This study on the correlation between academic achievement and admission process was performed on a group of students who are majoring clinical pathology at Daegu Health College, Academic achievement of a group of students was evaluated on the basis of their average GPA of whole semesters enrolled at the college, In terms of admission type, Bachelor (Dae-Jol) group showed the best GPA among all groups, followed by General (Il-Ban), Rural(Nong-Oe-Chon) and Special (Teuk-Byul) group in a row. From the view point of admission time, Regular Admission (Joeng-Si) group showed a little bit higher GPA than Early Admission (Soo-Shi) group. When classified by the graduated-high schools, the GPA of the students who are from General high school (In-Moon-Kye) was higher than that of those who graduated Technical high school (Shil-Up-Kye). By the gender, female students exceeded male students in GPA in the first (freshman) and the second (junior) year of the college. However, in the third (senior) year, male students exceeded female students. In a conclusion, in order to select the applicants with better academic capability it may be needed to put more importance on General (Il-Ban) admission by type and Regular Admission (Joeng-Si) by time during the new students admission assessment. In addition it is also recommended to give some preferential treatment to the applicants from General high school (In-Moon-Kye).

A clinical analysis was done for the 110 pediatric patients with positive urine culture during Jun. 1992 to Dec. 1995 retrospectively. The patients who were hospitalized were classified group Ⅰ, under 29 days of age, and group Ⅱ, number of 29 days of age to 15 years old, respectively. The diagnostic criteria of urinary tract infection were first, the numbers of colonies of single organism isolated from clean urine collected by catheter was over 100,000/㎖. second, the numbers of colonies of single organism isolated from by supurapubic aspiration was over 1,000/㎖. third, two or more cultures yielding more than 100,000 colonies of a single identical organism from obtained by urine bag after aseptic preparation of genitalia. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The mean age of group Ⅰ was 9 days and 2.7 years in group Ⅱ. 2. Male to female ratio of group Ⅰ was 2.4 : 1 and 1.7 :1 in group Ⅱ. 3. The most common symptom was fever in both group Ⅰ(37%) and group Ⅱ(62%). 4. The pyuria(>5WBC/hpf) was detected in 21 cases(51%) of group Ⅰ and 32 cases(46%) of group Ⅱ. 5. The bacteriuria was detected in 22 cases(55%) of group Ⅰ and 25 cases(36%) in group Ⅱ. 6. The most commonly cultured bacterial species were E. coli in both group. 7. The most sensitive antibiotics for cultured E.coli was amikin.
CAD를 이용한 건축구조해석용 Pre/Post-processor 구축

The use of Pre-processor for building structural analysis used to rely upon filling up fixed format data, which was ineffective and error-prone. This research attempts to integrate structural analysis system with DBMS and CAD system in order to make it easy to exchange data between pre-process, analysis, and post-process stages. Automatic generation of database from pre- process stage allows easy preparation of main input data for other structural analysis programs. CAD system with some sub-programs written in LISP and C works as a graphic user interface. This approach gives an easy, effective and error-free way of inputing data for structural analysis.

This paper presents an integrated machining error compensation without measuring cutting force in micro end-mill. To compensate machining error, we consider new tool path. In order to determine the compensated tool path, two machining error parameters are defined and modeled using the SEM images. Experiments are carried out to validate the approaches proposed in this paper. In result, we identify the proposed methods are effective to compensate for machining errors.

The existing daylight analysis systems using computers are system independent, which means each system constructs own data for the daylight analysis in a separate way, and the data and information exchange between systems is not possible. If a single case of daylight analysis is compared, analyzed and evaluated in different systems, each system will repeat unnecessary process of producing, constructing and analyzing the same data. This causes a waste of resources and expenses in these works, and interferes with accurate, clear comparison and evaluation of the results owing to the possible errors and mistakes in the process of producing and constructing the data needed in each systems. Accordingly, this study aimed 1) to develop "Common Data Model & Analysis Module" for Daylight Analysis in order to share, exchange, analyze data between various systems that are operated independently, Also 2) aimed to consider the future extensibility of those applications on the web. And 3) aimed to propose this "Common Data Model & Analysis Module" as a prototype & protocol standard for daylight analysis system.

To study the relations of underground/surface-water exhaustion and excessive pumping, we have analyzed river, geological characteristics, recharge rate of rainfall and underground-water level. The ground water recharge rate from the SCS-CN analysis is 8.4%, and the recharge is computed in 6.4111 x 10^(5)㎥/y. This results mean that a big drawdown in observation holes may be occurred by excessive pumping. From in-situ hydraulic conductivity test, hydraulic conductivity in basement of the study area is calculated in 7.996 x 10^(-6)-2.067 x 10^(-6)m/sec. The underground/surface-water in the study area with small underground-water recharge rate will be exhausted by long time pumping.

This study is to investigate the characteristics of products on mixing ratio of raw materials for scoria tile manufacturing. The water absoprtion of scoria tile decreased as scoria particle size decreased and a ratio of scoria/sand increased. And also the water absoprtion of tile decreased as an amount of cement decreased. Smaller scoria particle size, smaller ratio of scoria and sand, and larger amount of cement enhanced strength and thermal conductivity of scoria tile. The surface pattern of scoria tile became various figures as a ratio of scoria and sand increased. Well mixing of large and small particles made surface pattern of tile diverse.

Purpose: Healing of colorectal anastomosis is burdened with a number of risk factors and the development of leak carries with it higher morbidity and mortality associated not only with worse quality of life but also worse oncological outcomes. The purpose of the study was an evaluation of the effect of reinforcement suture in the healing of stapler rectal anastomosis and risk factors for anastomotic leakage in mid, upper rectal and sigmoid tumors. Methods: A total of 357 patients who underwent curative resection for rectal or sigmoid tumor over 5 years were analyzed. Risk factors, baseline demographic and clinical data, and presence of leak were recorded. All statistical analyses were carried out at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: One hundred fifty-one patients met the inclusion criteria for the study. The overall incidence of leak was 2.8% in the group with reinforcement suture and 6.3% in the group without reinforcement suture. Because of the low incidence of leak the results were not statistically significant. Further results also show that none of the monitored parameters (age, weight, body mass index, tumor distance, preoperative radiotherapy, tumor stage, type of surgery) were significant predictors of anastomotic leakage. Conclusion: Although the reinforcement suture is a safe and simple option for anastomosis protection after rectal or sigmoid resections, its statistical significance was not demonstrated in our study.
