Effect of a cotton intercrop on spider mite populations in jujube trees
Haiqiang Li,Qian Li,Dongmei Wang,Jian Liu,Jianping Zhang,Yan-Hui Lu 한국응용곤충학회 2020 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.23 No.1
In the arid and semi-arid parts of Xinjiang (China), jujube (Zizyphus jujube Mill) orchards are regularly intercropped with cotton. In 2016–2017, a field study was conducted to compare the species composition and infestation pressure of spider mites in local jujube trees under a cotton-jujube intercropping system and a jujube monocrop system. Our results showed that Tetranychus truncatus Ehara accounted for 94.2–98.5% of all spider mites in either cropping systems. Overall abundance of tree-inhabiting spider mites, including T. truncatus, in intercropped orchards was generally higher than in monocrop ones. Combining our work with earlier findings, we demonstrate how intercropping of cotton and jujube trees generally increases population levels of spider mites on either crop.
Synchronous Price Discovery of Cross-Listings
Haiqiang Chen,Moon Sub Choi 한국경영과학회 2014 Management Science and Financial Engineering Vol.20 No.1
Extending from Grossman and Stiglitz (1980), we provide an asset pricing model of a synchronously traded crosslisted pair under information asymmetry. Following Garbade and Silber (1983), the model further embraces multimarket price discovery in a dynamic framework. The implications are as follows: The price sensitivity of holdings is higher for informed traders than for uninformed traders; the largest cross-border price spread occurs in the absence of arbitrageurs; price discovery is more likely in markets with a larger population of informed traders; and parity convergence accelerates with a higher price elasticity of demand of arbitrageurs.
Construction of Structured q-ary LDPC Codes over Small Fields Using Sliding-Window Method
Haiqiang Chen,Yunyi Liu,Tuanfa Qin,Haitao Yao,Qiuling Tang 한국통신학회 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.5
In this paper, we consider the construction of cyclicand quasi-cyclic structured q-ary low-density parity-check (LDPC)codes over a designated small field. The construction is performedwith a pre-defined sliding-window, which actually executes the regularmapping from original field to the targeted field under certainparameters. Compared to the original codes, the new constructedcodes can provide better flexibility in choice of code rate, codelength and size of field. The constructed codes over small fields withcode length from tenths to hundreds perform well with q-ary sumproductdecoding algorithm (QSPA) over the additive white Gaussiannoise channel and are comparable to the improved spherepackingbound. These codes may found applications in wirelesssensor networks (WSN), where the delay and energy are extremelyconstrained.
Iterative Reliability-Based Modified Majority-Logic Decoding for Structured Binary LDPC Codes
Haiqiang Chen,Lingshan Luo,Youming Sun,Xiangcheng Li,Haibin Wan,Liping Luo,Tuanfa Qin 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.4
In this paper, we present an iterative reliability-based modified majority-logic decoding algorithm for two classes of structured low-density parity-check codes. Different from the conventional modified one-step majority-logic decoding algorithms, we design a turbo-like iterative strategy to recover the performance degradation caused by the simply flipping operation. The main computational loads of the presented algorithminclude only binary logic and integer operations, resulting in low decoding complexity. Furthermore, by introducing the iterative set, a very small proportion (less than 6%) of variable nodes are involved in the reliability updating process, which can further reduce the computational complexity. Simulation results show that, combined with the factor correction technique and a well-designed non-uniform quantization scheme, the presented algorithm can achieve a significant performance improvement and a fast decoding speed, even with very small quantization levels (3–4 bits resolution). The presented algorithm provides a candidate for trade-offs between performance and complexity.

Finding appropriate usage of waste printed circuit board (WPCB), a kind of electronic trash, is an importanttask from background of environment protection and waste management. Due to the intrinsic highhindrance barrier capability, recycled epoxy resin in rich source from WPCB gives opportunity for corrosionprotection of metals based on Two birds with one stone ideology. One stone in this ideology is to applywaste as resource, and two birds respectively indicate using PCB waste as valuable material and inhibitingmetal corrosion. In this paper, by combining biomimetics strategy, we adopt a three-step methodincluding anodic oxidation, hydrophobic treatment and infusion of composite containing epoxy resinfrom WPCB and dimethyl silicone oil to finally form WPCB based slippery liquid-infused porous surface(W-LIS). Morphology, composition, wettability and electrochemical properties are characterized bysophisticated techniques. Adding recycled hydrophobic/oleophilic epoxy resin from WPCB into oil phasecan effectively increase the barrier effect and raise anticorrosion ability. Moreover, W-LIS delivers antifreezingadhesion and biofouling inhibition property, which is obviously superior to LIS and lotus inspiredsuperhydrophobic (SHS) coating. The various excellent performances of W-LIS indicate epoxy resin fromwaste printed circuit board can act a versatile role in field of metal corrosion prevention.

