        There are sporadic descriptions contained in the 「History of the Korea Mission Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.」, but they are consistent with historical materials of YoungNak Church and provide readers with an overall picture of Reverend Han. According to the material, Reverend Han was the following: First, he had an immense interest in mission related to North Korea. Second, he was a great minister. Third, he was the founder of the largest presbyterian church in the world. Fourth, he is a representative Christian philanthropist. Fifth, he was a great Christian educator. Sixth, he had a special fervor for evangelism and missionary work. Seventh, he was a leader of united church projects, the restoration of the church and re-education of ministers. As such, Reverend Han was a perfect minister who had all the necessary qualities. He was a model and mentor to all ministers and Christians.

      • Fe-X%Mn-6%Si-9%Cr-5%Ni 합금의 형상기억효과에 미치는 가공열처리의 영향

        The effect of thermomechanical treatment on the SME(Shape Memory Effect) of Fe-(10∼16)%Mn-6%Si-9%Cr-5%Ni alloys was investigated. The corrosion behaviors of these alloys were also investigated compared with SUS 304 stainless steel and Fe-30%Mn-6%Si shape memory alloy. Through the investigation the Fe-2%Mn-6%Si-9%Cr-5%Ni alloy showed the best SME in as-solution treated state. Training treatment consisting of repetition of cold rolling by 2% at room temperature and subsequent annealing at 650℃ for 10 minutes was performed to improve the SME. The remarkable improvement of SME was obtained at two cycles of training, and then the SME was decreased with further training. This suggests that the extra lattice defects of dislocation and stacking faults introduced by training treatment deteriorates the SME. The Fe-X%Mn-6%Si-9%Cr-5%Ni alloys showed the passive behavior similar to that of SUS 304 stainless steel in 30℃-5% H₂SO₄solution and great improvement in corrosion resistance compared with the Fe-30%Mn-6%Si shape memory alloy.

      • 흰쥐 간장에 존재하는 카드뮴 결합 단백질의 정제 및 아미노산 조성에 관한 연구

        In order to investigate whether the newly synthesized cadimium(Cd)-bound metallothionein(MT) accumulates in livers of rats which have received subcutaneous injections of Cd, isolation and purification of these protein were performed using Sephacryl S-200 and DEAE-Sephadex column chromatographies, and SDS-PAGE. And PICO.TAG HPLC analysis of amino acids was carried out to find out amino acid composition of MT-II. To confirm that the newly synthesized components are protein in nature, the Cd-bound fractions were examined for incorportation of [??S]cysteine. The effect of actinomycin-D on the synthesis of MT was also studied. 1. Cd induced newly synthesized peak which was identified by gel filtration on a Sephacryl S-200 column. This peak was detectabel only by measurement of Cd and zinc by atomic absorption analysis, and was labelled with [??S]cysteine. These results indicated that the peak components were protein which bound with Cd and zinc, e.g. MT. 2. MT was resolved into two isoforms i.e. MT-I and MT-II that had an apparent molecule mass of 10,000 by ion-exchange chromatography on a DEAE-Sephadex A-25 column 3. Formation of MT was completely abolished by actinomycin-D treatment. 4. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of MT-II showed the presence of a single band which appeared as a single peak on scanning at 590nm. 5. The most typical characteristic of MT-II was a extremely high cysteine content(32.8%) followed by lysine, serine and alanine. Also MT-II showed completely lacking in aromatic amino acids and histidine. These results suggested that newly synthesized MT-II containing high cysteine content was theh major isometallothionein and might have protective role against the toxic effects of Cd through the formation of metal-thiolate complexes and that the induction of formation of MT was due to the de novo synthesis of the protein after the induction ofmRNA synthesis by Cd.

