The impact of R&D intensity on firm performance in an emerging market: Evidence from China’s electronics manufacturing firms

        Zhu Gui-long,Zhang Yi,Chen Kai-hua,Yu Jiang 기술경영경제학회 2017 ASIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION Vol.25 No.1

The impact pattern of R&D intensity on firm performance is an interesting but not explicitlyuntangled topic in the emerging market. This study explores the topic in the context ofChina using a unique unbalanced panel data set for the China’s electronics manufacturingfirms. In order to strengthen the robustness of the statistical results, this study employs twocoherent models: pooled-OLS regression and pooled-quantile regression techniques. Thepooled-OLS regressions focusing on mean effects present the robust evidence of a positiverelationship between R&D intensity on firm performance, and the further pooled-quantileregressions portraying the relative importance of explanatory variables at different points ofthe performance distribution show that the R&D intensity exhibits a stronger impact on thebetter-performance firms. Our study presents some new evidence for the impact of R&Dintensity on firm performance in the emerging market.

        Yin-Di Zhu,Jing-Yi Hong,Feng-Da Bao,Na Xing,Ling-Tian Wang,Zhong-Hao Sun,Yun Luo,Hai Jiang,Xudong Xu,Nai-Liang Zhu,Hai-Feng Wu,Gui-Bo Sun,Jun-Shan Yang 대한약학회 2018 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.41 No.12

Four new ursane-type triterpenoid saponins, clinopoursaponins A–D (1–4), six new oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins, clinopodiside VII–XII (5–10), as well as eight known triterpene analogues (11–18), were isolated from the aerial parts of Clinopodium chinense (Benth.) O. Kuntze. The structures of the new compounds were determined based on extensive spectral analyses, including 1D (1H and 13C) and 2D NMR experiments (COSY, NOESY, HSQC, 2D TOCSY, HSQC-TOCSY and HMBC), HR-ESI-MS and chemical methods. Compounds 1–18 were evaluated for their protective effects against anoxia/reoxygenation-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cells and cytotoxicities against murine mammary carcinoma cell line 4T1. Compounds 8, 9 and 18 exhibited significant protective effects, while compound 1 exhibited cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 7.4 μm compared to 7.6 μm for the positive control 10-hydroxycamptothecin.

Identification and expression profiles of putative chemosensory protein genes in Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

        Su Liu,Xiao-Xiao Shi,Qing-Zi Zhu,Wen-Juan Jiao,Zi-Jie Zhu,Hang Yu,Gui-YaoWang,Zengrong Zhu 한국응용곤충학회 2015 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.18 No.1

Insect chemosensory proteins (CSPs) are small, water-soluble proteins which can bind and transport hydrophobic odorants through sensillum lymph to activate odorant receptors, thus play important roles in the olfactory recognition. In the present study, by searching the transcriptome data sets, a total of 22 candidate CSP genes were identified from Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, a serious lepidopteran rice pest in Asia. CSP proteins encoded by these genes showed typical characteristics: an N-terminal signal peptide, four conserved cysteine residues and the pattern of cysteine spacing. The expression profiles of these putative CSP genes were investigated using real-time quantitative PCR. The results showed that five genes (CmedCSP4, CmedCSP8, CmedCSP11, CmedCSP18 and CmedCSP21) were expressed primarily in antennae, suggesting their involvement in olfactory processes; whilst other genes are mainly expressed in non-olfactory tissues, such as abdomen and legs, indicating a broader physiological function for these CSPs. The findings will lead to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of chemoreception in C. medinalis.

Analysis of delay compensation in real-time dynamic hybrid testing with large integration time-step

        Zhu, Fei,Wang, Jin-Ting,Jin, Feng,Gui, Yao,Zhou, Meng-Xia Techno-Press 2014 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.14 No.6

With the sub-stepping technique, the numerical analysis in real-time dynamic hybrid testing is split into the response analysis and signal generation tasks. Two target computers that operate in real-time may be assigned to implement these two tasks, respectively, for fully extending the simulation scale of the numerical substructure. In this case, the integration time-step of solving the dynamic response of the numerical substructure can be dozens of times bigger than the sampling time-step of the controller. The time delay between the real and desired feedback forces becomes more striking, which challenges the well-developed delay compensation methods in real-time dynamic hybrid testing. This paper focuses on displacement prediction and force correction for delay compensation in the real-time dynamic hybrid testing with a large integration time-step. A new displacement prediction scheme is proposed based on recently-developed explicit integration algorithms and compared with several commonly-used prediction procedures. The evaluation of its prediction accuracy is carried out theoretically, numerically and experimentally. Results indicate that the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed prediction method are of significance.

      • The Community Discovery Algorithm Based on Label Cohesion

Gui Qiong,Zhu Dejun,Cheng Xiaohui 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.9

Label Propagation Algorithm is a kind of community discovery method. This algorithm contains large numbers of random selections, which made the result uncertain and reduced the stability of the algorithm. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposed Label Cohesion Algorithm (LCA). In LCA algorithm the label propagation process is divided into two steps. The first step is taking pretreatments on the original labels. The second step is label updating. In the first step we change node label though node centripetal. In the second step the paper use label Cohesion as the judgement to choose the new label. Finally the experimental result shows that the accuracy of the algorithm has been improved.

