• Exploring the Roles of Servicescape and Trust in Chinese Restaurants in Taiwan

        Hao-Te,LU Richard Warr 세계문화관광학회 2010 Conference Proceedings Vol.11 No.0

While literature focusing on the constructs of the environmental factors of servicescape and trust are relatively common in Western countries, the empirical studies which focus on the Chinese context of the restaurant service sector are rather limited and need to be expanded. The purpose of this study is to fill in some of this gap in research by analysing the relationships between servicescape, trust and customers’ choice of restaurant within the Chinese cultural society in Taiwan. This study concludes that trust has a very strong positive association for customers‘ choice of restaurant in Taiwan. On the other hand, although empirical findings have shown that servicescape is a very important factor in affecting customers‘ intentions and purchasing behaviour, this study reveals that servicescape is not an important element for customers’ choice of small Chinese restaurants in Taiwan. This study suggests that for different customers from different countries with different eating cultures, the servicescape elements may not apply to all of these customers.

      • Where Does Trust and Service Quality Reputation Come From?

        Hao-Te Lu 한국문화관광학회 2011 문화관광연구 Vol.13 No.2

The term ‘business reputation’ has certainly moved into the spotlight recently. However, most studies conducted on business reputation have focused on large or multinational enterprises. Within a potentially very large topic, this research concentrates on the perception of the reputation of Taiwanese small enterprises, namely small Chinese restaurants. The motivation for this study stems from the notions about business reputation from customers’ points of view. In addition, significant frameworks reflect conceptual and empirical work which focuses on servicescape, social responsibility, trust and service quality, all of which are relatively common in Western countries. Existing studies which concentrate on Chinese societies are rather more limited and need to be expanded. The purpose of this paper is to fill in some of this research gap by discussing some of the above models in the Chinese cultural society of Taiwan. The results correspond to previous studies conducted, such as the strong relationship between servicescape and service quality, and servicescape being positively connected to trust. The role of trust is critically important in small Chinese restaurants.

      • Discussing the Relationships between Servicescape, Trust and Customers' Choice of Restaurant in Taiwan

      • Optimal Timing of Purchasing Decisions for Airplane Tickets and Hotels. An Example in the UK.

Hao-Te LU,Wan-Yu,HSU,Chih-Yao,YI 세계문화관광학회 2012 International Journal of Culture and tourism Resea Vol.5 No.1

Customers usually like to make travel plans weeks or months ahead of the travel schedule. Therefore, they can take extra time to search information they need in order to purchase the products at the lowest possible price. Accordingly, this study bases on the revenue management (or yield management) to examine the prices of two categories, airplane tickets and hotels, over a period of eight weeks in order to observe how the prices cycle up and down over time. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is an optimal purchasing time for any of the products. A structured observation, often also called systematic observation was conducted by this study to investigate the two categories of travel products. The study reveals that prices for the products assume an increasing trend as the date of the product consumption approaches. The implication for consumers is that they could purchase the products as early as possible to take advantage of the early prices. Although prices sometimes drop, they rarely drop lower than those the first day consumers start their search for tourism products. At end of this study, we also discuss the price variation in Taiwan and an avenue for further research.

Application of Compressive Sensing to Two-Dimensional Radar Imaging Using a Frequency-Scanned Microstrip Leaky Wave Antenna

Shang-Te Yang,Hao Ling 한국전자파학회JEES 2017 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.17 No.3

The application of compressive sensing (CS) to a radar imaging system based on a frequency-scanned microstrip leaky wave antenna is investigated. First, an analytical model of the system matrix is formulated as the basis for the inversion algorithm. Then, L1-norm minimization is applied to the inverse problem to generate a range-azimuth image of the scene. Because of the antenna length, the near-field effect is considered in the CS formulation to properly image close-in targets. The resolving capability of the combined frequency-scanned antenna and CS processing is examined and compared to results based on the short-time Fourier transform and the pseudo-inverse. Both simulation and measurement data are tested to show the system performance in terms of image resolution.

