      • Relationship between Meteorological Elements and Yield of Hot Pepper in Yeosu Area of Korea

        This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between yearly variations of meteorological elements and yearly variations of productivity in hot pepper. In addition, correlation coefficients among the yields and yield components were used to find out the relationships between meteorological elements and productivity. Yearly variation of the mean air temperature in May and July showed large with coefficients of variation(C.V.) of 25.0,8.9%, respectively, but the variation of the duration of sunshine in May were relative small. Yield and plant height was greatly with C.V. of 7.14,11.6%, respectively, diameter of fruit showed more or less C.V. of 2.28% and length of fruit showed less variation. Correlation coefficients between maximum temperature in period of cultivation from May and yield are positively significant at the level of 1 %. Correlation Coefficients between precipitation in period of cultivation from May to August and yield are negative significant at the level of 5 and 1 %, respectively. Correlation coefficients amount the plant height, length of fruit, diameter of fruit per plant, and seed yield were positively significant at the level of 1 %, respectively.

        Improvement of interlaminar properties of carbon fiber‑reinforced epoxy composites using aluminum trihydroxide

        This study provides an economical and effective method to improve the interlaminar properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) using aluminum trihydroxide (ATH) microparticles. ATH microparticles are cheap and are expected to show good affinity to epoxies in the matrix and sizing agents of the carbon fibers owing to the presence of three hydroxyl groups. In addition, ATH particles are reported to improve the mechanical properties of polymers when used as the reinforcement. In this study, ATH microparticles of various sizes, 1.5, 10, and 20 μm, were used to improve the interlaminar properties of the CFRPs. ATH particles with a size of 1.5 μm improved the tensile properties of the ATH/epoxy resin and did not significantly alter the curing behavior. The interfacial adhesion between the carbon fiber and the epoxy resin was also improved, and the impregnation of the resin mixture remained similar to that of the neat resin, resulting in no significant void and defect formation. Considering the above results, the resulting 1.5 μm ATH-reinforced CFRP showed improved interlaminar properties compared to CFRP without ATH. However, 10 and 20 μm ATH-reinforced CFRPs showed deteriorated interlaminar properties due to the diminished tensile properties of the resin itself and resin impregnation, which resulted in more voids and defects, despite the interfacial adhesion between the fiber and the matrix resin.

      • Chemical Control of Gray Mold in Scutellaria baicalensis Georg

        This study was conducted to evaluate the control effect of fungicides on control of Gray mold, growth characteristics, and root yield in the cultivation of Scutellaria baicalensis after barley cropping. All fungicides treated had no effect on the growth and flowering rate of Scutellaria baicalensis. All seed disinfectants had no effect on the growth and flowering date of Scutellaria baicalensis Georg. The major seed disinfectants were Benomyl Wp, 20%, Captan Wp, 50%, Hymexazol Ec, 30%, Carboxin D, 37.5%. Dry root yield were increased largely with Benomyl Wp, 20%, seed disinfectant than the other seed disinfectants had no injury with standard dosage. On the other hand, all seed disinfectants had slight injury in the double dosage level for the Scutellaria baicalensis Georg.

      • Yield of Rice Affected by Meteorological Elements in Yeosu Area of Korea

        This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between yearly variations of meteorological elements and yearly variations of productivity in rice. In addition, correlation coefficients among yield and yield components were used to find out the relationships between meteorological elements and productivity. Yearly variation of the mean air temperature in May was large with coefficients of variation(C.V.) of 25.0%, but the variation of the duration of sunshine in May were relative small. No. of panicles per hill and 1,000 grains wt. of brown rice were great with C.V. of 21.1, 19.7%, respectively, brown rice yield show more or less C.V. of 5.5% and milled rice show still less variation. Correlation coefficients between temperatures in period of cultivation from May and yield were positive correlations. Correlation Coefficients between precipitation in period of cultivation from Sep. to Oct. and yield are positive correlations. Correlation coefficients amount the panicle length, no. of panicles, no. of spikelets, ratio of ripened grains, 1,000 grains wt. of brown rice, milled rice yield, brown rice yield and milled rice yield were positively significant at the level of 1 %, respectively.