        각종 치과레이저의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 증식 기능억제 효과

        레이저의 구강내 산 생성 세균인 S. mutans에 대한 증식 및 기능 억제효과를 평가하기 위하여 S. mutans KCTC 3065가 포함된 세균 pellet에 Er:YAG 레이저와 Nd:YAG 레이저를 비접촉식 방법으로, 조사세기 50mJ, 조사시간 5초, 그리고 pulse repetition rate를 각각 10Hz와 30Hz로 하여 조사하고 세균 군락수, 산 생성능, 불용성 세포외다당류의 합성량을 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우가 S. mutans의 증식을 가장 많이 억제하였으며 Er:YAG 레이저 조사도 증식을 억제하였다. Chinese ink를 사용하지 않고 ND:YAG 레이저를 단독으로 조사한 경우는 S. mutans의 증식을 억제하지 못하였다. 2. Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우가 일정기간 동안 S. mutans의 산생성능을 가장 많이 억제하였으며 Er:YAG 레이저 조사도 산 생성능을 억제하였다. Chinese ink를 사용하지 않고 Nd:YAG 레이저를 단독으로 조사한 경우는 S. mutans의 산 생성능을 억제하지 못하였다. Er:YAG 레이저와 Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후 Nd:YAG 레이저를 조사한 경우는 pulse repetition rate가 클수록 전반적으로 세균의 산생성능을 더 많이 억제하였다. 3. 레이저 조사는 S. mutans의 불용성 세포외다당류의 합성에 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 Er:YAG 레이저와 Chinese ink로 photosensitization을 시행한 후의 Nd:YAG 레이저 조사는 일정시간 동안 S. mutans의 증식과 산 생성능을 억제시키므로써 치아우식증 예방효과를 얻을 수 있다고 사료되나 억제효과가 오래가지 않아 임상적으로 효과를 얻기 위해서는 자주 조사를 해주어야 한다는 문제점을 안고 있어 임상적으로 치아우식증 예방이란 단독 목적으로 사용하기에는 실용성이 크지 않다고 사료된다. This was performed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of laser on the growth of S. mutans. The bacterial pallets containing S. mutans KCTC 3065 were irradiated with Er:YAG laser and Nd:YAG laser by non-contact method at an intensity of 50mJ for 5 sec with the pulse repetition rates of 10Hz and 30Hz, respectively. The following results were obtained on colony count, acid producing ability, and the amount of insoluble extracellular polysaccharide synthesis. 1. The irradiation of Nd:YAG laser after photosensitization with Chinese ink inhibited the proliferation of S. mutans the most, and the irradiation of Er:YAG also inhibited the proliferation. However, the irradiation of Nd:YAG laser alone could not inhibited the proliferation of S. mutans. The pulse repetition rate did not affect significantly on the proliferation of bacteria in overall. 2. The irradiation of Nd:YAG laser after the photosensitization with Chinese ink inhibited the acid production of S. mutans the most for a certain period of time. Er:YAG laser also inhibited acid production. When Nd:YAG laser was used alone, the acid production of S. mutans was not been inhibited. The irradiation of Nd:YAG laser after photosensitization with Chinese ink inhibited the acid production ability of bacteria the most as the pulse repetition rate increased. 3. Laser irradiation did not inhibited the synthesis of insoluble extracellular polysaccharide of S. mutans. From these results, we conclude that the irradiatioin of Er:YAG laser and Nd:YAG laser after photosensitization with Chinese ink would inhibit the proliferation and acid production by S. mutans, which may prenent dental caries. However, this effect does not last long time so that the laser irradiation should be repeated frequently in order to obtain clinical effect; thus, this laser irradiation would not have a clinical usefulness in preventing dental caries when used solely.

        The tool geometry parameters and cutting process have complex relationships. Until now, various cutting test were needed to acquire optimal design of end mill for the purpose of high speed machining, due to the insufficient knowledge about cutting process in high speed machining. Using various tools with different geometry, relationships between tool geometry parameter (rake angle, clearance angle, length of cutter) and cutting process (cutting force, surface accuracy, surface roughness) have been studied. Acquired data can be used to design optimal tool for high speed machining and developed tool geometry design S/W.

