        PERFECT FOLDING OF THE PLANE

        In this paper we introduced the concept of perfect folding defined on E 2 which equipped by perfect k-coloring of r-monohedral tillings. Then we studied the different cases of perfect foldings of 4-monohedral and 3-monohedral tillings of E 2 . Also the permutations describe each folding are obtained.

        Eco-friendly Synthesis of New Polyfunctional Azo Dyes Using Shrimp Chitin as a Catalyst: Application on Polyester Fabrics and Their Biological Activities

        A series of varying and poly-functionalized heterocyclic compounds 3a-c, 4d-k, 6a,b, 8, 9, and 12 containing azofunction have been synthesized using 2-(1-(4-aminophenyl)ethylidene)malononitrile (1) and/or its diazonium salt as buildingblocks. In addition, new pyridazine derivatives 4a-c, 7a,b, and 13a-f were synthesized. Subsequent treating of the resultedazo dyes moieties with different reagents in conventional and green conditions using microwave irradiation and shrimp chitinas a green catalyst; homo- and hetero-molecules containing azo dyes were gathered. The obtained azo dyes were applied onfabrics at high temperatures and their properties such as washing fastness using standard soap (SDS) and rubbing fastness(wet and dry) under controlled conditions of pressure, speed, and moisture were studied. In addition, they were screened fortheir biological activities on two bacterial and two mycolic species. The synthesized products were characterized by theirelemental and spectral analyses such as IR, MS, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectra. The produced dyestuffs 3a-c, 4d, f, h, i, j,6a,b, 8, and 12 were dyed on polyester fabrics, and subsequently their dyeing properties and their light, washing, perspiration,rubbing, and sublimation fastness was determined and the dyed samples showed very good fastness levels to rubbing,washing, thermal fixation, good light, and possessed very good perspiration fastness.

      • Deconstructing Opinion Survey: A Case Study

        Questionnaires and surveys are increasingly being used to collect information from participants of empirical software engineering studies. Usually, such data is analyzed using statistical methods to show an overall picture of participants' agreement or disagreement. In general, the whole survey population is considered as one group with some methods to extract varieties. Sometimes, there are different opinions in the same group, but they are not well discovered. In some cases of the analysis, the population may be divided into subgroups according to some data. The opinions of different segments of the population may be the same. Even though the existing approach can capture the general trends, there is a risk that the opinions of different sub-groups are lost. The problem becomes more complex in longitudinal studies where minority opinions might fade over time. Longitudinal survey data may include several interesting patterns that can be extracted using a clustering process. It can discover new information and give attention to different opinions. We suggest using a data mining approach to finding the diversity among the different groups in longitudinal studies. Our study shows that diversity can be revealed and tracked over time using the clustering approach, and the minorities have an opportunity to be heard.

        The effect of geometrical parameters on the radon emanation coefficient and different radon parameters

        Radon is a radioactive gas produced from the uranium-238 series. Radon gas affects public health and is the second cause of lung cancer. The study samples were collected from one area of the city of Jazan, southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The influence of engineering and physical parameters on the emanation coefficient of gas and other gas parameters was studied. Parameters for radon were measured using a CR-39 Solid-State Nuclear Track Detector (SSNTD) through a sealed emission container. The results showed that the emanation coefficient was affected directly by the change in the grain size of the soil. All parameters of measured radon gas have the same behavior as the emanation coefficient. The relationship between particle size and emanation coefficient showed a good correlation. The values of the emanation coefficient were inversely affected by the mass of the sample, and the rest of the parameters showed an inverse behavior. The results showed that increasing the volume of the container increases the accumulation of radon sons on the wall of the container, which increases the emission factor. The rest of the parameters of radon gas showed an inverse behavior with increasing container size. The results concluded that changing the engineering and physical parameters has a significant impact on both the emanation coefficient and all radon parameters. The emanation coefficient affects the values of the radiation dose of an alpha particle.

        Empaglifl ozin alleviates neuronal apoptosis induced by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury through HIF-1a/VEGF signaling pathway

        Ischemic stroke is a serious condition associatedwith severe functional disability and high mortality,however; eff ective therapy remains elusive. Empaglifl ozin,a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, has been shownto exert additional non-glycemic benefi ts including antiapoptoticeff ects in diff erent disease settings. Thereby, thisstudy was designed to investigate the ameliorative eff ect ofempaglifl ozin on the neuronal apoptosis exhibited in cerebralischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in a rat model targetingHIF-1α/VEGF signaling which is involved in this insult. Global cerebral I/R injury was induced in male Wistar ratsthrough occlusion of the bilateral common carotid arteriesfor 30 min followed by one-hour reperfusion. Empaglifl ozindoses of 1 and 10 mg/kg were administered 1 and 24 h afterreperfusion. In I/R-injured rats, empaglifl ozin treatmentssignifi cantly reduced infarct size and enhanced neurobehavioralfunctions in a dose-dependent manner. The drugalleviated neuronal death and cerebral injury infl icted byglobal ischemia as it suppressed neuronal caspase-3 proteinexpression. In parallel, protein expressions of HIF-1αand its downstream mediator VEGF were upregulated inthe ischemic brain following empaglifl ozin treatment. Theresults indicated that empaglifl ozin attenuates cerebral I/Rinducedneuronal death via the HIF-1α/VEGF cascade.