      • Effect of Fertilizer Levels on Growth Characters, Dry Matter Yield and Nutrient Quality of Forage Rape in Spring Sowing

        To find out the optimum fertilizer level for high yielding variety, Velox, experiment was conducted with 15 compositions of fertilizer levels at the experiment field of forage crop in Sunchon National University from Mar. 2000 to Aug. 2000. The effects of nitrogen fertilizer on plant growth were significant but increasing rate of application in potassium and phosphate fertilizers above 6 kg/a had negligible effects on plant growth. The optimum nitrogen application level of fertilizers turned out to be 16-6-6 kg/l0a of N-P2O5-K5O. Content of crude protein was highest and that of crude fiber such as NDF, ADF, cellulose and lignin were lowest at this rate of fertilizer application.         NGS_SNPAnalyzer: a desktop software supporting genome projects by identifying and visualizing sequence variations from next-generation sequencing data

        Background Sequence variations such as single nucleotide polymorphisms are markers for genetic diseases and breeding. Therefore, identifying sequence variations is one of the main objectives of several genome projects. Although most genomeproject consortiums provide standard operation procedures for sequence variation detection methods, there may be differencesin the results because of human selection or error. Objective To standardize the procedure for sequence variation detection and help researchers who are not formally trainedin bioinformatics, we developed the NGS_SNPAnalyzer, a desktop software and fully automated graphical pipeline. Methods The NGS_SNPAnalyzer is implemented using JavaFX (version 1.8); therefore, it is not limited to any operatingsystem (OS). The tools employed in the NGS_SNPAnalyzer were compiled on Microsoft Windows (version 7, 10) andUbuntu Linux (version 16.04, 17.0.4). Results The NGS_SNPAnalyzer not only includes the functionalities for variant calling and annotation but also providesquality control, mapping, and filtering details to support all procedures from next-generation sequencing (NGS) data to variantvisualization. It can be executed using pre-set pipelines and options and customized via user-specified options. Additionally,the NGS_SNPAnalyzer provides a user-friendly graphical interface and can be installed on any OS that supports JAVA. Conclusions Although there are several pipelines and visualization tools available for NGS data analysis, we developedthe NGS_SNPAnalyzer to provide the user with an easy-to-use interface. The benchmark test results indicate that theNGS_SNPAnayzer achieves better performance than other open source tools.

        A Content Analysis of the Sportmen’s Ethic on Korean Newspapers with respect to Gender , Individual / Team and Professional / Amateur Status from 1920s to 1990s

        본 연구는 우리나라 스포츠맨의 윤리적 경향을 성별, 개인/팀 스포츠별, 아마추어/프로스포츠별로 나누어 한국신문의 스포츠면을 내용분석법으로 알아보는 것이 그 목적이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 1920년대부터 1990년대까지 동아일보, 조선일보, 중앙일보, 한국일보의 스포츠 면을 2월, 8월, 5월, 10월의 첫 주를 대상으로 연구하였다. 연구방법은 내용분석(content analysis)방법으로, 먼저 연구하고자 하는 내용을 범주화(categorization)하여서 Coding System을 이용하여 조사하였다. 그 결과 성별로는 여성 스포츠맨이 남성에 비하여 보다 윤리적인 경향이 강하고 비폭력인 것을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 1980년대와 1990년대에 들어서면서 여성에 대한 성차별적인 경향이 보다 심각하게 나타내고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 한국사회의 특성이 가부장적인 사회환경속에서 남녀 성의 차이가 더욱 뚜렷이 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 두 번째, 개인스포츠와 팀 스포츠의 경우 스포츠의 속성상 팀 스포츠가 폭력적 경향이 많음을 알 수 있었고, 신문의 보도경향에 있어서 팀 스포츠가 비윤리적 경향이 많이 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 아마추어 스포츠와 프로 스포츠의 경우에서는 아마추어가 프로스포츠 보다 팀워크를 강화시키고 있는 것을 보도경향에서 쉽게 감지할 수 있었다. 스포츠미디어는 승리와 패배라는 등식에서 항상 그 보도스타일을 유지하였음을 부인할 수 없다. 스포츠 보도에 있어 항상 승리만이 존재하는 것은 아니다. 그 이면에는 선수 및 팀이 패배하였을 때 이를 극복하여 나갈 수 있는 환경의 조성은 매스미디어의 역할에서 찾아야 할 것이다. The purpose of this study is to examine the development of Korean sportsmen’s ethic on the sport sections of newspapers. For this purpose, sports sections of four (4) Korean daily newspapers were analyzed: The Dong-A, The Choong-Ang, The Chosun and The Hankook, published during the period from 1920s to 1990s. Content analysis and interpretive-comparative approach methods were utilized to investigate the sportsmen’s ethic during the following three (3) eras: 1920-1949, 1950-1979 and 1980-1990 (Adelman, 1981; Berelson, 1952).Findings indicated that sportsmen’s ethic and journalism were identified in terms of variety and specialization from the perspective of economics and politics in each era.. Sportsmen’s ethic was significantly influenced by following categories in order of importance in male vs. female sport : competitive individualism, teamwork and perseverance. Sportsmen’s ethic was significantly influenced by the following categories, by order of importance, in individual vs. team sport : competitive individualism, teamwork and perseverance category.

