A MATRIX INEQUALITY ON SCHUR COMPLEMENTS
YANG, ZHONG-PENG,CAO, CHONG-GUANG,ZHANG, XIAN 한국전산응용수학회 2005 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.18 No.1
We investigate a matrix inequality on Schur complements defined by {1}-generalized inverses, and obtain simultaneously a necessary and sufficient condition under which the inequality turns into an equality. This extends two existing matrix inequalities on Schur complements defined respectively by inverses and Moore-Penrose generalized inverses (see Wang et al. [Lin. Alg. Appl., 302-303(1999)163-172] and Liu and Wang [Lin. Alg. Appl., 293(1999)233-241]). Moreover, the non-uniqueness of $\{1\}$-generalized inverses yields the complicatedness of the extension.

INEQUALITIES INVOLVING KHATRI-RAO PRODUCTS OF HERMITIAN MATRICES
Yang, Zhong-Peng,Zhang, Xian,Cao, Chong-Guang 한국전산응용수학회 2002 The Korean journal of computational & applied math Vol.9 No.1
Recently, Several inequalities Khatri-Rao Products of two four partitioned blocks positive definite real symmetry matrices are established by Liu in[Lin. Alg. Appl. 289(1999): 267-277]. We extend these results in two ways. First, the results are extended to two any partitioned blocks Hermitian matrices. Second, necessary and sufficient conditions under which these inequalities become equalities are presented.
Flexible Hybrid Energy Cell for Simultaneously Harvesting Thermal, Mechanical, and Solar Energies
Yang, Ya,Zhang, Hulin,Zhu, Guang,Lee, Sangmin,Lin, Zong-Hong,Wang, Zhong Lin American Chemical Society 2013 ACS NANO Vol.7 No.1
<P>We report the first flexible hybrid energy cell that is capable of simultaneously or individually harvesting thermal, mechanical, and solar energies to power some electronic devices. For having both the pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties, a polarized poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) film-based nanogenerator (NG) was used to harvest thermal and mechanical energies. Using aligned ZnO nanowire arrays grown on the flexible polyester (PET) substrate, a ZnO–poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) heterojunction solar cell was designed for harvesting solar energy. By integrating the NGs and the solar cells, a hybrid energy cell was fabricated to simultaneously harvest three different types of energies. With the use of a Li-ion battery as the energy storage, the harvested energy can drive four red light-emitting diodes (LEDs).</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2013/ancac3.2013.7.issue-1/nn305247x/production/images/medium/nn-2012-05247x_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn305247x'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Aim: To take a deeper insight into the relationship between the root of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) and the autonomic nerve plexuses around it by cadaveric anatomy and explore anatomical evidence of autonomic nerve preservation in high ligation of the IMA in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer. Methods: Anatomical dissection was performed on 11 formalin-fixed cadavers and 12 fresh cadavers. Anatomical evidence-based autonomic nerve preservation in high ligation of the IMA was performed in 22 laparoscopic curative resections of colorectal cancer. Results: As the upward continuation of the presacral nerves, the bilateral trunks of SHP had close but different relationships with the root of the IMA. The right trunk of SHP ran relatively far away from the root of IMA. When the apical lymph nodes were dissected close to the root of the IMA along the fascia space in front of the anterior renal fascia, the right trunk of SHP could be kept in suit under the anterior renal fascia. The left descending branches to SHP constituted a natural and constant anatomical landmark of the relationship between the root of IMA and the left autonomic nerves. Proximal to this, the left autonomic nerves surrounded the root of the IMA. Distally, the left trunk of the SHP departed from the root of IMA under the anterior renal fascia. When high ligation of the IMA was performed distal to it, the left trunk of SHP could be preserved. The distance between the left descending branches to SHP and the origin of IMA varied widely from 1.3 cm to 2.3 cm. Conclusions: The divergences of the bilateral autonomic nerve preservation around the root of the IMA may contribute to provide anatomical evidence for more precise evaluation of the optimal position of high ligation of the IMA in the future.

Resveratrol has been examined in several model systems for potential effects against cancer. Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is reported to suppress proliferation in most eukaryocyte cells. Whether resveratrol via AMPK inhibits proliferation of oesophageal adenocarcinoma cells (OAC) is unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the roles of AMPK in the protective effects of resveratrol in OAC proliferation and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Treatment of cultured OAC derived from human subjects or cell lines with resveratrol resulted in decreased cell proliferation. Further, inhibition of AMPK by pharmacological reagent or genetical approach abolished resveratrol-suppressed OAC proliferation, reduced the level of $p27^{Kip1}$, a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, and increased the levels of S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Skp2) of $p27^{Kip1}$-E3 ubiquitin ligase and 26S proteasome activity reduced by resveratrol. Furthermore, gene silencing of $p27^{Kip1}$ reversed resveratrol-suppressed OAC proliferation. In conclusion, these findings indicate that resveratrol inhibits Skp2-mediated ubiquitylation and 26S proteasome-dependent degradation of $p27^{Kip1}$ via AMPK activation to suppress OAC proliferation.
Sets and value sharing of q-differences of meromorphic functions
Xiao-Guang Qi,Lian-Zhong Yang 대한수학회 2013 대한수학회보 Vol.50 No.3
In this paper, we investigate uniqueness problems of certain types of q-difference polynomials, which improve some results in [20]. However, our proof is different from that in [20]. Moreover, we obtain a uniqueness result in the case where q-differences of two entire functions share values as well. This research also shows that there exist two sets, such that for a zero-order non-constant meromorphic function f and a non-zero complex constant q, E(Sj , f) = E(Sj ,△qf) for j = 1, 2 imply f(z) = t△qf, where tn = 1. This gives a partial answer to a question of Gross concerning a zero order meromorphic function f(z) and △qf.
A note on meromorphic solutions of complex differential-difference equations
Xiao-Guang Qi,Lian-Zhong Yang 대한수학회 2019 대한수학회보 Vol.56 No.3
In this article, we consider properties of transcendental meromorphic solutions of the complex differential-difference equation $$ P_n(z)f^{(n)}(z+\eta_n)+\cdots+P_1(z)f'(z+\eta_1)+P_0(z)f(z+\eta_0)=0, $$ and its non-homogeneous equation. Our results extend earlier results by Liu et al.~\cite{Liu3}.