Characteristics and heterostructure of metal-doped TiO2/ZnO nanocatalysts

        Chen Wu-Jhang,Hsu Kuo-Chin,Fang Te-Hua,Chen Tao-Hsing,Li Ming-Hao 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.38 No.-

In this study, Ag or Al-doped TiO2/ZnO heterostructure nanocatalysts were prepared using a sol-gel method for photocatalysis to evaluate the degradability. The photocatalytic behavior was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. Photocatalytic studies suggested that 1 mol% Agdoped TiO2/ZnO (TiO2/ZnO = 0.75/0.25) heterostructure nanocatalysts showed higher photocatalytic activity, and that the degradation efficiency can reach 83% in 4 h, 14% higher than that for pure TiO2. Finally, the photocatalysis mechanism for the Ag-doped TiO2/ZnO heterostructure nanocatalysts is discussed.

      • Boosting the oxygen evolution reaction activity of a perovskite through introducing multi-element synergy and building an ordered structure

        Sun, Hainan,Xu, Xiaomin,Hu, Zhiwei,Tjeng, Liu Hao,Zhao, Jie,Zhang, Qin,Lin, Hong-Ji,Chen, Chien-Te,Chan, Ting-Shan,Zhou, Wei,Shao, Zongping The Royal Society of Chemistry 2019 Journal of Materials Chemistry A Vol.7 No.16

If different active sites in a catalyst have optimal binding to different reaction intermediates and short reaction paths among them, they may work cooperatively to enhance the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity. Based on this design principle, in this study, we start with a B-site ordered double perovskite Sr2FeMoO6−δ with poor OER activity as the host material to fulfill the requirement of a short pathway, and then, replace Mo with Ni and Fe with Co to optimize the synergistic interplay of the multi-active sites. Replacing Mo with Ni indeed dramatically enhances the OER activity and structural/operating stability. Further improvement in OER performance is realized by partial substitution of Fe with Co, leading to the development of a material with the nominal composition of Sr2Fe0.8Co0.2Mo0.65Ni0.35O6−δ, which outperforms the noble metal oxide IrO2 and is better than most of the electrocatalysts developed based on a single descriptor, such as Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3−δ (eg occupancy close to unity), PrBaCo2O5+δ (O 2p-band center relative to the Fermi level), and La0.5Sr0.5CoO3−δ (charge-transfer energy) in many aspects. As a universal method, combined structural and compositional tuning to create a cooperative effect among different active sites for intermediate adsorption and reaction in an ordered structure may provide a new way for the design of superior electrocatalysts for various applications.

Transesterification of soybean oil to biodiesel by tin-based Brønsted-Lewis acidic ionic liquid catalysts

        Xiaoxiang Han,Shang-Bin Liu,Wei Yan,Chin-Te Hung,Yanfei He,Pei-Hao Wu,Li-Li Liu,Shing-Jong Huang 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.7

A series of Brønsted-Lewis acidic ionic liquid (BLAIL) catalysts consisting of sulfonated ionic liquid [SO3H-pmim]Cl and Sn(II) chloride have been synthesized and exploited for catalytic transesterification of soybean oil with methanol to biodiesel. The structural and chemical properties of these [SO3H-pmim]Cl-xSnCl2 (x=0-0.8) catalysts were characterized by different analytical and spectroscopic techniques, such as FT-IR, TGA, and NMR. In particular, their acid properties were studied by solid-state 31P NMR using trimethylphosphine oxide as the probe molecule. The BLAIL catalysts were found highly efficient for transesterification reaction due to the introduction of Lewis acidity by SnCl2 in the initially Brønsted acidic [SO3H-pmim]Cl catalyst. The effects of three independent process variables on biodiesel yield were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM). Consequently, an excellent biodiesel yield of 98.6% was achieved under optimized reaction conditions over the BLAIL catalyst with SnCl2 loading (x) of 0.7.
