV6), a calcium ion transporter, is predominantly expressed in the uterine endometrium during pregnancy in pigs. However, expression and function of KL in the uterine endometrium has not been determined in pigs. Thus, the present study determined expression and regulation of KL in the uterine endometrium during the estrous cycle and pregnancy in pigs. Real-time RT-PCR analysis showed that levels of KL mRNA decreased between Days 12 to 15 of the estrous cycle, and its expression showed a biphasic manner during pregnancy. KL mRNA was expressed in conceptuses and in chorioallantoic tissues during pregnancy. Explant culture study showed that expression levels of KL were not affected by treatment of steroid hormones or interleukin-1beta during the implantation period. Furthermore, levels of KL mRNA in the uterine endometrium from gilts carrying somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT)- derived embryos were significantly lower than those from gilts carrying natural mating-derived embryos on Day 12 of pregnancy. These results exhibited that KL was expressed at the maternal-conceptus interface in a pregnancy statusand stage-specific manner, and its expression was affected by SCNT procedure, suggesting that KL may play an important role in the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy in pigs.

<P>During the implantation period, the porcine conceptus secretes interleukin-1beta (IL1B) that may be involved in the establishment of pregnancy in pigs. However, the regulatory mechanism for IL1B receptor expression and the function of IL1B in the uterine endometrium are not well elucidated. In this study, we determined IL1B receptor expression in the uterine endometrium of pigs during pregnancy. IL1B receptor subtypes, IL1 receptor type I (IL1R1) and IL1 receptor accessory protein (IL1RAP) were expressed in the uterine endometrium with the expression being most abundant on Day 12 of pregnancy primarily in the luminal and glandular epithelial cells. Expression of IL1R1 mRNA increased in response to IL1B in a dose-dependent manner, and expression of IL1RAP mRNA increased in response to both IL1B and estradiol, indicating that expression of endometrial IL1B receptors was regulated cooperatively by IL1B and estrogen of conceptus origin. During the peri-implantation period, the porcine uterine endometrium actively synthesizes and secretes prostaglandins (PGs). IL1B increased expression of PTGS1 and PTGS2 genes that are rate-limiting for PG synthesis in the uterine endometrium. Collectively, the results indicated that IL1B regulates expression of IL1R1 and IL1RAP and stimulates expression of PTGS1 and PTGS2 that are considered to be the most rate-limiting enzymes for endometrial synthesis of PGs during the peri-implantation period of pregnancy in pigs.</P>

최희원(Heewon Choi),고병현(Byunghyun Ko),원동욱(Donguk Won),여하영(Hayoung Yeo),윤원주(Wonjoo Yun) 한국외국어대학교 글로벌경영연구소 2021 글로벌경영연구 = Journal of global business research Vol.33 No.2
The purpose of this study is to analyze and propose an optimal location for a smart bus stop using GIS(Geographic Information System) and CSR (Comprehensive Ranking System). The target area of the study is Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. In the case of optimal location of public smart facilities, unlike existing public facilities, they have the characteristics of a comprehensive platform involving multiple elements. Therefore, those factors should be considered in the selection of the optimal location of smart bus stops which makes our study significant. We quantify the air pollution level, proficiency of advertisements, safety vulnerability, and digital vulnerability of all bus stops in Changwon-si to compute as indicators. We rank the top 30 smart bus stops and visualize them on a geographical map.

As electric vehicles become more widespread, the development of mobile charging systems has been actively developed to improve charging convenience. A typical mobile charging system requires a battery for storing electrical energy, as well as a power converter with a large volume and weight. Therefore, there is a limitation in that the overall size or weight is increased and mobility or portability is poor. In this paper, we propose a battery-to-vehicle mobile charging system that does not require a separate power converter by utilizing the On Board Charger in an electric vehicle. The battery-to-vehicle charging system has the effect of reducing cost and reducing size because the power converter can be removed from a typical mobile charging system.
