      • CO- CREATING WELLBEING THROUGH SPORTS COMMUNITIES PRACTICES

        Mario Giraldo,,Oscar Naranjo,Nohora Mercado-Caruso 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

This study explores the dynamics of wellbeing co-creation in sports communities of non-professional athletes through their everyday consumption of extended service encounters. With the use of ethnographic methods and using extreme sports communities (Surf, and Triathlon) of non-professional athletes in Colombia as a case study, the researchers explored how wellbeing evolves as forms of active integration of competences, materials, communities, and images reproducing actual and recreating new consumption practices. The findings show evidence that extreme sports consumption can be acknowledged as a social practice in the Colombian extreme sports consumption community of non-professional athletes, reaching three main outcomes. Firstly, the study suggests that wellbeing co-creation in the Colombian extreme sports communities emerge through the active integration of a constellation of elements in the extreme sports consumption practice. Secondly it has been found that the practice of extreme sports emerges as a heterogeneous consumption community where groups of practitioners can be classified into broader groups, according to the hedonic and eudaimonic wellbeing meanings they are pursuing, and which may interact in function of more than one subculture or social community at a time. Finally, participants co-create wellbeing through their consumption practices within the sports community being both an operand and operant resources within the community; in short, participants transform sacred, profane, material, intangible, individual, social, relational, contextual, hedonic and eudaimonic aspects of the practice within the performance of it. This study contributes TSR researchers to the understanding of both hedonic and eudaimonic wellbeing in leisure activities. The study may validate the idea that stronger ties in communities provoke a more diverse constellation of practices beyond the sport practice, expanding the knowledge of social supportive third places, commercial friendships and betrayals acknowledging their dynamics in social contexts; and the role of restorative servicescapes, expanding them to virtual and “through materials place” roles. From a managerial perspective this study shows how wellbeing is constructed within social constellations of resources that interact interdependently and go beyond commercial intent.

Comparison of physicochemical properties of bio and commercial hydroxyapatite

        A.L. Giraldo-Betancur,D.G. Espinosa-Arbelaez,A. del Real-López,B.M. Millan-Malo,E.M. Rivera-Muñoz,E. Gutierrez-Cortez,P. Pineda-Gomez,S. Jimenez-Sandoval,M.E. Rodriguez-García 한국물리학회 2013 Current Applied Physics Vol.13 No.7

This article reports a physicochemical comparison of synthetic and biological Hydroxyapatite (HAp). Eight samples were separated into two groups: bio and commercial hydroxyapatite (bio-HAp and commercial-HAp). The bio-HAp group containing defat, alkaline, and calcined samples taken from bovine bone were obtained by using three different treatments, in order to establish their effect on the final product quality. The commercial-HAp group, from different sources: NIST, sigma, apafill G, coralina, and biograft, were analyzed and compared with the bio-HAp results. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG) was used in order to establish thermal degradation of the samples; structural behavior was then analyzed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to found the crystalline phases, as well as the crystalline quality. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was performed in order to identify the corresponding HAp functional groups within the samples. The surface morphology was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and the elemental composition was established by using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). It was found that the calcination process obtains HAp with comparable quality to the commercial samples. A crystallinity greater than 62% after the alkaline process was found. Additionally, the surface of the alkaline sample presents a transition behavior between dense and porous morphology.

Palm oil as a biolubricant: Literature review of processing parameters and tribological performance

        G. Durango-Giraldo,C. Zapata-Hernandez,J.F. Santa,R. Buitrago-Sierra 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.107 No.-

Palm oil is recognized as the most widely used vegetable oil worldwide, and its market has recently experiencedan important growth mainly driven by China and India. Palm oil has significant value, not only inthe food market and as a commodity, but also as an alternative biolubricant due to its massive productionand potential to replace petroleum-based lubricants. However, as some concerns related to land use, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity have accompanied said growth, a more controlled extraction process,a better use of the extracted oil, and a higher performance of the obtained products are necessary. This study reviews the literature concerned with the processing and tribological performance of palm oil. It was found that temperature control in different palm oil production processes and some alternatives inadditivation can expand the range of options of palm oil as a biolubricant in industrial applications.

El tratamiento sobre los indios cristianos en Nueva corónica y buen gobierno de Guaman Poma

Miguel Angel Angulo Giraldo 부산외국어대학교 중남미지역원 2016 이베로아메리카 Vol.18 No.2

The present research analyzes the various indigenous peoples that Guamán Poma presents in the chapter “About the indigenous Christians from this kingdom” in The First New Chronicle and Good Government. It begins identifying three main aspects: different classifications, appreciations and characterizations of indigenous; the way in which the Andean world and the Spanish Christian world are connected in the colonial structure; and the narratives about the Indian identity to the extent that the worlds described allow new reconfigurations of being an Indian from and in relation to the “other” Spanish.

Biotea-2-Bioschemas, facilitating structured markup for semantically annotated scholarly publications

        Garcia, Leyla,Giraldo, Olga,Garcia, Alexander,Rebholz-Schuhmann, Dietrich Korea Genome Organization 2019 Genomics & informatics Vol.17 No.2

The total number of scholarly publications grows day by day, making it necessary to explore and use simple yet effective ways to expose their metadata. Schema.org supports adding structured metadata to web pages via markup, making it easier for data providers but also for search engines to provide the right search results. Bioschemas is based on the standards of schema.org, providing new types, properties and guidelines for metadata, i.e., providing metadata profiles tailored to the Life Sciences domain. Here we present our proposed contribution to Bioschemas (from the project "Biotea"), which supports metadata contributions for scholarly publications via profiles and web components. Biotea comprises a semantic model to represent publications together with annotated elements recognized from the scientific text; our Biotea model has been mapped to schema.org following Bioschemas standards.
