This work provided a review of three techniques—(1) spectrochemical, (2) electrochemical, and (3) spectroelectrochemical– for molten salt medias. A spectroelectrochemical system was designed by utilizing this information. Here, we designed a spectroelectrochemical cell (SEC) and calibrated temperature controllers, and performed initial tests to explore the system’s capability limit. There were several issues and a redesign of the cell was accomplished. The modification of the design allowed us to assemble, align the system with the light sources, and successfully transferred the setup inside a controlled environment. A preliminary run was executed to obtain transmission and absorption background of NaCl-CaCl2 salt at 600°C. It shows that the quartz cuvette has high transmittance effects across all wavelengths and there were lower transmittance effects at the lower wavelength in the molten salt media. Despite a successful initial run, the quartz vessel was mated to the inner cavity of the SEC body. Moreover, there was shearing in the patch cord which resulted in damage to the fiber optic cable, deterioration of the SEC, corrosion in the connection of the cell body, and fiber optic damage. The next generation of the SEC should attach a high temperature fiber optic patch cords without introducing internal mechanical stress to the patch cord body. In addition, MACOR should be used as the cell body materials to prevent corrosion of the surface and avoid the mating issue and a use of an adapter from a manufacturer that combines the free beam to a fiber optic cable should be incorporated in the future design.
Galton's Fallacy and Economic Convergence: An Alternative Approach to Regional Convergence in Greece
Dimitris Paschaloudis,Stilianos Alexiadis 서울대학교 경제연구소 2006 Seoul journal of economics Vol.19 No.2
Most empirical studies on regional convergence are concentrated on testing the 'conventional' measures of σ and β-convergence. However, these measures are crucially flawed as measures of convergence, especially at the regional level of analysis. As a response to this, Lichtenberg(1994) introduces a measure that overcomes the limitations of the 'conventional' measures of convergence. More specifically, this measure combines the tendencies towards decline inequalities (σ-convergence) with the tendencies of poor regions to grow faster than rich regions do (β-convergence). Having the measure introduced by Lichtenberg(1994) as the main vehicle of analysis this paper offers an alternative view on the issue of regional convergence in Greece. According to empirical results the 51 NUTS-3 regions of Greece follow a pattern characterized by distinct phases of convergence and divergence.
Financial Market Dynamics in an Enlarged European Union
( Dimitris Kenourgios ),( Aristeidis Samitas ),( Nikos Paltalidis ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 2009 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.24 No.2
This paper provides evidence of integration in European equity and bond markets over the period January 2, 1997 to October 1, 2006. Our focus is to examine time-varying correlation dynamics in Euro-area, Central European (CE) and Balkan financial markets, modifying the asymmetric generalized dynamic conditional correlation (AG-DCC) model developed by Cappiello, Engle and Sheppard (Journal of Financial Econometrics, 2006). Using structural breaks, we identify the optimal time decay where financial markets share highest comovement. The results show an increase in the level of dependence during the period of the internet bubble collapse (2000), the Balkan countries start formally discussions to join European Union (2000), the introduction of Euro banknotes and coins (2002) and the entry of CE countries in EU (2004). The CE European and Balkan countries become gradually more integrated with the EMU countries, which is consistent with the interpretation that these countries may be expected to join the Euro in the future.

This study investigates how institutional quality influences labor productivity in West Africa. Thus, a panel of 15 Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) member states over the period 2005-2017 was considered. The panel was analyzed for the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors. For the empirical analysis, a panel fixed effect regression was conducted based on a neoclassical framework. Results show that institutional quality improvement is overall associated with higher levels of productivity, regardless of the sector. Some specificities were also observed at the sectoral levels. Furthermore, the econometric analysis reconfirms a positive effect of investment and human capital on productivity. Therefore, improving institutional quality would be helpful for productivity growth in this sub-region. This event could enable ECOWAS member states to reap greater benefits from the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.
War and Cultural Heritage The Case of Religious Monuments
( Dimitris Mylonopoulos ),( Polyxeni Moira ),( Aik. Kikilia ) 세계문화관광학회 2014 International Journal of Culture and tourism Resea Vol.7 No.1
This paper attempts a recording and study of the international legal framework and jurisprudence related to the legal protection of cultural/religious monuments and investigates, through the study of contemporary cases, the effectiveness of the said legal framework. More specifically, using the archives of national and international organisations and international tribunals, we researched, studied and interpreted the available national and international legal texts and case law pertaining to the protection of religious cultural heritage, as well as the special legal framework regarding protection in times of conflict. This research has concluded that, although there is in place an international legal framework on the protection of cultural environment, and the religious/cultural wealth of peoples in particular, in reality it is difficult to uphold the existing legal rules in times of hostilities. So, any and all intervention on behalf of the international community has an occasional and suppressive -rather than preventiverole.
Congestion Control for MANETs: An overview
Dimitris Kanellopoulos 한국통신학회 2019 ICT Express Vol.5 No.2
In a MANET, there is no need to deploy any infrastructure to make nodes to communicate with each other. MANETs have unique characteristics that complicate congestion control. The standard TCP congestion control mechanism is not able to handle the special properties of a shared wireless multi-hop channel well. The frequent changes of the network topology and the shared nature of the wireless channel pose significant challenges. Therefore, various congestion control approaches for MANETs have been proposed. This paper discusses TCP enhancements for wireless links. It analyzes design challenges for an enhanced transport protocol, and presents congestion control schemes for MANETs.
