Objective: This study investigated the hospital diagnoses and characteristics of uncooperative prehospital patients suspected of acute stroke who could not undergo a prehospital stroke screening test (PHSST). Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted at a single academic hospital with a regional stroke center. We analyzed three scenario-based prehospital stroke screening performances using the final hospital diagnoses: (1) a conservative approach only in patients who underwent the PHSST, (2) a real-world approach that considered all uncooperative patients as screening positive, and (3) a contrapositive approach that all uncooperative patients were considered as negative. Results: Of the 2,836 emergency medical services (EMS)-transported adult patients who met the prehospital criteria for suspicion of acute stroke, 486 (17.1%) were uncooperative, and 570 (20.1%) had a confirmed final diagnosis of acute stroke. The diagnosis in the uncooperative group did not differ from that in the cooperative group (22.0% vs. 19.7%, P=0.246). The diagnostic performances of the PHSST in the conservative approach were as follows: 79.5% sensitivity (95% confidence interval [CI], 75.5%–83.1%), 90.2% specificity (95% CI, 88.8%–91.6%), and 0.849 area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC; 95% CI, 0.829–0.868). The sensitivity and specificity were 83.3% (95% CI, 80.0%–86.3%) and 75.2% (95% CI, 73.3%–76.9%), respectively, in the real-world approach and 64.6% (95% CI, 60.5%–68.5%) and 91.9% (95% CI, 90.7%–93.0%), respectively, in the contrapositive approach. No significant difference was evident in the AUC between the real-world approach and the contrapositive approach (0.792 [95% CI, 0.775–0.810] vs. 0.782 [95% CI, 0.762–0.803], P>0.05). Conclusion: We found overestimation (false positive) and underestimation (false negative) in the uncooperative group depending on the scenario-based EMS stroke screening policy for uncooperative prehospital patients suspected of acute stroke.

In this paper, we propose a method to generate and optimize the height map that is suitable to render a soap bubble. The height map represents the flow speed of soap bubbles. To this end, we have analyzed the flow of the soap bubble surface through experiment, derived the moving speed value for each section. Some image filters have been used for optimization that reflects the parameters of the derived height map. In addition, in order to verify the results of the study, actual data measuring the surface flow speed of soap bubbles, the speed of the initial height map, and the optimized height map speed have been compared and tested. Through this study, we reach the issue that it is possible to express the variable flow speed of soap bubbles with the optimized height map, and it will help to express various fluids.

The compressive strength of concrete is greatly affected by the temperature inside the concrete at the initial age immediately after pouring. The apparent activation energy of cement and the setting time of concrete are major factors influencing the development of compressive strength of concrete. This study measured the apparent activation energy and setting time according to the change in W/B for each mixing rate of Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBFS). And after calculating the compressive strength prediction model, the accuracy of the prediction model was evaluated by comparing the predicted compressive strength and the compressive strength.

The transient response of the negative capacitance (NC) in a P(VDF0.75-TrFE0.25) ferroelectric capacitor is experimentally compared against that of a P(VDF0.50-TrFE0.50) ferroelectric capacitor. To measure first-hand the negative capacitance of the capacitor, a basic resistor-capacitor (RC) series circuit consisting of an external resistor and the ferroelectric capacitor was constructed. It was verified that the time duration of the NC could be adjusted based on the value of the external resistor. It was also confirmed that the transient response of the NC of the P(VDF0.75-TrFE0.25) ferroelectric capacitor versus that of the P(VDF0.50-TrFE0.50) ferroelectric capacitor was more sensitive to variation in the external resistor values. This is attributed to the reason that the polarization switching of P(VDF0.75-TrFE0.25) ferroelectric capacitor is faster than that of the P(VDF0.50-TrFE0.50) ferroelectric capacitor.

In order to broadcast 8K UHD, domestic broadcasting is upgrading production, operation, and transmission technologies in a new way that has various forms such as terrestrial broadcasting, IPTV, mobile, and streaming services. In order to overcome the existing SDI transmission technology that has reached its limit, new transmission technologies using ICT-based convergence such as IT, Network, IOT, and Big Data are developing. Internet Protocol(IP) transmission technology is an IT-based core protocol that transcends various broadcasting infrastructures. Therefore, it can be said that the technology for converting the broadcasting system based on IP is a natural one for preparing for 8K UHD in the future. In this paper, we propose an IP transmission system that adopts a network that can transmit 8K with hardware of 12G Serial Digital Interface (SDI), in order to prepare for the future broadcasting system according to the development of ALL IP interface technology.
An Acceleration-based Packet Transmission Mechanism for Wireless Sensor Systems

A wireless body sensor system (WBSS) provides diverse healthcare services by attaching sensors to the arms, abdomen, and feet of a user and by swiftly obtaining the user’s movement and health-related information. In order to overcome the battery limitations of sensors and the variations in wireless channels in such WBSSs, much research is being conducted. This paper aims to propose a new packet transmission power control (TPC) mechanism that judges wireless channel conditions using acceleration values and inhibits packet transmission when the channel is unstable, thereby reducing energy consumption. The TPC mechanism proposed in this paper was able to save energy efficiently while not increasing the delay time much when the channel condition changed.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of Korean medicine in managing postoperative pain. Retrospective, observational study. Medical records of 233 inpatients at a Korean medicine hospital who underwent Korean medicine treatments such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cuppping, bee-venom and herbal acupuncture, electrical therapy, herbal medicine, and carbon-beam therapy after musculoskeletal surgery were reviewed, and numeric ratings for pain were compared between baseline and follow-up. A correlation analysis between pain improvement and therapeutic factors was performed, and a regression analysis was conducted to determine the predictors of pain reduction. Serum laboratory test results at baseline and follow-up were subsequently compared to identify safety. Numeric rating scale scores for pain; presence of infection, drug-induced liver injury (DILI), and drug-induced kidney injury (DIKI) for safety. After Korean medicine treatment, the pain scores decreased from an average of 4.09 to 1.79 in the numeric rating scale (p < 0.001). Frequency of acupuncture therapy during hospitalization showed the strongest positive correlation with pain improvement (r = 0.341, p = 0.000) and was a predictor of pain reduction (adjusted R2 = 0.145). Improvements in serum laboratory data to reference limits were observed. All kappa coefficient values, except for white blood cell (WBC) count, were between 0.3 and 0.7, indicating that the follow-up data matched the baseline data. The low kappa coefficient value of WBC count was due to the high ratio of outliers. One (0.43%) and no cases of DILI and DIKI were identified, respectively. Korean medicine could be used for managing pain after musculoskeletal surgery.
