      • Therapeutic Silence in Spiritual Care: Lessons from Eli and Job’s Friends

        ( Sikhumbuzo Dube2 ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2019 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.19 No.-

Individuals in pastoral ministry may be so used to “preaching the word,” offering guidance and exhortation that they may forget when it is necessary to observe silence. Their inner chatter that is motivated by unhealed wounds may be the contributing factor to their failure to effectively use silence. In their view, maintaining quietness in cases of grief may seem to be indicative of the lack of solutions for the presenting problems. This article explores the use of silence in providing spiritual care. It is based on the stories of Hannah’s grief and Job’s crisis. The responses of Eli and Job’s friends in the face of a calamity may be representative of some spiritual care responses. In order to arrive at the desired end of this article, the strong and weak points of priest Eli and Job’s three friends are reviewed. A theological study of 1 Samuel 1:9 to 16, Job 2:11 to 13 and their immediate contexts is engaged in to understand the effect of the silence and some portions of Job are examined to assess the effect of their words. The pitfalls of inappropriate use of silence by Job’s friends are also dealt with. The impact of power dynamics at play and inner chatter in both narratives is looked into. The use of power dynamics as it relates to therapeutic silence in providing care is explored. Further to that, current findings on the use of silence in the fields of chaplaincy, spiritual care, psychotherapy and counselling are utilised.

Piezothermoelastic solution for angle-ply laminated plate in cylindrical bending

        Dube, G.P.,Upadhyay, M.M.,Dumir, P.C.,Kumar, S. Techno-Press 1998 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.6 No.5

Generalised plane strain solution is presented for simply supported, angle-ply laminated hybrid plate under cylindrical bending. The arbitrary constants in the general solution of the governing differential equations are obtained from the boundary and interface conditions. The response of hybrid plates to sinusoidal loads is obtained to illustrate the effect of the thickness parameter and the ply-angle. The classical lamination theory and the first order shear deformation theory are also assessed.

RINGS IN WHICH SUMS OF d-IDEALS ARE d-IDEALS

Dube, Themba Korean Mathematical Society 2019 대한수학회지 Vol.56 No.2

An ideal of a commutative ring is called a d-ideal if it contains the annihilator of the annihilator of each of its elements. Denote by DId(A) the lattice of d-ideals of a ring A. We prove that, as in the case of f-rings, DId(A) is an algebraic frame. Call a ring homomorphism "compatible" if it maps equally annihilated elements in its domain to equally annihilated elements in the codomain. Denote by $SdRng_c$ the category whose objects are rings in which the sum of two d-ideals is a d-ideal, and whose morphisms are compatible ring homomorphisms. We show that $DId:\;SdRng_c{\rightarrow}CohFrm$ is a functor (CohFrm is the category of coherent frames with coherent maps), and we construct a natural transformation $RId{\rightarrow}DId$, in a most natural way, where RId is the functor that sends a ring to its frame of radical ideals. We prove that a ring A is a Baer ring if and only if it belongs to the category $SdRng_c$ and DId(A) is isomorphic to the frame of ideals of the Boolean algebra of idempotents of A. We end by showing that the category $SdRng_c$ has finite products.

      • “The Spirit of the Lord is Upon Me” (Luke 4:18): The Place of the Holy Spirit in Spiritual Care

( Sikhumbuzo Dube ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2019 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.20 No.-

Spiritual caregiving may be seen as a technique-based ministry. Empathic listening, effective use of silence, and other therapeutic interventions are invaluable for its provision. It is probable that caregivers may not see it as a function of the Holy Spirit. The study explored what Jesus’ care plan in Luke 4:18 and 19 entailed, its announcement on a Sabbath and the subsequent healings on the same hallowed day, the significance of being anointed and the role that the Holy Spirit played in Jesus’ ministry to broken humanity. The Johannine depiction of the Holy Spirit as the paraclete not only further illuminated the function of the Holy Spirit but described spiritual care roles. Paul’s explanation of the intercessory role of the Holy Spirit aids in providing a basis for this ministry. This article discusses the spiritual caregiving ministry in the post-modern era using Jesus and the Holy Spirit as the models. The function and role of the Holy Spirit in its provision in the work of Jesus and the significance of ἄλλον παράκλητον in the offices of a chaplain, a pastor and other caregivers form an important component.

