Graciela S. Birman,Graciela M. Desideri 대한수학회 2007 대한수학회보 Vol.44 No.3
In this paper, we study the map projections from pseudo-sphere S21 onto the non-lightlike surfaces in the 3-dimensional Lorentzianspace,L3;with curvature zero. We show geometrical means and proper-ties ofR S11 cylindrical, S1 L cylindrical and R H 10 cylindricalprojections dened on S21 to cylinders R S11 ; S1 L and R H 10 ,respectively, and orthographic and stereographic projections on S21 toLorentzian plane, L2.
PROJECTIONS OF PSEUDOSPHERE IN THE LORENTZ 3-SPACE
Birman, Graciela S.,Desideri, Graciela M. Korean Mathematical Society 2007 대한수학회보 Vol.44 No.3
In this paper, we study the map projections from pseudo-sphere $S_1^2$ onto the non-lightlike surfaces in the 3-dimensional Lorentzian space, $L^3$, with curvature zero. We show geometrical means and properties of $\mathbb{R}{\times}S_1^1-cylindrical$, $S^1{\times}L-cylindrical$ and $\mathbb{R}{\times}H_0^1-cylindrical$ projections defined on $S_1^2$ to cylinders $\mathbb{R}{\times}S_1^1,\;S^1{\times}L$ and $\mathbb{R}{\times}H_0^1$, respectively, and orthographic and stereographic projections on $S_1^2$ to Lorentzian plane, $L^2$.

We examined the associations between Latino cultural variables and four sexual behaviors among female adolescents of Mexican origin. Participants ages 14 to 19 (N = 153; 70% born in the U.S) completed surveys about four sexual behaviors (making out, receiving and performing oral sex, and vaginal sex) and cultural variables (nativity, language use, familism, and importance of female virginity). Findings indicated that participants who were born in the U.S. were less likely to have engaged in making out and vaginal sex than participants born in Mexico. Participants reporting stronger familism were less likely to have engaged in making out and oral sex than participants reporting less familism. For all behaviors, placing a greater value on female virginity was associated with lesser odds of engaging in that behavior. This study expands our understanding of the role of nativity and Latino values in the sexual behaviors of Mexican-origin female adolescents.

The effects of red cactus pear encapsulationusing spray drying with soluble fiber were evaluated. Cactus pear juice was mixed with 15, 22.5, or 30% solublefiber and dried at 160, 180, or 200ºC. Juice showed highlevels of polyphenols, quercetin, kaempferol, isoharmetin, betacyanins, betaxanthins, and a high antioxidant activity. Increased soluble fiber amounts significantly (p<0.05)increased the pH, aw, water solubility index (WSI), L*, andb* values. Levels of polyphenols and betacyanins decreasedsignificantly (p<0.05) as the soluble fiber content and thedrying temperature increased, respectively. Encapsulationat 160ºC and 22.5% of soluble fiber yielded good physicalproperties and high bioactive compounds. Microscopicanalysis showed spherically shaped capsules, the shapewas affected by the concentration of added soluble fiber. Low soluble fiber concentrations were associated withmore collapsed capsules. Soluble fiber for encapsulatingcactus pear resulted in a powder with good properties thatcan be used as a food ingredient.

DOCUMENTARY FILM AND THE PLEA FOR JUSTICE: TEMPORARY MIGRANT WORKERS IN CANADA
Martínez-Zalce Graciela 한국캐나다학회 2022 Asia-Pacific Journal of Canadian Studies (APJCS) Vol.28 No.1
The objective of this article is to introduce the main problems of the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program between Mexico and Canada which takes place, still, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis relies on documentary films, presenting the activists’ struggle, pointing out SAWP’s problems in the constitution of the families affected and with regard to “citizenization” of the “temporary” workers in order to present a contemporary context in which these works were produced and disseminated. Once that context is established, five films were analyzed produced over the last fifteen years to find out the participation of workers in the programs, signed by Mexico and Canada. This brief commented filmography has served to put forward the points of view of each documentary and what it seeks to communicate to their audiences. The contributions of this article follow two different lines. The first is that documentary film can be presented as a useful tool to denounce unfair situations when proposed as an activist weapon. The second is to underline how, in the third decade of the 21st century, the condition in which SAWP members work and live still has not changed and how the COVID 19 epidemic has brought to the fore the paradoxical conditions in which the program operates.
Assessing Financial Vulnerability in Emerging Economies: A Summary of Empirical Results
Morris Goldstein,Graciela L. Kaminsky,Carmen M. Reinhart 대외경제정책연구원 2000 East Asian Economic Review Vol.4 No.2
This paper aims to identify key empirical regularities in the run-up to banking and currency crises that would enable officials and private market participants to recognize vulnerability to financial crises at an earlier stage. This, in turn, should make it easier to motivate the corrective policy actions that would prevent such crises from actually taking place. Interest in identifying early warning indicators of financial crises has soared of late, stoked primarily by two factors. First, there is increasing recognition that banking and currency crises can be extremely costly to the countries in which they originate; in addition, these crises often spillover via a variety of channels to increase the vulnerability of other countries to financial crisis. The second reason for the increased interest in early warning indicators of financial crises is that there is accumulating evidence that two of the most closely watched market indicators of default and currency risks-namely, interest rate spreads and changes in credit ratings- frequently do not provide much advance warning of currency and banking crises. The other reason why market prices may not signal impending crises is that there are often widely and strongly-held expectations of a bail-out of a troubled borrower by the official sector ?be it national or international. Dooley has stressed this point in several papers. If interest rate spreads and sovereign credit ratings only give advance warning of financial crises once in a while, increased interest attaches to the question of whether there are other early-warning indicators that would do a better job, and if so, what are they? This is one of the key questions we address in this paper.
Gold Beads Implants for The Treatment of Canine Chronic Recurrent Otitis Externa
헥터 수마노,Graciela Tapia-Perez,Lilia Gutiérrez 한국임상수의학회 2013 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.30 No.2
A clinical trial was performed to assess clinical efficacy and/or reduction in relapses by gold-bead implantation into acupuncture points in dogs with canine chronic recurrent otitis externa (CCROE). Forty dog-patients randomly divided into two groups were diagnosed as suffering CCROE, having intact tympanic membranes and a history of recurrences. Treatments were: control group (CG), treated with commercially available antimicrobial otic droplets, dosed twice daily for 7 days; and experimental group (GBI- gold bead implants), treated as for CG plus the insertion of 13 gold-bead implants under light anesthesia. Overall per cent assessment of composite clinical progression and progression of individual clinical signs were recorded. Bilateral chronic external otitis was diagnosed in 60% of the cases and left or right otitis in 20% of the cases each. Logistic model for repeated measures analysis showed that GBI induced a better clinical recovery as far as lesion score of some clinical signs is concerned. The overall percent cures of each group showed statistically significant difference. A McNemar analysis revealed that higher number of relapses was observed in CG patients as compared to the GBI (P < 0.05). In particular during these days, lesion on the pinna showed in odd ratios analysis a 7:1 ratio (recurrence CG:GBI) and ear wax/pus (4:1) from D42 to D365. It is concluded that gold-bead implantation into acupuncture points improves resolution of some clinical signs and greatly reduce relapses in CCROE affected dogs after 1 year follow-up (98.75%).
