Urethral prolapse in female patients is a characterized by the protrusion of the urethral mucosa through the external urethral meatus. It is a rare pathological condition that generally occurs in prepubertal black girls and in postmenopausal white women. We experienced a case of urethral prolapse in a 12-year-old girl at Pohang hospital of Dongguk University. The clinical characteristics and treatment of the urethral prolapse are discussed with references.
강원도 유역의 유출 특성에 관한 연구(소양강댐 유역 중심으로)

This study is finding the most appropriate model of kangwondo watershed. To synthesize earth hydrograph, It is found to several parameters which are used in existing hydrographes. then the synthestic hydrograph is compared and investigated wish many hydrographes of the rivers in kanwondo. These methods, Nakayasu, Clark, SCS are used to calculate the run-off of this watershed. When the calculated run-off is compared with real rating-curves, then it is found that the SCS method using the Clark's concentrantion time is the best way on this area having large watershed, long river length and gentle water slope, the Nakayasu method is more suitable on this area having small watershed, short river length and steep water slope. Also it is founded from analyzing run-off hydrographes, peak run-off and peak time that the Clark's method applied Kirpich's concentration time way is suitable in the area of kanwondo.
기존 세굴심 산정식의 적정성 검토 및 세굴심 산정식 개발에 대한 실험적 연구

In this study, the investigation of hydraulic characteristics and the pier data for the rivers in Youngseo area of Gangwon Province was carried out and the evaluation and comparison between the values from existing formulas and the values from the model tests was conducted, along with the statistical sensitivity analysis of the elements influencing the scour. As a result, the deviation between the values calculated from the existing formulas and the model tests appeared to be 1.09%∼63.98% as the piers were getting larger, which indicated that the existing formulas were not appropriate to estimate the scour in the rivers in Gangwon area. And the formula which estimates the scour with the size of the pier only, among the existing ones, was far behind in estimating the sensitivity because of insufficient incorporation of the hydraulic characteristics, though it is convenient to estimate the value. The sensitivity analysis of the value from the model tests and the depth of the scour proved the significant impact on scour by the size of the pier and water depth, indicating 64% and 36%, respectively. In this study, the formula developed through the regression analysis performed based on the values from the model tests, which appeared to be appropriate for the rivers in Gangwon Province, was proposed.

SUMMARYWe now that system's modeling is to find the functional formulation of system's transformation process from input variables to output value. In this causal relationship, we assume that transformation process has very stable and predictable function and we can only determine parameters of the function.But in this system's modeling process, we bring up two problems. One is, in much cases, we have no conviction that really they have functional relationship. The others is, even if they have functional relationship we can not know the structure of functional equation.To solve this problem, we need a new method which could build functional formulation of itself. It is called self-organizing methods of modeling. GMDH (Group Method of Data Handling) is one of these self-organizing methods.In this paper, the GMDH is used to build a model in some cases.The GMDH algorithm, which was introduced and developed by Ivakhnenko, constructs high-order functional models for complex systems. GMDH self-organized the model from a simple one to one of optimal complexity by a methodology using the process of survival-of-the-fillest principle to determine which new equations to live and which equations to die. This new generation of equations will then be better suited to describe our system then the original this GMDH algorithm has thee steps in detail below. step 1 : constructing new variables Z1, Z2, ......Zm(m-1)/2 step 2 : screening out the less effective variables step 3 : test for optimality We developed this GMDH algorithm to a computer program. We applied GMDH to estimate the function which gives the value of degree of freedom by using Chai square(x2) distribution probability values and time series analysis of stock price estimation. In this trial, we used some previously-known data and the estimation ability of GMDH was good.In conclusion, the GMDH is excellent to build model to estimate dependent variable without specifying functional formulation in system modeling. So, in future study, we can apply this GMDH algorithm to develop the structure of neural network in forecasting and the area of medical science, economic model, etc.

This study tried the 1st, 2nd dimensional numerical analysis according to the pier's shape, size and installing method in order to compare the depth of scour calculation method using the variables calculated by using the 2nd dimensional numerical analysis with the calculated depth of scour value by using the calculated variables by using the 1st dimensional numerical analysis. And then verified the problems occurring when the depth of scour is calculated by using the calculated values by using the 1st dimensional numerical analysis, as calculating the deviation depending on it.

Spud-can is used for fixing jack-up rig on seabed. It needs to be inserted up to the required depth during the installation process to secure enough soil reaction and prevent overturning accidents. On the other hand, it should be extracted from seabed soils as fast as possible during the extraction process to minimize the corresponding operational cost. To achieve such goals, spud-can may be equipped with water-jetting system including monitoring and control. To develop such a smart spud-can, a reliable numerical simulation tool is essential and it has also to be validated against physical model tests. In this regard, authors developed a numerical simulation tool by using a commercial program ANSYS with extended Drucker-Prager (EDP) formula. Authors also conducted small-scale (1/100) physical model tests for verification and calibration purpose. By using the numerical model, a systematic parametric study is conducted both for sand and K(kaolin)-clay with varying important soil parameters and the best estimated soil properties of the physical test are deduced. Then, by using the selected soil properties, the numerical and experimental results for a sand/K-clay multi-layer case are cross-checked to show reasonably good agreement. The validated numerical model will be useful in the next-stage study which includes controllable water-jetting.

The purpose of this investigation is to derive the maximum deflection formula of the circular plate with nonaxisymmetric boundary condition, such as chalk valves for vessel and artificial heart valves, with respect to the length ratio of supporting edge using elastic beam theory. To evaluate the deflection characteristics of this plate, we assumed the circular plate to have a cross-section that varies in the longitudinal direction, and derived the maximum deflection formula of this circular plate with a radius of 'r' in four boundary conditions. Then to verify the deflection formula that is derived from elastic beam theory, five different relative lengths of the supporting edge were adopted as the design parameter, and finite element analysis was carried out for each model.
