A measurement is performed of the cross section of top quark pair production in association with a W or Z boson using proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1), collected by the CMS experiment in 2016. The measurement is performed in the same-sign dilepton, three-and four-lepton final states. The production cross sections are measured to be sigma(t (t) over barW) = 0.77(-0.11)(+0.12)(stat)(-0.12)(+0.13) pb and sigma(t (t) over barZ) = 0.99(-0.08)(+0.09) (stat)(-0.10)(+0.12) (syst) pb. The expected (observed) signal signi fi cance for the sigma(t (t) over barW production in same-sign dilepton channel is found to be 4.5 (5.3) standard deviations, while for the t (t) over barZ production in three- and four-lepton channels both the expected and the observed signi fi cances are found to be in excess of 5 standard deviations. The results are in agreement with the standard model predictions and are used to constrain the Wilson coe ffi cients for eight dimension-six operators describing new interactions that would modify t (t) over barW and t (t) over barZ production.

Hymenobacter daecheongensis sp. nov., isolated from stream sediment
Xu, J.-L.,Liu, Q.-M.,Yu, H.-S.,Jin, F.-X.,Lee, S.-T.,Im, W.-T. Microbiology Society 2009 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.59 No.5

A Gram-negative, strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped, red-pink bacterium, designated strain Dae14(T), was isolated from stream sediment collected near Daecheong Dam, South Korea, and its taxonomic position was investigated by using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain Dae14(T) belonged to the genus Hymenobacter. Sequence similarities between strain Dae14(T) and the type strains of Hymenobacter species with validly published names ranged from 91.3 to 94.3 %. The predominant cellular fatty acids of strain Dae14(T) were iso-C(15 : 0), C(16 : 1)omega5c, summed feature 5 (iso-C(17 : 1) I and/or anteiso-C(17 : 1) B) and iso-C(16 : 0). The DNA G+C content was 62.2 mol%. Results of phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic characterization indicated that strain Dae14(T) can be distinguished from all known Hymenobacter species and represents a novel species, for which the name Hymenobacter daecheongensis sp. nov. is proposed, with Dae14(T) (=KCTC 22258(T)=LMG 24498(T)) as the type strain.

A search is presented for the associated production of a Higgs boson with a top quark pair in the all-jet final state. Events containing seven or more jets are selected from a sample of proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). To separate the t (t) over barH signal from the irreducible t (t) over bar + b (b) over bar background, the analysis assigns leading order matrix element signal and background probability densities to each event. A likelihood-ratio statistic based on these probability densities is used to extract the signal. The results are provided in terms of an observed t (t) over barH signal strength relative to the standard model production cross section mu = sigma/sigma(SM), assuming a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV. The best fit value is (mu) over cap = 0.9 +/- 0.7(stat) +/- 1.3(syst) = 0.9 +/- 1.5 (tot), and the observed and expected upper limits are, respectively, mu < 3.8 and < 3.1 at 95% confidence levels.

Spirosoma panaciterrae sp. nov., isolated from soil
Ten, L. N.,Xu, J.-L.,Jin, F.-X.,Im, W.-T.,Oh, H.-M.,Lee, S.-T. Microbiology Society 2009 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.59 No.2

A Gram-negative, yellowish bacterial strain, designated Gsoil 1519(T), was isolated from soil of a ginseng field in Pocheon province (South Korea) and characterized using a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain Gsoil 1519(T) belongs to the family 'Flexibacteraceae' and is related to Spirosoma rigui KCTC 12531(T) (91.8 % similarity) and Spirosoma linguale LMG 10896(T) (91.5 % similarity). Phylogenetic distances from any other recognized species within the family 'Flexibacteraceae' were greater than 14.7 %. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain Gsoil 1519(T) was 50.1 %. The detection of MK-7 as the predominant menaquinone and a fatty acid profile with C(16 : 1)omega5c, summed feature 4 (C(16 : 1)omega7c and/or iso-C(15 : 0) 2-OH), iso-C(15 : 0) and C(16 : 0) as the major acids supported the affiliation of strain Gsoil 1519(T) to the genus Spirosoma. On the basis of its phenotypic properties and phylogenetic distinctiveness, strain Gsoil 1519(T) should be classified in the genus Spirosoma as a representative of a novel species, for which the name Spirosoma panaciterrae sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is Gsoil 1519(T) (=KCTC 22263(T)=DSM 21099(T)).

Effect of Cattle Breeds on Milk Composition and Technological Characteristics in China
Yang, T.X.,Li, H.,Wang, F.,Liu, X.L.,Li, Q.Y. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.6
Cattle breeds have a striking effect on milk, including milk composition and technological characteristics. This study aims to compare milk composition, acidification activity, viscosity, milk dispersion system stability and casein molecular weight among three buffalo breeds in China. The technological characteristics of milk produced by three cattle breeds of river buffalo (Murrah), crossbreed 1st generation ($F_1$), crossbreed multiple generation ($F_H$, $H{\geq}3$) buffaloes were investigated. Cattle breeds showed evident effect on milk protein, fat and total solids content, but little effect on most of buffalo casein molecular weight. Milk fat, protein content and the viscosity of buffalo milk from river buffalo were lower than those of $F_1$ and $F_H$, so was the buffer capacity. The viscosity was negatively correlated to temperature and concentration. Results of stability coefficient showed that milk dispersion system had the best dynamic stability characteristics under pH 6.6 and 6 times dilution, while zeta potential of Murrah milk was slightly higher than that of hybrid offspring ($F_1$, $F_H$). SDS-PAGE results showed that buffalo ${\alpha}_s$-casein had a slightly faster mobility than standard ${\alpha}_s$-casein; while buffalo ${\beta}$-casein showed a slightly slower mobility than standard ${\beta}$-casein. There is no clear differences in molecular weight of ${\alpha}_s$-, ${\beta}$-, and ${\kappa}$-casein among Murrah, $F_1$ and $F_H$.