The influence of an Al interlayer on the crystalline quality and surface morphology of AlN epitaxial layers is investigated. 100 nm thick (0002) oriented AlN layers were grown on Si (111) substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition. Al interlayers were introduced through Al soaking, followed by nitridation for different lengths of time. When the nitridation time was 0 s, the AlN surface was uneven. At a nitridation time of 15 s, the AlN epilayer started to transform into a smooth surface. When the nitridation time was increased to 40 s, the AlN films had rough surfaces. X-ray diffraction measurements showed that the full width at half maximum of the (0002) peak decreased to 801.9 arcsec by introducing the Al interlayer for a nitridation time of 25 s. The roughness of the AlN surface was reduced from 5.30 nm to 1.91 nm compared with the films without an Al interlayer. The Al interlayer improved the crystalline quality and surface roughness of the AlN films. An optimized nitridation time was important in achieving an appropriate surface roughness for high quality crystals of AlN on Si (111) surfaces.
Reliability-Based Iterative Proportionality-logic Decoding of LDPC Codes with Adaptive Decision
Youming Sun,Haiqiang Chen,Xiangcheng Li,Lingshan Luo,Tuanfa Qin 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.3
In this paper, we present a reliability-based iterative proportionality-logic decoding algorithm for two classes of structured low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. The main contributions of this paper include: 1) Syndromemessages instead of extrinsic messages are processed and exchanged between variable nodes and check nodes, which can reduce the decoding complexity; 2) a more flexible decision mechanism is developed in which the decision threshold can be self-adjusted during the iterative process. Such decision mechanism is particularly effective for decoding the majority-logic decodable codes; 3) only part of the variable nodes satisfying the pre-designed criterion are involved for the presented algorithm, which is in the proportionality-logic sense and can further reduce the computational complexity. Simulation results show that, when combined with factor correction techniques and appropriate proportionality parameter, the presented algorithm performs well and can achieve fast decoding convergence rate while maintaining relative low decoding complexity, especially for small quantized levels (3–4 bits). The presented algorithm provides a candidate for those application scenarios where the memory load and the energy consumption are extremely constrained.
Genetic homogeneity between populations of cotton bollworm from Xinjiang, China
Dongmei Wang,Xianming Yang,Haiqiang Li,Akedan Wuwaishi,Ruifeng Ding,Haobin Li,Hongsheng Pan,Jian Liu,Yao Xu,Yan-Hui Lu 한국응용곤충학회 2018 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.21 No.1
We studied the population structure of cotton bollworm (CBW), Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae), in Xinjiang, the largest cotton-growing region in China, using a fragment of cytochrome c oxidasesubunit I (COI) gene. Alignments of all 192 COI sequences revealed 28 haplotypes including 23 in southernXinjiang, 5 in eastern Xinjiang and 13 in northern Xinjiang. Negative and significant values of neutrality tests forthe Tajima's D and Fu's FS parameters, combined with the high values of haplotype diversity (Hd), low values ofnucleotide diversity (π) and a high number of low frequency haplotypes indicated a recent demographic expansionof Xinjiang CBW populations. Analysis of molecular variation (AMOVA) indicated low and non-significantgenetic structure, regardless of geographical scale or crop, with most of genetic variation occurringwithin local CBW populations. Pairwise FST analyses also indicated low genetic differentiation. This demographicevent and high gene flow could be responsible for the low genetic structure currently found. CBW populations inXinjiang need to be considered as one panmictic unit in its management, especially for the design of refuges todelay the development of resistance by this migratory pest to transgenic Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) cotton.
Six Degree-of-freedom Hydraulic Hexapod Platform for Large-amplitude Vibration Isolation
Long Cui,Hai Huang,Ze Zhang,Haiqiang Wang 제어로봇시스템학회 2011 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.10
High resolution optical equipment needs a low noise environment, to realize high precision pointing and tracking function. However, the vehicular optical equipment will be influenced by the disturbance of vehicle body when the vehicle is moving. To solve this problem, a large stroke vibration isolation Hexapod platform with hydraulic actuator was proposed. A prototype platform and an experiment system were built, and performance test and vibration isolation experiment were carried out. The experiment result shows that the amplitude of the sinusoidal vibration was reduced by 90% in 4 ~ 20Hz frequency band and the peak-peak value of the random vibration was reduced by 75%.

Background: Ginseng is a commonly used herbal medicine in treating various medical conditions. Chronic gut inflammation is a recognized factor for the development of colorectal cancer (CRC). In this project, Asian ginseng berry polysaccharide preparations were used to assess their effects on CRC and related immune regulation mechanisms. Methods: Ginseng berry polysaccharide extract (GBPE) and purified ginseng berry polysaccharide portion (GBPP) were used to evaluate their activities on human HCT-116 and HT-29 CRC cell proliferation. Interleukin-8 secretion analysis was performed on HT-29 cells. Naive CD4 cell isolation and T-helper cell differentiation were performed and determined using flow cytometry for Th1 and Treg in addition to cell cycle and apoptotic investigation. Results: GBPE and GBPP significantly inhibited interleukin-8 secretion and cancer cell proliferation, inhibited CD4+IFN-γ+ cell (Th1) differentiation, and decreased CD4+FoxP3+ cell (Treg) differentiation. Compared to the GBPE, GBPP showed more potent antiinflammatory activities on the malignant cells. This is consistent with the observation that GBPP can also inhibit Th1-cell differentiation better, suggesting that it has an important role in antiinflammation, whereas Treg cells hinder the body's immune response against malignancies. Supported by cell cycle and apoptosis data, GBPE and GBPP, at various degrees, remarkably enhanced the anticancer activities of 5-fluorouracil. Conclusion: Data from this project suggested that Asian ginseng berry potentially has clinical utility in managing enteric inflammation and suppressing CRC through immunomodulation mechanisms.
