Calcinosis cutis is a condition characterized by the deposition of calcium salts in the skin and subcutaneous tissues, and patients suffering from it encounter various connective tissue disorders, such as dermatomyositis (DM),scleroderma, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Although calcinosis cutis is frequently accompanied by juvenile dermatomyositis, rare cases have been reported in adult patients with DM. On the other hand, lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin and mucosal surfaces. In the present report, we present a rare case of a 71-year-old patient with DM accompanied by ulcerated calcinosis cutis and vulvar LS. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S375∼S379, 2011)

Phosphate removal before discharging wastewater into the receiving environment is important since eutrophication has become an environmental problem on a global scale. In this study, phosphate ion removal from aqueous solutions was investigated using a strong anion exchange resin, Purolite A200E. The effects of initial phosphate ion concentration, initial pH value of the solution, resin dosage, stirring speed, presence of some anions in solution, and temperature on the ion exchange process were researched. Resin dosage, stirring speed, and temperature increases were determined to increase the phosphate removal rate. The highest phosphate removal efficiency was observed in the pH interval 7–9. With initial phosphate concentration of 10 and 20 mg/L, 1.50 g/500 mL resin dosage fully removed phosphate at the end of 120 min. However, at phosphate concentrations higher than 20 mg/L, increasing phosphate concentrations caused a reduction in removal efficiency. The competitive anion with the most effect on phosphate removal was sulfate while adding bicarbonate did not affect phosphate removal. Pseudo-first-order (PFO) and pseudo-second-order (PSO) kinetic models were used to assess experimental data. Kinetic studies revealed that the ion exchange process can be explained better by the PFO kinetic model. Equilibrium isotherm data were analyzed with the Freundlich and Langmuir equations, and the Freundlich isotherm model fitted the equilibrium data better.
Economic Relations of Bangladesh with Major International Players and Its Implication to APEC
Gyoung-Gyu Choi,Hongsheng Zhang,Md,Kamruzzaman Didar 한국APEC학회 2019 Journal of APEC Studies Vol.11 No.1
We analyze the relationship between Bangladesh and various international organizations. We explore the development of trade policy framework and relations with other countries in Bangladesh under the WTO regime. We also analyze Bangladesh s economic relations with major SAARC, APTA, EU and APEC economies and assess the strengths and weaknesses of Bangladesh in these relationships. In the current era of globalization, the world economy is interdependent. Bangladesh has maintained cooperative economic relationships with various international organizations, and its economy has grown at 6 percent annually for more than two decades. Despite significant development achievements, poverty remains a challenge as do infrastructure shortcomings, weak governance structures, extremist violence, and the need for greater investment in human capital. Bangladesh’s high population density compounds these challenges. In this backdrop, the Bangladesh government has signed bilateral and multilateral treaties to facilitate international trade with many countries and international organizations. Bangladesh s experience shows that international trade, investment, and foreign market access provided through the temporary movement of workers and professionals has a positive effect on improving foreign exchange availability, current account, income levels, economic growth, job creation, and reducing poverty. This will help Bangladesh develop a strong collaborative environment in the international community.