      • 一部都市地域 靑少年의 成長發育과 最大成長發育年齡에 관한 類似縱斷的 硏究

        This study was carried out to know physical growth and development, physical and nutritional indices, and maximum growth accelerating phenomena by semi―longitudinal method to measure body height, body weight, chest girth and sitting height of 427 of high school 3rd grade students who were living in Anyang city and born from March 1 in 1973 to February 28 in 1974. The result Were as follows : 1. Physical growth and development Body height grew one―step direct―development and body weight, chest―girth and sitting height grew two―step direct―development. Female excelled made in two―step development. Intersection phenomena of male and female showed in case of body height : 9.5 ∼ 13.5, body weight : 10.0 ∼ 14.0, chest―girth :11.5 ∼ 15.5, sitting height : 9.5 ∼ 14.0. During this periods, female excelled male but after these periods, male excelled female again. 2. Physical and nutritional indices In all cases of relative body weight, relative chest girth and relative sitting height it was found to be increasing thereafter with advancing ages. In cases of Ro¨hrer index and Kaup index it was found to be reaching to normal state thereafter with advancing ages. In either cases of Vervaeck and Pelidisi index, if was found to be increasing and teaching to normal state thereafter with advancing ages. 3. Maximum growth age of physiques M.G.A.'s were 12.31 for male and 10.42 for female which showed that M.G.A. for female appeared about 2 years earlier than that for male, in body height. M.G.A.'s were 12.73 for male and 11.65 for female which showed that M.G.A. for female appeared about 1 years earlier than that for male, in body weight. M.G.A.'s were 12.75 for male and 11.54 for female which showed that M.G.A. for female appeared about 1.2 years earlier than that for male, in chest ― girth. M.G.A.'s were 12.52 for male and 10.44 for female which showed that M.G.A. for female appeared about 2 years earlier than that for male, in sitting height.

      • 급성 백혈병환아의 혈청내 변형 Ribonucleoside의 변동에 관한 연구

        In order to find out whether the modified ribonucleosides in serum could be used as specific tumor markers for acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), analysis of serum samples from normal child hood controls and patients with the leukemia was performed using reversedphase HPLC. For this study, a rapid and precise chromatographic method for the determination of very small amounts of modified nucleosides in serum by HPLC has been developed. The ribonucleosides were prefractionated with boronate affinity gel column. 1. The concentration of total modified nucleosides in serum of patients with ALL was increased by 46% as compared to normal control level. Patients with ALL had significantly higher concentrations of pseudouridine (ø), 1-me-thyladenosine(m A), 4-thiouridine(sU), 1-methylinosine(mI), 1-methylguanosine(m G ), N,N-dimethylguanosine(m G ) and -methyl-adenosine( ) than normals. Among these nucleosides elevated, positive rates of ø, m A, m I, m G and N A as a marker for the leukemia were observed to be 79%,79%,64%,93% and 93%, respectively. 2. When compared to normal control value, total modified nucleoside content in serum of patients with AML was increased by 21%, Contents of , mA, sU, mI,mG and NA were significantly incresed in serum of patients with AML. Positive rate of mI, mG and NA were 83%, and that of mA was 67%, respectively in AML studied in this experiment. 3. In follow-up study for seven of fourteen patients with ALL, contents of , mA, mI and mG were decreased to normal value after effective chemotherapy. The results suggested that serum levels of ø, m A,m I, m G and N A for ALL and those of m A, m I, m G and N A for AML could be used as diagnostic or biochemical markers. These markers might be useful to monitor the effectiveness of chemotherapy for leukemia.

        As the wireless services are popular for convenience, antennas having wider bandwidth are required more often. In this paper, a new type of monopole antenna is invented for multiple band applications. Multiple band property for the proposed antenna is achieved by adjusting the coupling structure of the antenna base. -10 dB impedance bandwidths are 1.74-3.06 GHz and 5.59-10.62 GHz, which can cover various kinds of wireless services, such as PCS(1.75-1.87 GHz), IMT-2000(1.92-2.17 GHz), WiBro(2.3-2.39 GHz), WLAN (2.412-2.483 GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz), DMB(2.63-2.655 GHz), High-band UWB(7.2-10.2 GHz).
