<P>We report a simple method for preparing transparent conductive graphene films using a chemically converted graphene (CCG) suspension that was obtained via controlled chemical reduction of exfoliated graphene oxide (GO) in the absence of dispersants. Upon thermal annealing of the CCG films, the films displayed a sheet resistance on the order of 103 Ω·◻−1 at 80% transparency (550 nm), with a bulk conductivity on the order of 102 S·cm−1. FT-IR, UV−visible, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the combination of the controlled reduction of GO in suspension and thermal annealing of the CCG films efficiently restored the sp2 carbon networks of the graphene sheets, facilitating charge carrier transport in the individual CCG sheets. Furthermore, grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction results showed that the thermal annealing of the CCG films reduced the interlayer distance between the CCG sheets to a distance comparable to that in bulk graphite, facilitating charge carrier transport across the CCG sheets. Polymer solar cell devices composed of the CCG films as transparent electrodes showed power conversion efficiencies, η, of 1.01 ± 0.05%, which corresponded to half the value (2.04 ± 0.1%) of the reference devices, in which indium tin oxide-covered glass was used for the transparent electrode.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2010/jpccck.2010.114.issue-34/jp105029m/production/images/medium/jp-2010-05029m_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/jp105029m'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
Effect of SWNT Defects on the Electron Transfer Properties in P3HT/SWNT Hybrid Materials
Geng, Jianxin,Kong, Byung-Seon,Yang, Seung Bo,Youn, Sang Cheon,Park, Sohyun,Joo, Taiha,Jung, Hee-Tae WILEY-VCH Verlag 2008 Advanced Functional Materials Vol.18 No.18
<P>Poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) hybrids with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were prepared using a series of SWNTs with various defect contents on their surfaces. The hybrids were synthesized by exploiting the π–π interaction between P3HT and the SWNTs, resulting in efficient dispersion of the carbon nanotubes in the P3HT solution. UV-visible and photoluminescence (PL) spectra showed that the carbon nanotubes quench the PL of P3HT in the hybrids, indicating that electron transfer occurs from photo-excited P3HT to the SWNTs. This electron transfer from P3HT to carbon nanotubes was disrupted by the presence of defects on the SWNT surfaces. However, the PL lifetime of P3HT in the hybrids was found to be the same as that of pure P3HT in solution, indicating the formation of a ground-state non-fluorescent complex of P3HT/SWNTs.</P> <B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>P3HT/SWNT hybrids are prepared by exploiting the π–π interaction between the two components, resulting in efficient dispersion of carbon nanotubes in P3HT solution. Uptake of organic acids by Clostridium acetobutylicum B18 was studied at controlled pH and under reduced butanol inhibition conditions. A pervaporative membrane module was placed in the fermentor to remove butanol from the fermentation broth. Uptake of added. butyric acid followed zero order kinetics at pH 4.75 and first order kinetics at pH 5.75. At pH 5.25 the kinetic order shifted from zero to first order as the butyric acid was taken up. At the point of order shift undissociated butyric acid (UBA) concentration was approximately 0.5 g/L. Unlike butyric acid, uptake of acetic acid followed first order kinetics regardless of pH. The difference in acid uptake kinetics could be explained by the combined effect of acid diffusion across the cell membrane and intracellular enzymatic reaction. The acid concentration for kinetic order shift seemed to be dependent upon pH and the kind of the acid used. Glucose was consumed simultaneously with added acids. Both butyric and acetic acids were taken up simultaneously but the rate was faster for butyric acid. Added butyric acid was completely assimilated whereas acetic acid uptake was incomplete.

Mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition of osteoblasts induced by Fam20c knockout
Geng Ya-Wei,Zhang Zhen,Jin Han,Da Jun-Long,Zhang Kai,Wang Jian-Qun,Guo Yu-Yao,Zhang Bin,Li Ying 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.2
Background: Fam20c is intimately related to tissue development and diseases. At present, it has been reported that Fam20c regulates the mineralization of osteoblasts, but there are few reports on other effects. Objective: To study the effect of Fam20c on osteoblasts by knocking out the Fam20c gene. Methods: Fam20c knockout osteoblasts were constructed by transfecting mouse osteoblasts with lentivirus. The proliferation, migration and mineralization of Fam20c knockout cells were detected by CCK-8, scratch test and alizarin red staining assays. The subcellular structure was observed by transmission electron microscopy. RT-PCR was used to detect the differential expression of mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition (MET)-related marker genes and core transcription factors. The differential expression of MET-related proteins was detected by immunofluorescence or Western blot. Transcriptome analysis of Fam20c knockout osteoblasts was performed, and real-time PCR was used to verify transcriptome analysis related to MET. Results: The proliferation ability of osteoblasts was not significantly changed after Fam20c deletion, but the migration ability and mineralization ability were significantly weakened. There were tight junctions between Fam20c knockout cells. The expression of mesenchymal cell marker genes and core transcription factors was significantly decreased, and the expression of epithelial cell marker genes was significantly increased. The expression of mesenchymal cell marker proteins was significantly decreased, and the expression of epithelial cell marker proteins was significantly increased. Multiple signalling molecules and pathways involved in MET have changed. Conclusions: Knockdown of Fam20c resulted in MET. Fam20c affects the transcription of key factors in osteoblast MET.

<P>Type III effectors AvrRpm1 and AvrRpt2 promote bacterial growth dependent on a COI1-mediated pathway in the absence of the RPM1 and RPS2 resistance proteins. The type III effectors, AvrRpm1 and AvrRpt2, promote bacterial virulence by suppressing host defense responses. The defense suppressing activities of AvrRpm1 and AvrRpt2 are best studied in the absence of the resistance proteins RPM1 and RPS2, which induce defense responses to them. We tested whether the type III effectors could modulate a CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1 (COI1)-mediated hormone signaling pathway to promote virulence. COI1 has been demonstrated to contribute in the induction of chlorosis during Pseudomonas syringae infection. By comparing the activity of inducibly expressed AvrRpm1-HA or AvrRpt2-HA in rpm1rps2 and rpm1rps2coi1 backgrounds, we demonstrate that both effectors promote bacterial growth dependent on a COI1-mediated pathway and additively with the action of coronatine (COR) and that AvrRpt2-HA induces COI1-dependent chlorosis. Further, PATHOGENESIS RELATED1 (PR-1) expression resulting from inducible expression of AvrRpm1-HA or AvrRpt2-HA is elevated in coi1 plants consistent with the effectors activating JA-signaling to antagonize SA-signaling. In addition, we found that AvrRpm1-HA or AvrRpt2-HA requires COI1 to promote bacterial growth through suppression of both SA-dependent and SA-independent defense responses. Collectively, these results indicate that type III effectors AvrRpm1 and AvrRpt2 promote bacterial virulence by targeting a COI1-dependent signaling pathway.</P>