Rings in which sums of $d$-Ideals are $d$-ideals

        Themba Dube 대한수학회 2019 대한수학회지 Vol.56 No.2

An ideal of a commutative ring is called a $d$-ideal if it contains the annihilator of the annihilator of each of its elements. Denote by DId$(A)$ the lattice of $d$-ideals of a ring $A$. We prove that, as in the case of $f$-rings, DId$(A)$ is an algebraic frame. • The LOVE Spiritual Care Model: A Chaplain’s Tool in Clinical Practice

( Sikhumbuzo Dube ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2020 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.21 No.-

Providing spiritual care in a clinical setting may require a scientific approach for it to be relevant both to the care seekers and the healthcare team. The methodology that the clergy serving in such a situation utilise should enable other members of the team to realise the importance of chaplaincy. This article’s principal focus is to introduce the LOVE spiritual care model and show its use as a tool or a working template for healthcare clerics in delivering spiritual care. Furthermore, it emphasises how the application of the model can present the chaplains’ professional etiquette in a good light. While the call to chaplaincy is spiritual, the intent to show that as being spirit-led does not mean neglecting the essentials that make up being an expert in providing the needed nourishment. A few biblical examples from the Gospels are used to illustrate the methodology Jesus used in His healing ministry. A psycho-socio-spiritual wellness triadic support system is developed to demonstrate the collaborative effort needed in the provision of total healing. By following the sequence that the model suggests, chaplains are thus equipped with skills that will not only help them to “link-up” with their care seekers but also empower them to walk out of their pain without having to depend on caregivers. A pseudo clinical vignette is used to illustrate this.

        Sigma-compactness via Nearness

Themba Dube KYUNGPOOK UNIVERSITY 1999 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.39 No.1

Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a regular nearness space X to carry a nearness structure induced by a locally compact, σ-compact Hausdorff extension TX → Y . The notion of σ-compactness is defined for nearness spaces and nearness frames, and it is shown that a regular nearness space is σ-compact iff its completion is σ-compact.

      • “Give Me Children or Else I Die” (Gen 30:1): A Biblical Exploration of Culturally Induced Lost Womanhood in Involuntarily Childless Women

( Sikhumbuzo Dube ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2020 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.22 No.-

In pronatalist societies, involuntary childlessness is a culturally deplorable thing. Married women feel incomplete when they do not have a child. There is a sense of lost womanhood as they compare themselves with others in the society. In this paper, the experiences of biblical characters are discussed. Rachel’s reproachful protest “Give me children or else I die” (Gen 30:1) is examined against the backdrop of the Hebraic cultural impact on the womanhood of childless women. The stories of Sarah, Hannah, and Elizabeth are also briefly studied to amplify the Jewish worldview in their time. The contribution of the patriarchal status in infertility on the intensity of the loss is explored. The article seeks to clarify through biblical lenses how culture impacts the perception of the status of womanhood when someone is battling with childlessness.

Import Demand Functions : Evidence from CIBS

YAN ZHOU;SMILE DUBE 경제연구소 2011 Journal of Economic Development Vol.36 No.4

This paper adopts the bounds testing approach to test for the validity of the cointegration or stationarity restriction embodied in five import demand model specifications for CIBS during the period 1970-2007. It identifies long-run relationships in a subset of the five models for each CIBS countries. We find that long-run income elasticities are much higher compared to earlier studies and are higher than the short-run counterparts for CIBS. In addition, contrary to the traditional wisdom, price elasticities are not significantly negative for these countries.

Deciphering Key Genes of Proliferative and Secretory Phase Using Integrated Transcriptomics and Network Analysis

        Gupta Payal,Dube Shriya,Priyadarshini Payal,Singh Shanvi,R Anasuya Pravallika,Srivastava Vijay Lakshmi,Sengupta Abhishek,Narad Priyanka 한국미생물·생명공학회 2023 한국미생물·생명공학회지 Vol.51 No.3

Endometrium receptivity is a complex mechanism of intricate pathways that lead to the shift from the proliferative to the secretory phase. Our goal was to identify high-ranking differentially expressed genes and study the pathways associated with the phenomenon. Raw data were retrieved from six GEO datasets and 705 DEGs were identified through robust ranking aggregation after the integration of five datasets. 20 key genes were identified that were further re-validated in an additional dataset. Supporting evidence through the experimental references confirms them as major biomarkers of the shift from the proliferative to the secretory phase.
