Crystal Structure of Monoclinic RbD2PO4 in the Ferrielectric Phase
Eisuke Magome,M Komuke,M Machida 한국물리학회 2007 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.51 No.2I
We determined the crystal structure of monoclinic RbD2PO4 in the ferrielectric phase (phase III) by means of neutron diffraction measurements. The structure refinement converged at Rw = 0.0594. The deuterium atoms associated with the hydrogen bonds along the b axis are ordered in phase III. There are four kinds of PO4 tetrahedra in phase III. We show that the ferrielectricity of phase III is explained by four kinds of PO4 tetrahedra.?

The generation of quasi-monoenergetic electron beams containing more than 3 × 108 electrons in a monoenergetic peak for energies from 40 to 60 MeV has been demonstrated. The quasimonoenergetic electron beams have been obtained from a plasma with an electron density of 1.6 × 1019 cm−3 produced by an 8-TW, 50-fs Ti:sapphire laser pulse. It is necessary to control the plasma density precisely and to suppress the nanosecond prepulse with the main pulse for stable generation of quasi-monoenergetic beams. Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation results are also shown. The simulation result suggests that quasi-monoenergetic beam generation is brought about by matching the laser propagation length with the gas jet length.
Nutritional status of calcium and other bone-related nutrients in Japanese type 2 diabetes patients
Eisuke Tomastu,Eri Ninomiya,Mizuho Ando,Izumi Hiratsuka,Yasumasa Yoshino,Sahoko Sekiguchi-Ueda,Megumi Shibata,Akemi Ito 대한골다공증학회 2016 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.2 No.2
Objective: Traditional Japanese food appears to be healthy but contains a small amount of milk products. Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients commonly reduce their energy intake to control their blood glucose levels. However, nutritional guidance for diabetes does not emphasize calcium (Ca) consumption. The aim of this study is to estimate the nutritional status of Ca and other nutrients, which affect bone and Ca metabolism, in T2DM patients. Methods: This observational study was conducted with Japanese T2DM patients (n ¼ 96; M/F ¼ 50/46; age: 61.6 ± 10.1 years). We estimated nutrient intake using a simple food frequency questionnaire. Results: Median total energy intake was 1750 kcal/day (1440e1970). Their median daily intake of Ca, vitamin D, and vitamin K was 451 mg (336e560), 10.2 mg (8.5e12), and 206 mg (84e261), respectively. Only 17.7% of the study subjects were found to take more than 600 mg/day of Ca. Protein and salt intake was 78 (64e90) and 10.6 (9.3e12.2) g/day, respectively. Male subjects had more salt, less Ca and vitamin K than female. Daily Ca intake was positively associated with total energy, protein, and lipid intake but not with carbohydrates. Vitamin D intake correlated only with protein intake. Conclusion: The daily Ca intake of Japanese T2DM patients appears to be insufficient and could depend on protein and lipid intake. Additionally, these patients should have specific recommendations to ensure sufficient intake of Ca with protein and lipid during energy restriction. © 2016 The Korean Society of Osteoporosis. Electronic publishing, vaguely defined area of activities and vaguely defined scope of products, is consisting of electronic or computerized processing of text, images, graphics for publication in one of electronic forms and also in a traditional printing on paper. As it is vague in scope, topics of this paper are of diverse interests. Technological developments related to electronic publishing are rapid in Japan. Activities and events by various organizations, both in the private sector and the public sector, are not few, and interlaced.

Surface structure and molecular orientation of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed by the spontaneous adsorption of tetrahydrothiophene (THT) and thiophene (TP) on Au(111) were investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and carbon K-edge near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. STM imaging revealed that THT SAMs have a commensurate (3 × 2√3) structure containing structural defects in ordered domains, whereas TP SAMs are composed of randomly adsorbed domains and paired molecular row domains that can be described as an incommensurate packing structure. The NEXAFS spectroscopy study showed that the average tilt angle of the aliphatic THT ring and π-conjugated TP ring in the SAMs were calculated to be about 30o and 40o, respectively, from the surface normal. It was also observed that the π* transition peak in the NEXAFS spectrum of the TP SAMs is very weak, suggesting that a strong interaction between π-electrons and the Au surface arises during the self-assembly of TP molecules. In this study, we have clearly demonstrated that the surface structure and adsorption orientation of organic SAMs on Au(111) are strongly influenced by whether the cyclic ring is saturated or unsaturated.
A Safe and Reliable Method for Installing Wireless LAN into a Hospital
Eisuke Hanada,Takato Kudou 한국전자파학회JEES 2011 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.11 No.4
A medical environment in which patient information can be accessed anytime / anywhere is called a “ubiquitous environment”. To realize such an environment, the installation of wireless LAN is quite effective. Because the maximum radio wave output (antenna power) is set low in Japan, it has been easy to safely introduce wireless LAN into hospitals, to date mainly into large hospitals. However, if the placement of access points is not done properly, problems will occur, such as signals not reaching the desired area. A solution to these types of problems is to do an electromagnetic-field propagation simulation, which should be performed before construction of the hospital. It is also necessary to protect against security problems, such as signal interception or illegal access. We herein show our procedures for the safe introduction of wireless LAN.

Surface potential and growth processes of hexadecanethiol (HDT) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au(111) surfaces were examined by Kelvin probe method and scanning tunneling microscopy. It was found that surface potential strongly depends on surface structure of HDT SAMs. The surface potential shift for the striped phase of HDT SAMs chemisorbed on Au(111) surface was +0.45 eV, which was nearly the same as that of the flat-lying hexadecane layer physisorbed on Au(111) surface. This result indicates that the interfacial dipole layer induced by adsorption of alkyl chains is a main contributor to the surface potential change. In the densely-packed HDT monolayer, further change of the surface potential was observed, suggesting that the dipole moment of the alkanethiol molecules is an origin of the surface potential change. These results indicate that the work function of a metal electrode can be modified by controlling the molecular orientation of an adsorbed molecule.
Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid in Endurance Performance and Cardiovascular Function
( Eisuke Ochi ),( Yosuke Tsuchiya ) 한국운동생리학회(구 한국운동과학회) 2019 운동과학 Vol.28 No.4
Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA; 20:5 n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; 22:6 n-3). Consumption of EPA and DHA has been expected to improve fatigue recovery, endurance performance, antioxidant production, and anti-inflammatory responses. Therefore, this review aimed to evaluate the effects of omega-3 fatty acid on endurance performance as evaluated by human and animal studies and summarizes its effects on cardiovascular and endothelial functions. METHODS: This review summarized the effects of EPA and DHA supplementation on the maximum oxygen uptake, exercise economy, muscle endurance performance, and cardiovascular and endothelial functions. RESULTS: Effects of EPA and DHA supplementation on the maximum oxygen uptake are controversial. However, it has been suggested to improve the exercise economy and make the continuation of exercise easier. EPA and DHA supplementation could also improve endurance performance in the peripheral muscles. In addition, they may improve cardiovascular and vascular endothelial functions at rest and have positive effects on the heart rate, stroke volume, and cardiac output during a submaximal exercise. CONCLUSIONS: This review concluded that EPA and DHA are considered effective in improving endurance performance in the peripheral muscles and cardiovascular function.
