        Time-Related Changes in Detrusor Overactivity in Awake Rats with Spinal Cord Injury Observed by Simultaneous Registrations of Intravesical and Intraabdominal Pressures

        <P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>To compare the physical characteristics of detrusor overactivity (DO) induced by intravesical infusion of saline in awake, sham rats and rats with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI), by simultaneous registrations of intravesical and intraabdominal pressures.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Male Sprague-Dawley rats, normal or with a spinal vascular clip at the level of Th9, were investigated cystometrically 1 and 4 weeks after SCI. Intravesical pressure (IVP) and intraabdominal pressure (IAP) were recorded simultaneously to evaluate true DO. During the filling phase, the event of IVP rises, defined as increments that exceeded 2 cmH<SUB>2</SUB>O from baseline, were determined as DO according to the absence of simultaneous changes in IAP.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>All SCI rats exhibited DO during the filling phase, which was not shown in sham rats. The frequency and pressure of DO had a tendency to decrease with time. The DO frequency of SCI rats after 4 weeks (0.9±0.2 min<SUP>-1</SUP>) was decreased compared with that after 1 week (2.1±0.4 min<SUP>-1</SUP>; P<0.05). The DO pressure of SCI rats after 4 weeks (8.4±1.9 cmH<SUB>2</SUB>O) was decreased compared with that after 1 week (11.6±2.9 cmH<SUB>2</SUB>O; P>0.05).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Cystometric studies in awake male SCI rats showed some significant changes in bladder function after SCI. All SCI rats exhibited DO during the filling phase, and showed different physical characteristics of DO over the course of time. The neurological basis of these time-related changes remains poorly understood, but may provide important prognostic information about long-term urological management in SCI patients.</P>

        DO와 ORP를 이용한 축산폐수처리 SBR운전 제어

        A pilot scale SBR (working volume, 20㎥) treating piggery wastewater was operated with real wastewater. The operation mode of intermittent feeding of raw water and sub-cycle with repeating anoxic-aeration conditions were adapted to avoid the high-strength nitrogen inhibition. In sub-cycle, aeration time for nitrification was tried to be controled with ORP and/or DO meter. The characteristics of control was somewhat different between ORP and DO. DO showed potential ability to detect complete ammonia oxidation point by the first order differential values or absolute value. Especially, DO was proved to be useful for high loading rates. ORP indicated the ending point of nitrification by the plateau appearing after bending point. Because ORP can be utilized as a diagnosis tool by its good sensitivity for the microbial condition in reactor, the simultaneous application of DO and ORP was recommended for the stable control of SBR.

      • BGO 단결정의 Scintillation 특성

        In this study, the crystalline and scintillation characteristics of the BGO(Bi4Ge5O12) single crystal are investigated. The BGO single crystal is grown by Czochralski method at the pulling rate of 3---4mnVh, rotation rate of 20rpm and melting temperature of 1044`. It is shown that the crystal has been grown on the (I11) surface by XRD and etch-pit method. The gamma ray energy spectrum is measured by the BGO single ctystal attached to photomultiflier tube. The pulse height from the scintillation detector system using the BGO single crystal is linear to gamma ray energy and the energy resolution is typically 21.2% for Cs-137. The grown BGO single crystal may be useful in gamma ray detection and spectroscopy.

        Background and Objectives : When p53 cancer suppressor gene, occurs gene deletion or point mutation, malignancy develops by loss of p53 function with abnormal p53 protein. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the causative agent of certain type of lymphoma and undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma. However, the role of EBV as a causative factor in other head &eck tumors is not fully elucidated except nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study, the author examined that p53 expression and detection rate of EBV correlate to development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) and play the possible role of prognostic indicators. Materials and Methods : Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimen from 32 cases of larynx and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas were studied by immunohistochemical staining for p53 and EBV. The results of analysis were compared with clinicopathological parameters. Results : p53 expression was 56.3% (18 cases) and the detection rate of EBV was 43.6% (14 cases) of 32 cases in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. p53 expression was correlate with histologic grade (p<05) only. Detection of EBV was not correlate with clinicopathological parmeters. Conclusion : These results suggest p53 expression and the detection of EBV may be related with development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. And, the expression of p53 protein can be used as a prognosticator in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma under certain limitation.

        This study attempts to study anlyge sports leaders, mentality Working for sports Center in seoul, So as to improve the Qctivation of sports for all The Conclusions are as follows : 1.General Characteristics The proportion of sport for all leaders appears that the full-time male leaders who graduate from college account for 29.5%. The volunteering female leaders who are attending college amount to 16%. 2.Ways of thinking the reason for choosing a sports for all direction is that "to fit for their own nature or to become a famous leader" accounts for 82.5%, in the highest proportion. It can be seen that the activity of sport for all direction has a great impact on director's spiritual and physical aspects. 3.Sports for all leader Among Sports for all leaders, those who acquired a certificate of Qualification as a qualified physical director through the national qualification examination for physical director shows a relatively low proprotion of 59%. 4.Activation of sports for all For the continuous activation of sports for all, people's correct correct awareness of sports for all and periodical public information activities through mass media should be developed.

        The photovoltaic(PV) power generation system transforms unlimited and pollution-free solar energy directly into electronic energy by using solar cells of semi-conductor devices. The PV power is globally attractive renewable energy in relation to problem of environmental pollution, and will be an important future energy sources. In this study the solar tracking system have been developed that can trace the direction of sun to keep the PV array perpendicular to the sun lay. The system is able to localize by itself using GPS, and it do not need a brake system. It uses very low power DC motors, so that it does not need external power. Furthermore, it has an ability to judge whether it is possible to generate or not depending on the light intensity. Also it can maintain the PV array horizontally to prevent from demage when the wind is strong.

        역사적선례를 이용한 도심재개발 설계기법 연구 : 미시간 주청사지역 재개발계획

        Since the Michigan Capitol Building was erected in its present location in 1874. Lansing has slowly developed into the heart of all political, economic and cultural activities in Michigan. The City of Lansing is maturing, and this maturity, as the Capital city of Michigan, has brought about significant developments based on the city's central location in the state. Recently-having completed the Capitol Restoration Project in 1992-Lansing was given a further chance to spur their march toward the future by initiating the Capitol Development Plan. This plan includes a Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a Public Park and a Mail Complex, all meant to be symbolically representative of-and to instil a sense of pride to-the people of Michigan. This proposal for the Capitol Area Development is meant to provide new vision to Lansing and to launch a program which will reveal the potential value of Lansing as the state center. One of the goals of this project is to unity the currently fragmented Capital space for the people of Michigan. To accomplish this goal, I have incorporated my understanding of various design languages, particularly classical patterns, as a basis for functional and aesthetic decisions. The whole site design is purposely separated and yet entirely connected by classical structure. This allows flexibility in design treatment throughout the site while providing strength through comprehensive organization. This new development is meant to create a new image of the Capital city and to enhance the way Michigander's think about their state. Much like the various kinds of people that inhabit the state of Michigan, there are disparate forms of designed space throughout the Capitol area. Yet, under the premise of creating a people oriented environment, this new design for the Capitol district could develop into a people-oriented environment promoting the coexistence of people within unified space.
