Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the relationship between depression and eating disorders among college students of northern Gyeonggi-do in Korea. Methods: This was a self-report study, targeting a total number of 481 college students. We used the eating attitudes test-26 (EAT-26) to identify participants with eating disorders, while the degree of depression was evaluated by a self-diagnostic test composed of 10 questions. Results: Among the participants, 18.9% were found to have an eating disorder (91 out of 481 participants). The depression score for students with eating disorders was markedly higher (4.73points) than that for students with normal eating habits (2.57 points). We noted a statistically significant association between eating disorder and depression. Specifically, when depression score increased by 1 point, the risk of eating disorder was 1.31 times higher. Additional factors that increased the risk of having eating disorders besides depression were eating late, weight loss, degree of stress, and satisfaction with one`s appearance. Conclusions: In this study, we found that depression plays an important role in the development of eating disorders. Therefore, it is need to develop programs to promote right eating habits and prevent depression for college students.

To develop fast and sensitive biomarkers for metal exposures in Antarctic marine organisms, we examined histological alterations of an Antarctic sentinel bivalve species Laternula elliptica following a short-term exposure to a sublethal-level of Cd. Distinct histological alterations of tissues and cells of the gills, kidneys, and digestive glands were observed after 8- to 16- hours of exposure to Cd, while an increase of Cd concentrations in tissues was not detectable. Most alterations were highly localized in the epithelium of the three tissues; epithelia were found to be detached from the remaining tissue parts. In addition, ultrastructural changes such as cytosolic vacuolization, dilation of nucleus and rER membranes were detected in all three tissues, which suggested that the clams are subject to sublethal stresses. Thus, histological and ultrastructural changes on localized tissue parts were rapid and sensitive, suggesting that they may serve biomarkers for Cd exposures. Linkages between the shown ultrastructural changes and higher biological organization level responses are to be established by longer-term exposure experiments.
Learning to Box: Reinforcement Learning using Heuristic Three-step Curriculum Learning
Heeseon Rho,Yeonguk Yu,Kyoobin Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2022 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2022 No.11
The reinforcement learning paradigm is a widely used approach to solving sequential problems. In this paper, we utilized reinforcement learning with curriculum learning to train the agent to play boxing without any human demonstration. We presented as a curriculum three steps for a single agent to learn boxing: standing, walking and punching. The agent who learned through the proposed curriculum successfully threw a jab into a punching bag, but the agent who trained to punch from the beginning did not. Not only did we show the effectiveness of curriculum learning in single-agent boxing, but we also showed that the agent could play boxing without human demonstrations.
The Effects of Maternity Leave Benefits on Labor Market Outcomes
Heeseon Choi 서울대학교 경제연구소 2003 Seoul journal of economics Vol.16 No.4
This paper investigates the effects of maternity leave benefits on the labor market outcomes of mothers with newborn babies in the United States. This paper estimates the effect of maternity leave benefits after controlling for substantial intrinsic differences between maternity leave covered and uncovered workers. The fixed effects estimation method is used to analyze the wage effect. Also, more explanatory variables are added to control for heterogeneity in the analysis of the turnover and employment effects. The results support the hypothesis that maternity leave coverage is beneficial on women's labor market outcomes. Maternity leave significantly lessens turnover one year after' childbirth, and is closely related with more employment outcomes after childbirth. Maternity leave also provides beneficial effect on wage profiles especially through encouraging covered women to work more hours. Maternity leave covered workers have maintained far steeper wage profiles before giving birth than uncovered workers. However, wage premium from maternity leave coverage is not large enough to cancel the negative effects of childbearing. Also, uncovered workers who start new jobs see their wages "rebound" after giving birth. This makes the slope of hourly wage profiles of uncovered workers similar with those of covered workers after giving birth.

< The Danish Girl > is based on a true story of the first transgender individual. It portrays psychological changes visually during the protagonist's confusion with self-identity based on gender. This study analyzes gender identity in contemporary fashion intensively based on gender images and costumes appearing in the film < The Danish Girl >. In the society lacking a fixed gender image, this study provides a timely insight into gender identities by analyzing the fashions depicted in the movie. The movie is a true story of the first transgender person working hard to determine his or her own gender identity. As a research method, the theoretical basis of genderless approach was established via literature review. The characteristics of genderless identity were determined by dividing the movie into established and ambiguous gender periods to analyze the comprehensive changes in costumes for comparison. Einer Wagner representing male identity portrays men's fashion whereas Lily Elbe representing female identity depicts women's fashion. While the two different genders find their places in a single body, the confusion creates genderless fashion. By dividing these phases into femininity, masculinity and genderless categories, each costume was analyzed comprehensively, and the images of relatively changing fashion were studied by altering the gender identity. Four characteristics including androgyne, rebellion, pleasure and balance were derived from the gender identity based on Fashion in < The Danish Girl >.
