This paper presents the result of a study on the fluid-structure-soil interaction(FSSI) of a port structure under earthquakes. In this analysis, the fluid is modeled by the 4-node element which is a modification of a structural plane elements, and the port structure and foundation is modelled by the plane strain elements. Since the present method directly models the fluid-structure-soil interaction system by finite elements, if can be easily applied to the dynamic analysis of a 2-D port structure with complex geometry. Finally, results of seismic analyses are presented and compared to those of the seismic coefficient and the added mass methods.

Moyamoya disease is an occlusive intracranial arteriopathy with an abnormal cerebral vascular collateral networks. Although this disease is known to be associated with stenosis of extracranial arteries, such as the renal artery, a case associated with stenosis of the coronary artery is extremely rare. We report a case of coronary artery occlusive disease affected by Moyamoya disease. The patient was a 38-year-old female experiencing intermittent headache and exer tional chest pain. Cerebral MRI showed complete obstruction of both internal carotid arteries and abnormal cerebrovascular systems which confirmed Moyamoya disease. Coronary angiography showed a significant stenosis of left anterior descending coronary artery ostium with TIMI grade I collateral blood flow from the normal right coronary artery. After coronary artery stenting and medical treatment for headache, her subjective symptoms were relieved. In Moyamoya patient, an evaluation of the extracranial (especially coronary artery) vascular system should be considered if there are some evidences of coronary artery disease.

The purpose of this study was to examine the realities and problems in the current self-pay autonomous research study of kindergarten, elementary, and secondary school teachers, and to seek ways to activate their self-training. This study was done by conducting a survey among course students in graduate school of education, research study trainee in Danjae, and kindergarten teachers in the Choongchung area. Of the 800 distributed questionnaires 554 of them were returned and analyzed using a statistics software program called SPSS. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the kindergarten, elementary, secondary school teachers found it very necessary to take self-ray autonomous research study, and expected highly positive effects from it. Second, the woman teachers than the man teachers found to take research study highly. Third, the teachers in private school than their in public school found highly to take self-pay autonomous research study. Fourth, the teachers all found to take cost support on the research study Fifth, the teachers found done high cognition help school life at research study. Sixth, the teachers found done cognition highly necessity on program research study Seventh, the teachers found done very prefer to summer vacation of the proper time research study Eighth, the man teachers expected to highly research study on the informatization, but the women was helped better lecture method from it. Ninth, the kindergarten and elementary school found done highly cognition practical guidance research study, and appear to necessity the secondary school self-pay autonomous research study on informatization. Tenth, the low career teachers be helped to learning guidance, and practical guidance research study, and the high career teachers was expected informatization it.

This paper presents a procedure for the quality control of continuous preflex composite girder bridges through camber measurements during construction. The construction stages which require welding, balanced preflexion loads at the ends, etc. may cause unexpected large deformation of preflex girders. Furthermore, these defects can be detected by the measurements and analyses of the girder behavior, which is sometimes time-consuming. In the present study, preflex girder's camber dta at equally spaced nodes in each construction stage are obtained and analyzed for the quality control of thee span continuous preflex girder composite bridge.

Aortography with selective visceral injections has been recognized as highly diagnostic and easy technique for the evaluation of various abdominal mass lesions. At department of Radiology, National Medical Center, Seoul, Korea seventy-two (72) patients whose chief complaints were slowly growing abdominal mass were studied with angiography after conventional examinations (barium study, I. V. P. etc) for last several years(1965-1972). The angiographic patterns were comprehensively analized. Almost cases (about 64 cases) were retroperitoneal expanding lesions which were not well detected with conventional radiological study (barium study, I. V. P. etc). The all expanding lesions were composed of renal expanding lesions(42 cases), other retroperitoneal expanding lesions (17cases), and liver, spleen, pancreatic lesions (13 cases). The angiography with selective visceral injections was the most diagnostic and easy technique without any permament complication than any other conventional studies.

In performing a risk analysis of structures under earthquakes, it is imperative to identify the vulnerability of structures associated with various damage stages. In this paper. the risk analysis of seismic isolated LRB(lead rubber bearing) bridges considering earthquake effects is performed to assure the earthquake resisting capability of the structures. The construction method for fragility curves of seismic isolated bridges is presented and verified. An practical way for constructing the representative fragility curves is also proposed combining fragility curves of structures.

Afferent loop syndrome is an uncommon complication of a gastrectomy and Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction. It may cause symtoms at any time from the first postoperative day to many years after the gastrectomy. Afferent loop syndrome is characterized by abdominal pain, vomiting and elevation of serum amylase. Thus, it is difficult to differentiate afferent loop syndrome from other cause of acute pancreatitis. However, the history of gastrectomy can be an important clue for diagnosing afferent loop syndrome. We experienced one case of chronic afferent loop syndrome with acute pancreatitis. After appropriate management, the abdominal pain disappeared and serum amylase level decreased. We report this case with a review of relevant literatures.

In this study, a modified probabilistic neural network approach is proposed. The global probability density function (PDF) of variables is reflected by summing the heterogeneous local PDFs automatically determined in the individual standard deviation of each variable. The proposed modified probabilistic neural network (MPNN) is applied to predict the stability number of armor blocks of breakwaters using the experimental data of van der Meer, and the estimated results of the MPNN are compared with those of conventional probabilistic neural network. The MPNN shows improved results in predicting the stability number of ann or blocks of breakwaters and in providing the promising reliability for stability numbers estimated by using the individual standard deviation in a variable.