We measure the forward-backward asymmetry of the production of top-quark and antiquark pairs in proton-antiproton collisions at center-of-mass energy root s = 1.96 TeV using the full data set collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) in Tevatron Run II corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.1 fb(-1). The asymmetry is characterized by the rapidity difference between top quarks and antiquarks (Delta y) and measured in the final state with two charged leptons (electrons and muons). The inclusive asymmetry, corrected to the entire phase space at parton level, is measured to be A(FB)(t (t) over bar) = 0.12 +/- 0.13, consistent with the expectations from the standard model (SM) and previous CDF results in the final state with a single charged lepton. The combination of the CDF measurements of the inclusive A(FB)(t (t) over bar) in both final states yields A(FB)(t (t) over bar) 0.160 +/- 0.045, which is consistent with the SM predictions. We also measure the differential asymmetry as a function of Delta y. A linear fit to A(FB)(t (t) over bar) (vertical bar Delta y vertical bar),assuming zero asymmetry at Delta y = 0, yields a slope of alpha = 0.14 +/- 0.15, consistent with the SM prediction and the previous CDF determination in the final state with a single charged lepton. The combined slope of A(FB)(t (t) over bar) (vertical bar Delta y vertical bar) the two final states is alpha = 0.227 +/- 0.057, which is 2.0 sigma larger than the SM prediction.

T-type Ca2+ channels (T-channels) are involved in the control of neuronal excitability and their gating can be modulated by a variety of redox agents. Ascorbate is an endogenous redox agent that can function as both an anti- and pro-oxidant. Here, we show that ascorbate selectively inhibits native Ca(v)3.2 T-channels in peripheral and central neurons, as well as recombinant Ca(v)3.2 channels heterologously expressed in human embryonic kidney 293 cells, by initiating the metal-catalyzed oxidation of a specific, metal-binding histidine residue in domain 1 of the channel. Our biophysical experiments indicate that ascorbate reduces the availability of Ca(v)3.2 channels over a wide range of membrane potentials, and inhibits Ca(v)3.2-dependent low-threshold-Ca2+ spikes as well as burst-firing in reticular thalamic neurons at physiologically relevant concentrations. This study represents the first mechanistic demonstration of ion channel modulation by ascorbate, and suggests that ascorbate may function as an endogenous modulator of neuronal excitability.

Three hundred and fifty-two growing pigs were utilized in three growth trials to investigate the effects of crystalline amino acid supplementation on growing pigs' growth performance and feed consumption. In Exp. 1, diets were formulated on the basis of digestible amino acids. Utilization of rapeseed meal plus cottonseed meal (R + C) in diet supported similar average daily gain (ADG), feed/gain (F/G) and cost per gain (p > 0.05) to group of soybean meal (SBM). In Exp. 2, 14% CP diets containing equal amount of cottonseed meal and rapeseed meal were formulated with the addition of threonine and/or tryptophan. Supplementation with threonine improved ADG and F/G (p < 0.05). Supplementation with only tryptophan made no benefits for ADG of growing pigs. In Exp. 3, diets with different threonine level were formulated. Increasing dietary threonine to 0.54% improved (p < 0.05) ADG and F/G compared to 0.45% dietary threonine. Increase in dietary threonine did not improve ADG (p > 0.05) but decreased F/G (p < 0.05) because of a decrease in average daily feed intake. Pigs fed diet with dietary threonine/lysine ratio of 67.5% supported optimum growth performance.

Abstract

A new QTL for spikelets per panicle (SPP) was detected on the long arm of chromosome 7 in an F2 population derived from a cross between the japonica cultivar Hwaseongbyeo and WH29001. WH29001, an advanced backcross line was developed by introgressing chromosomal segments from an accession of O. minuta (2n = 48, BBCC, Acc. no. 101141) into the O. sativa subsp. japonica cv. Hwaseongbyeo. The O. minuta allele increased SPP in the Hwaseongbyeo background despite the fact that O. minuta was the small panicle parent. Using F3 and F4 progenies, spp7 was validated and mapped to a 2.3 Mb region in the interval between the SSR markers RM445 and RM21615 based on the japonica genome sequence. A yield trial using F4 lines indicated that the lines carrying an O. minuta chromosome segment across the entire spp7 target region out-yielded its sister lines containing Hwaseongbyeo chromosome in the target region and Hwaseongbyeo by 14.3% and 15.9%, respectively. Increase in SPP in WH29001 was mainly because of the increase in primary branches per panicle. The locus, spp7 is of particular interest because of its independence from undesirable height and flowering time. SSR markers tightly linked to the spp7 will facilitate cloning of the gene underlying this QTL as well as marker-assisted selection for variation in SPP in an applied breeding program.

A central effort in HIV vaccine development is to generate protective broadly neutralizing antibodies, a process dependent on T follicular helper (Tfh) cells. The feasibility of using peripheral blood counterparts of lymph node Tfh cells to assess the immune response and the influence of viral and vaccine antigens on their helper functions remain obscure. We assessed circulating HIV-specific IL-21(+) CD4(+) T cells and showed transcriptional and phenotypic similarities to lymphoid Tfh cells, and hence representing peripheral Tfh (pTfh) cells. pTfh cells were functionally active and B cell helper quality differed depending on antigen specificity. Furthermore, we found higher frequency of pTfh cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cell specimens from the ALVAC+AIDSVAX (RV144) HIV vaccine trial associated with protective antibody responses compared to the non-protective DNA+Ad5 vaccine trial. Together, we identify IL-21(+) CD4(+) T cells as pTfh cells, implicating them as key populations in the generation of vaccine-evoked antibody responses.
