LEE, El-Hang,YUN, Wan Soo,PARK, Kang-Ho,YI, Jae-Yel,HA, Jeong Sook,PARK, Seong-Ju 東亞大學校附設基礎科學硏究所 1998 基礎科學硏究論文集 Vol.15 No.1
We investigated 5√3×5√3 atomic structure of an Sb-passivated Si(111) surface using low energy electron diffraction(LEED) and scanning tunneling Microscope (STM). This interesting structure with large unit cell has been analyzed with high resolution STM images in detail. The proper structural model is suggested in order to describe the STM image and other experimental results. They are understood within the frame of Si(111)-5×5 DAS (dimer adatom stacking fault) structure having the site-selective replacement of Si atoms with Sb atoms.
Semiconductor Hetero Structures form Quantum to 3-D Stacking:the Art , Science and Technology
Lee, El Hang 대한전자공학회 1991 ICVC : International Conference on VLSI and CAD Vol.2 No.1
Recent progresses and trends in the state-of-the-art of the semiconductor heterostructure-related science and technology are reviewed. Covered issues include those of both quantum heterostructures and grossly mismatched ones. Fundamental issues as well as specific issues with respect to particular structures are examined. Because of limited space, the review is centered on selective issues and structures of technological interest. First the importance of semiconductor heterostructure is briefly described in light of technological and historical context. The physics and chemistry of heteroepitaxial processes, associated with various epitaxial techniques, are then reviewed in terms of related merits and demerits. Also covered are materials and device issues related to quantum heterostructures as well as to the grossly-mismatched heterostructures. Special attention is given to the feterostructures on silicon. Central issues relating to these structures include those stemming from both the matches and mismatches of lattice, thermal and chemical origin. Ways to utilize the heterostructures and prospects for future directions are discussed along with technological implications of the semiconductor heterostructures.

KIST301135 was semi-synthetically prepared by the reaction of Staurosporine with triphosgene in anhydrous dichloromethane. The structure of KIST301135 was confirmed by $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR, and high resolution mass spectrum. KIST301135 was initially tested in a single dose duplicate mode at a concentration of 20 nM over a panel of 53 kinases against Staurosporine as a positive control. KIST301135 has showed inhibitions above 75% in only 2 kinases (FLT3 and JAK3 kinases) of the 53 tested kinases, while Staurosporine has showed inhibitions above 80% in about 62% of the tested kinases. KIST301135 was retested at a 5-dose testing mode over the 9 kinases inhibited by percentages over 20 at the single dose testing in order to determine its $IC_{50}$ values. KIST301135 has shown much improved kinase inhibitory selectivity relative to Staurosporine in its potency at JAK3 kinase and CAMK2b kinase.

Background/Aims: Endoscopic resection has become the preferred treatment approach for select early esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC); however, the epidemiology of early stage disease has not been well defined. Methods: Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) data were analyzed to determine age-adjusted incidence rates amongmajor epithelial carcinomas, including EAC, from 1973 to 2017. The percent change in incidence over time was compared according totumor subtype. Early T-stage, node-negative EAC without metastasis was examined from 2004 to 2017 when precise T-stage data wereavailable. Results: The percent change in annual incidence from 1973 to 2017 was 767% for EAC. Joinpoint analysis showed that the average annualpercent change in EAC from 1973 to 2017 was 5.11% (95% confidence interval, 4.66%−5.56%). The annual percent change appearedto plateau between 2004 and 2017; however, early EAC decreased from 2010 to 2017, with an annual percent change of −5.78%. Conclusions: There has been a 7-fold increase in the incidence of EAC, which was significantly greater than that of the other major epithelialmalignancies examined. More recently, the incidence of early EAC has been decreasing. Approximately one in five patients hasnode negative, potentially resectable early stage disease.

Objective Metabolic abnormalities, e.g., diabetes, are common among schizophrenia patients. Peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) regulates glucose/lipid metabolisms, and schizophrenia like syndrome may be induced by actions involving retinoid X receptor-α/PPAR-γ heterodimers. We examined a possible role of the PPAR-γ gene in metabolic traits and psychosis profile in schizophrenia patients exposed to antipsychotics. Methods Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the PPAR-γ gene and a serial of metabolic traits were determined in 394 schizophrenia patients, among which 372 were rated with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results SNP-10, -12, -18, -19, -20 and -26 were associated with glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) whereas SNP-18, -19, -20 and -26 were associated with fasting plasma glucose (FPG). While SNP-23 was associated with triglycerides, no associations were identified between the other SNPs and lipids. Further haplotype analysis demonstrated an association between the PPAR-γ gene and psychosis profile. Conclusion Our study suggests a role of the PPAR-γ gene in altered glucose levels and psychosis profile in schizophrenia patients exposed to antipsychotics. Although the Pro12Ala at exon B has been concerned an essential variant in the development of obesity, the lack of association of the variant with metabolic traits in this study should not be treated as impossibility or a proof of error because other factors, e.g., genes regulated by PPAR-γ, may have complicated the development of metabolic abnormalities. Whether the PPAR-γ gene modifies the risk of metabolic abnormalities or psychosis, or causes metabolic abnormalities that lead to psychosis, remains to be examined.

We have derived a nonlinear spatiotemporal differential equation for space-charge fields from Kukhtarev’s material equations in a moving coordinate system and obtained the spatial subharmonic instability boundaries by using linear stability analysis. It is also found that there is an analogy between the temporal subharmonic and the spatial subharmonc instabilities in the sense that the governing differential equations describing the instability boundaries are formally identical. The experiments for generating spatial subharmonic waves are performed in a photorefractive $Bi_{12}SiO_{20}$ crystal by using conventional moving grating technique. The threshold detunings are experimentally determined and the results are compared with the theory.
Single Adatom Exchange in Surfactant-Mediated Epitaxial Growth
Yi, Jae Yel,Lee, El Hang,Ko, Young Jo,Park, Seong Ju,Chang, K. J. 東亞大學校附設基礎科學硏究所 1997 基礎科學硏究論文集 Vol.14 No.1
We propose a single adatom exchange mechanism for surfactant-mediated epitaxial growth through first-principles calculations for the Si epitaxy on a si(001) surface covered by an As monolayer. The As segregation is initiated by the exchange of a Si adatom with a sublayer As site, with an activation energy of about 0.1 eV which is much lower than the value of ∼ 1.0 eV for a dimer exchange. Adatom incorporation occurs with minimum surface diffusion, giving rise to a high nucleation density of two-dimensional islands, in good agreement with experiments. [S0031-9007(96)00055-5]
