This experimental study describes the texture and anisotropy of an Al 2024, a high strength-to-weight aluminum alloy with its near-net-shape deformation is viable candidate for structural applications in a variety of aerospace structures. Initially its grain size was coarse; cold-rollingcan cause severe alignment of the specific crystallographic plane, resulting in orientations of the texture across the plate thickness. Also, non-uniform deformation with pronounced shear texture along the rolling direction induced on the surface layer of the cold-rolled plate. This texture change was measured, X-ray diffraction, by measuring pole figures and analysis. The variation of anisotropy of the material by micro-indentation method. Themechanical properties vary as a function of depth, from rolling surface towards center.