      • Agronomic Characters and Their Correlation Coefficient on Black Seeded Soybeans Collected in Chonnam Province

        In order to obtain the genetic information on the quantitative characters of black seeded soybeans, which would be needed to improve selection efficiency for breeding high yielding genotype, 45 varieties of black seeded soybeans collected in Chonnam, Korea were grown and variations of several important characters were observed. Heritability of each observed character, phenotypic and genotypic correlations among the characters and contribution of each yield component on grain yield through path coefficient analysis were estimated. Both number of pods per plant and 100-seed weight showed not only high heritability but also highly significant phenotypic and genotypic correlation with seed yield, and hence it was desirable to select plants with more number of pods per plant and higher 100-seed weight than raise seed yield of black seeded soybeans collected in Chonnam. In addition, number of pods per and 100-seed weight were proved to be the most influential variables on the viability of seed yield by path coefficient analysis. Since these showed the high heritability of number of pods per plant, selection of plants with higher 100-seed weight would be more efficient for breeding high yielding genotype.

        김춘수의 명명의식과 언어유희를 통한 무의미시 연구

        The human ‘naming’ consciousness has always existed for ‘calling’, and the semantics of naming is always a discourse based on the consciousness of ‘social man’. Through language, humans recognize and communicate each other’s existence, and move toward meaningful existence. However, because the language constantly slips, the sign and the phrase are not always matched. In this sense, the meaning of human language is shared for the reproduction of meaning. Because language expresses some thoughts, the language used is not always constant. And the reproduction of meaning is made from the change of relations. It has a concept in the language, but there is no concept in the cry of the cub. That is, it is hard to catch the concept about the cry of a baby bird with the human language, although there is a concept in language. However, if it looks at the possibility of a bird’s crying and the human language, it can be described to some extent. In this regard, this study examines the meaningless poems related with the linguistic play pursued by Daeyeo Kim Chun-su through a reflection on the name and its relationship. In other words, any object with a name is only a name revealed through a relationship, so it is possible to have any new name depending on what kind of relationship it has. By giving a name to an object, the general perception of the object can be defined by its given language. However, with the union of new relationships between objects, it can lay the foundations for a new awareness from the perception of the name. Recently, a series of phenomena around us have been adding complexity to the extent that we have not experienced before. This complexity has heterogeneous components, which leads to situations where the understanding of phenomena is limited only by the understanding of the characteristics of individual components. Therefore, unlike the existing approach of grasping the mutual impact of objects from individual components, that is, objects and expanding them all over, this paper provides a new method for understanding the relationships among objects and the impact of phenomena all over. The study proposes a method for approaching problems through relation to object, not object to relation and whole to part, not part to whole through the perspective change.
