Vol.19 No.1
This study was conducted to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Pruns mume, Schisandra chinensis, Chaenomeles sinensis-- Prunus mume mixtrue (PM) treatment on colitis induced in mice by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) treatment. A total of 25 male BALB/c mice (average weight 20.7 ± 1.6 g) were divided into 5 treatment groups and fed a commercial diet (A), PM administration (B), commercial diet + induced colitis by DSS (C), PM administration + induced colitis by DSS (D) and sulfasalazine + induced colitis by DSS (E). We found that PM treatment (D) and sulfasalazine (E) decreased the expression of TNF-α and COX-2 compared to the DSS-induced colitis group (C). The expression of IL-4, STAT6, IFN-γ, STAT1 was decreased in group D and group E compared to the colitis group (C), COX-2 and STAT1 were more decreased in group D. The serum IgE levels decreased in the PM treatment groups (C and D) compared to the non-PM treatment groups (A and B) although there was no significant difference between the PM treatment groups. It is notable that a therapeutic application of the PM extracts ameliorated DSS-induced colitis in mice.
Ring structures concerning factorization modulo radicals
Vol.54 No.4
The aim in this note is to describe some classes of rings in relation to factorization by prime radical, upper nilradical, and Jacobson radical. We introduce the concepts of {\it tpr} ring, {\it tunr} ring, and {\it tjr} ring in the process, respectively. Their ring theoretical structures are investigated in relation to various sorts of factor rings and extensions. We also study the structure of noncommutative tpr (tunr, tjr) rings of minimal order, which can be a base of constructing examples of various ring structures. Various sorts of structures of known examples are studied in relation with the topics of this note.

B-32 is one of a panel of monoclonal anti-idiotypic antibodies to growth hormone (GH) that we developed. To characterize and identify its potential role as a novel growth hormone receptor (GHR) agonist, we determined that B-32 behaved as a typical Ab2β based on a series of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay assays. The results of fluorescence-activated cell sorting, indirect immunofluorescence and competitive receptor binding assays demonstrated that B-32 specifically binds to the GHR expressed on target cells. Next, we examined the resulting signal transduction pathways triggered by this antibody in primary porcine hepatocytes. We found that B-32 can activate the GHR and Janus kinase (2)/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK2/STAT5) signalling pathways. The phosphorylation kinetics of JAK2/STAT5 induced by either GH or B-32 were analysed in dose-response and time course experiments. In addition, B32 could also stimulate porcine hepatocytes to secrete insulin-like growth factors-1. Our work indicates that a monoclonal anti-idiotypic antibody to GH (B-32) can serve as a GHR agonist or GH mimic and has application potential in domestic animal (pig) production.

A continuous and non-decreasing function ψ and another continuous function φ with φ(z) = 0 <=⇒ z = 0 defined on C + = {x + yi : x, y ≥ 0} are introduced, the ψ-φ-contractive or expansive type conditions are considered, and the existence theorems of common fixed points for two mappings defined on a complex valued metric space are obtained. Also, Banach contraction principle and a fixed point theorem for a I-expansive type mapping are given on complex valued metric spaces.

In this article we show that direct limits do not preserve the property that the Wedderburn radical contains all nilpotents, comparing the fact that the NI property is preserved by direct limits.
On a ring property related to nilradicals
Vol.27 No.1
In this article we investigate the structure of rings in which lower nilradicals coincide with upper nilradicals. Such rings shall be said to be quasi-2-primal. It is shown first that the K$\ddot{\text{o}}$the's conjecture holds for quasi-2-primal rings. So the results in this article may provide interesting and useful information to the study of nilradicals in various situations. In the procedure we study the structure of quasi-2-primal rings, and observe various kinds of quasi-2-primal rings which do roles in ring theory.
INSERTION-OF-FACTORS-PROPERTY WITH FACTORS MAXIMAL IDEALS
Vol.52 No.3
Insertion-of-factors-property, which was introduced by Bell, has a role in the study of various sorts of zero-divisors in noncommutative rings. We in this note consider this property in the case that factors are restricted to maximal ideals. A ring is called IMIP when it satisfies such property. It is shown that the Dorroh extension of A by K is an IMIP ring if and only if A is an IFP ring without identity, where A is a nil algebra over a field K. The structure of an IMIP ring is studied in relation to various kinds of rings which have roles in noncommutative ring theory.
On commutativity of skew polynomials at zero
Vol.54 No.1
We, in this paper, study the commutativity of skew polynomials at zero as a generalization of an $\alpha$-rigid ring, introducing the concept of strongly skew reversibility. A ring $R$ is be said to be \emph{strongly $\alpha$-skew reversible} if the skew polynomial ring $R[x;\alpha]$ is reversible. We examine some characterizations and extensions of strongly $\alpha$-skew reversible rings in relation with several ring theoretic properties which have roles in ring theory.
