In this paper, we obtain a Korovkin type approximation theorem for double sequences of positive linear operators of two variables from Hw (K) to C (K) via A-statistical convergence. Also, we construct an example such that our new approximation result works but its classical case does not work. Furthermore, we study the rates of A-statistical convergence by means of the modulus of continuity.

Ensuring the removal of complex dyes from wastewater is a topic of great interest as it is vital for the environment. The present study reports a facile preparation method for poly(o-phenylenediamine) [p(o-PDA)] micro-particles loaded tomagnetic carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogel beads as adsorbents. The prepared products were characterized by FTIR,TGA, VSM, SEM, BET, and zeta sizer. The Fe3O4@p(o-PDA)@CMC beads were used for the removal of Reactive Blue 4(RB-4) and Congo Red (CR) textile dyes from an aqueous medium. Different factors, such as adsorbent dose, initial pH, ionicstrength, contact time, temperatures, and initial RB-4 and CR concentrations were examined. The maximum adsorptioncapacities of the RB-4 dye and CR at optimum pH 5 reached 398.7 and 524.6 mg/g in 120 min, respectively. The adsorptionof RB-4 and CR on the hybrid magnetic beads can be due to the electrostatic, hydrogen bonding, and π-π interactions. Moreover, the magnetic hybrid beads showed easy regeneration ability and good reusability. The adsorbent can be a verygood candidate for the efficient removal of micro-pollutant from wastewater.
Total Serum Oxidant/Antioxidant Status and Arylesterase Activity in Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory disorder of the oral mucosa with unknown etiology. Oxidative stress (OS) is suggested to play a main role in the etiopathogenesis in RAS. Objective: In this study, we hypothesize that a systemic OS is present in patients with RAS. Methods: Forty-four patients with active RAS lesions and 38 healthy controls were being included in the study. Serum total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), oxidative stress index (OSI), and paraoxonase 1arylesterase (ARES) activity were being determined. Results:RAS patients had significantly lower TAS levels and higher TOS and OSI values than controls. The patients had a lower ARES activity when compared to healthy controls. No correlations were observed between OS parameters and age, gender, duration of disease or frequency of RAS attacks per month. Conclusion: A systemic OS is determined with an imbalance in oxidant/antioxidant status and lower ARES activity in RAS. Systemic OS may have an important role in the pathogenesis of RAS formation.

Signaling pathways activated by leptin in metabolically important organs have largely been studied only in animal and/or cell culture studies. In this study, we examined whether leptin has similar effects in human peripheral tissues in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro and whether the response would be different in lean and obese humans. For in vivo leptin signaling, metreleptin was administered and muscle, adipose tissue, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were taken for analysis of signal activation. Experiments were also done ex vivo and with primary cultured cells in vitro. The signal activation was compared between male versus female and obese versus lean humans. Acute in vivo, ex vivo, and/or in vitro metreleptin administration similarly activated STAT3, AMPK, ERK1/2, Akt, mTOR, NF-κB, and/or IKKα/β without any differences between male versus female and obese versus lean subjects. All signaling pathways were saturable at ~30-50 ng/mL, consistent with the clinical evidence showing no additional effect(s) in obese subjects who already have high levels of leptin. Our data provide novel information on downstream effectors of metreleptin action in humans that may have therapeutic implications.

Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis NCCB100539 isolated from an artisanal raw ewe’s milk cheese was evaluated as a potential starter culture in white-brined cheese. As a safety criteria, the cytotoxicity of the viable and heat-killed cells and CFE of this strain were determined on Caco-2 cell line by MTT assay. The antibiotic sensitivity of the strain to nine different antibiotics was also investigated. Cheeses produced using this strain were compared with control cheese in terms of physicochemical, microbiological, sensory properties as well as the peptide and volatile profiles during the 90-days of ripening period. Experimental cheeses had more extensive proteolysis as well as higher sensory scores. Incorporated L. lactis also led to an improvement in the microbial cheese quality. Neither living nor the dead cells and CFE of the strain showed cytotoxicity on Caco-2 cells. Therefore, L. lactis NCCB100539 strain could be a good starter candidate for the industrial white-brined cheeses.
Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of the COVID Stress Scale
Demirgoz Bal, Meltem,Di?siz, Melike,Bayri Bingol, Fadime 한국간호과학회 2021 Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Vol.51 No.5
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the Turkish adaptation of the COVID Stress Scale (CSS) on the basis of determining the stress caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, and to test its validity and reliability. Methods: The English CSS was translated into Turkish using forward and backward translation. Data were collected online from 360 participants. Construct validity was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and content validity. Pearson product-moment correlation, Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient, and test-retest methods were used to evaluate reliability. Results: The Turkish version of the CSS has 36 items consistent with the original scale and has five factors: COVID danger and contamination, socioeconomic consequences of COVID, COVID xenophobia, traumatic stress due to COVID, and compulsive checking for COVID. The construct validity of the Turkish version of the CSS was verified by the adjusted goodness of fit index > .85, and comparative fit index > .95. The content validity index of each item was 91%. The corrected item-total correlations of the scale ranged from .51 to .89. Internal consistency was reliable, with a Cronbach’s α of .93. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the CSS is valid and reliable. It can be used as a measurement tool for the assessment of COVID-related stress.