Impact of a Glyphosate-Tolerant Soybean Line on the Rhizobacteria, Revealed by Illumina MiSeq

        ( Gui-hua Lu ),( Yin-ling Zhu ),( Ling-ru Kong ),( Jing Cheng ),( Cheng-yi Tang ),( Xiao-mei Hua ),( Fan-fan Meng ),( Yan-jun Pang ),( Rong-wu Yang ),( Jin-liang Qi ),( Yong-hua Yang ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2017 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.27 No.3

The global commercial cultivation of transgenic crops, including glyphosate-tolerant soybean, has increased widely in recent decades with potential impact on the environment. The bulk of previous studies showed different results on the effects of the release of transgenic plants on the soil microbial community, especially rhizosphere bacteria. In this study, comparative analyses of the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere soils and surrounding soils were performed between the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line NZL06-698 (or simply N698), containing a glyphosate-insensitive EPSPS gene, and its control cultivar Mengdou12 (or simply MD12), by a 16S ribosomal RNA gene (16S rDNA) amplicon sequencing-based Illumina MiSeq platform. No statistically significant difference was found in the overall alpha diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities, although the species richness and evenness of the bacteria increased in the rhizosphere of N698 compared with that of MD12. Some influence on phylogenetic diversity of the rhizosphere bacterial communities was found between N698 and MD12 by beta diversity analysis based on weighted UniFrac distance. Furthermore, the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacterial phyla and genera, which included some nitrogen-fixing bacteria, were significantly different between N698 and MD12. Our present results indicate some impact of the glyphosate-tolerant soybean line N698 on the phylogenetic diversity of rhizosphere bacterial communities together with a significant difference in the relative abundances of part rhizosphere bacteria at different classification levels as compared with its control cultivar MD12, when a comparative analysis of surrounding soils between N698 and MD12 was used as a systematic contrast study.

Toughening polystyrene by core–shell grafting copolymer polybutadiene-graft-polystyrene with potassium persulfate as initiator

        Gui Di Cai,Guang Hui Gao,Hong Yu Yang,Li Dan Zhu,Hua Liu,Guang Feng Wu,Ming Yao Zhang,Chao Zhou,Hui Xuan Zhang 한국공업화학회 2013 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.19 No.3

Core–shell polybutadiene-graft-polystyrene rubber particles with different ratios of polybutadiene core to polystyrene shell were synthesized by an emulsion polymerization using K2S2O8 as an initiator. Then the core–shell rubber particles were blended with PS to prepare PS/PB-g-PS. The rubber particles with a size of 0.3–0.5 mm could toughen polystyrene significantly. The mechanical properties, morphologies and deformation mechanisms of samples were extensively investigated. The experimental results showed that the dispersion of rubber particles in a ‘‘cluster’’ state leads to better impact resistances. Crazing occurred from rubber particles and extended in a bridge-like manner to neighboring rubber particles parallel to the equatorial direction.

Preventive effect of Polysaccharide of Larimichthys Crocea Swimming Bladder on Activated Carbon- Induced Constipation in Mice

        Gui-Jie Li,Yu Qian,Peng Sun,Xia Feng,Kai Zhu,Xin Zhao 한국응용생명화학회 2014 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.57 No.2

Effects of polysaccharide of Larimichthys croceaswimming bladder (PLCSB) on activated carbon-induced constipationin ICR mice were investigated. ICR mice were subjected to oraladministration with lactic acid bacteria for 9 days. Body weight, diet and drinking intake, defecation status, gastrointestinal transit, and defecation time, as well as motilin (MTL), gastrin (Gas),endothelin (ET), somatostatin (SS), acetylcholinesterase (AChE),substance P (SP), and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) levels inserum were used to evaluate the preventive effects of PLCSB onconstipation. Bisacodyl, a laxative drug, was used as a positivecontrol. The time to the first black stool defecation for normal, control, bisacodyl-treated (100 mg/kg), 50 and 100 mg/kg PLCSBtreatedmice were 88, 202, 126, 155, and 135 min, respectively. Following the consumption of oral administration of 50 and 100mg/kg PLCSB or bisacodyl (100 mg/kg), the gastrointestinaltransit was reduced to 62.6, 78.3, and 90.2%, respectively. Theserum levels of MTL, Gas, ET, AChE, SP, and VIP weresignificantly increased, and the serum levels of SS were reducedin the mice treated with PLCSB compared with those in theuntreated control mice (p <0.05). These results demonstrate thatPLCSB has preventive effects on mouse constipation and highconcentration of that demonstrated the better functional activity.

Study on Dynamic Behavior of Single-Layer Reticulated Dome by Shaking Table Test

        Gui-bo Nie,Xing-long Zhu,Xudong Zhi,Fuyang Wang,Jun-Wu Dai 한국강구조학회 2018 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.18 No.2

Large-span space structures in the form of reticulated domes, which have developed rapidly in the last three decades, are widely used in large-scale public buildings . In order to have a better understanding of its mechanical performance and verify the failure pattern under seismic motion, a shaking table test of a single-layer reticulated dome was carried out. The geometric position of the structural nodes and material properties of the members were measured, such as yield strength and Young’s modulus . The dynamic characterization of the model under white-noise excitation and fast size frequency was then performed to obtain its natural vibration frequency and damping factor. Next, the mechanical performance of the model under weak and strong seismic motions was investigated experimentally. Finally, a comparison between the experimental and numerical results obtained using the fi nite element software ABAQUS was made and a satisfactory agreement was found. The occurrence of large-scale deformation and signifi cant material plasticity of these structures under severe seismic motion can be regarded as indicators of dynamic strength failure. This is the fi rst time that the pattern of dynamic strength failure has been observed via shaking table tests.
