        Auto-Generation of IEC Standard PLC Code Using t-MPSG

        The objective of this paper is to reduce the development time of a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) by automating the task of code generation. For this purpose, we applied t-MPSG (Timed-Message Based Part State Graph). The t-MPSG is an extended finite state automata used to model and generate an execution module for a real-time shop floor controller system. In our proposed method, t-MPSG is used to model the formal specification of the controller system that can be translated into textual structure. After the verification of the t-MPSG model, it can be used as an input to the plc-builder tool. The plc-builder tool is an extended version of a conventional MPSG simulator. It can be used to translate the textual structure of the t-MPSG into an IEC standard PLC code. Finally, the generated code can be downloaded to a PLC emulator or a PLC device for the purpose of simulation and execution. The similarity in the hierarchical structure of the t-MPSG and the IEC standard PLC program has made it convenient to transform from one form to another. Furthermore, an illustration of the methodology to auto-generate IEC standard PLC code using t-MPSG is explained with a suitable example.

        Synthesis and Characterization of Intergrowth Type Perovskite Oxide NdSr_2MnCrO_7

        A new Ruddlesden-Popper phase NdSr_2MnCrO_7 has been prepared by the standard ceramic method. The powder X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the phase crystallizes with tetragonal unit cell in the space group I4/mmm. The electrical transport properties show that the phase is an electrical insulator and the electrical conduction in the phase occurs by a 3D variable range hopping mechanism. The magnetic studies suggest that the ferromagnetic interactions are dominant.

        Larval survival of two species of forensically important blowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) after submergence in water

        Survival of larvae of known ages after 2 to 6 h of submersion under water was assessed by observing pupation and adult emergence in the cases of two blowflies of forensic importance, Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius) and Chrysomya rufifacies (Macquart). Lowest survival occurred among 10-h-old larvae, which could not tolerate more than 2 h of submergence. Even with such a small period of submergence success of survival was only 33%. There were no survivors when 20- and 30-h-old larvae were submerged for more than 3 and 4 h, respectively. In the cases of 40-, 50-, 60- and 70-h-old larvae there were no survivors if submergence was more than 5 h. The results show that there is an inverse relationship between submergence period and survival rate: the longer the submergence period, the lesser is the survival rate. This study provides data that are potentially useful in estimating the minimum time since submergence (TSS) of a corpse during forensic investigations.

        Role of α2 Receptors in Quercetin-Induced Behavioral Despair in Mice

        Depression is a well-defined illness that afflicts a large population worldwide. Various biochemical theorieshave been described; however, the pathophysiology of depression is still poorly understood. The present study explores therole of a natural flavonoid, quercetin, in the forced swimming model of depression and its interaction with presynaptic .2adrenoceptors. Quercetin induced a significant behavioral despair, which was abrogated with pretreatment with yohimbine,an .2 adrenoceptor antagonist, and imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant. The results of the study support the contention thatquercetin utilizes presynaptic .2 adrenoceptors in eliciting its depressant activity in mice.

        Contact Toxicity of Some Insecticides to Honeybee Apis mellifera (L.) and Apis cerana (F.)

        Contact toxicities of five insecticides viz. malathion, demeton-s-methyl, cypermethrin, deltamethrin and fenvalerate applied to foragers of honeybee Apis mellifera (L.) and Apis cerana (F.) were established. Each insecticide was evaluated at three levels of concentrations for contact toxicity under laboratory conditions. The mortality of honeybees increased with increase in concentration and exposure time. No quick knockdown effect was observed in all insecticides tested. The order of toxicity of different insecticides after 8h of treatment was in the order: malathion > cypermethrin > demeton-s- methyl > fenvalerate > deltamethrin for A. mellifera and malathion> demeton-s-methyl> cypermethrin > fenvalerate > deltamethrin for A. cerana. All the insecticides were highly toxic to honeybees.

        Self-image as a Component of ‘Theory of Planned Behavior’ for Prediction of Indian Mall Patronage Intention

        Purpose - This study aims to examine the Indian consumers’mall shopping patronage with the application of theory of planned behavior (TPB). The research intends to extend the TPB components (attitude, self-efficacy, subjective norms) with the addition of self-image and study their effect on Indian consumers’ mall patronage intention. Research design, data and methodology - The research employed factor analysis to verify correct loading of items on corresponding factors and to confirm the applicability of constructs in the Indian context. The model was tested using stepwise regression analysis. Results –The results indicate a positive relationship between self-efficacy and intention to mall patronage. The findings show that self-image, attitude, self-efficacy, subjective norm significantly influence the mall patronage intention. Self-efficacy, which signifies self-competence and confidence in one’s ability as a mall shopper indicates that as the self-efficacy increases Indian consumers’ will eventually patronize malls. Conclusions – Self-image congruency plays a salient role in predicting mall-shopping patronage. The mall management should ensure that the mall marketing strategies incorporate it along with the other components of TPB to warrant decent footfall.

        Effect of type and percentage of reinforcement for optimization of the cutting force in turning of Aluminium matrix nanocomposites using response surface methodologies

        Aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) now hold a significant share of raw materials in many applications. It is of prime importance to study the machinability of such composites so as to enhance their applicability. Sufficient work has been done for studying the machining of AMCs with particle reinforcements of micron range. This paper presents the study of AMCs with particle reinforcement of under micron range i.e. nanoparticles. This paper brings out the results of an experimental investigation of type and weight percent of nanoparticles on the tangential cutting force during turning operation. SiC, Gr and SiC-Gr (in equal proportions) were used with Al-6061 alloy as the matrix phase. The results indicate that composites with SiC require greater cutting force followed by hybrid and then Gr. Increase in the weight percent also significantly affected the magnitude of cutting force. RSM was used first to design and analyze the experiments and then to optimize the turning process and obtain optimal conditions of weight and type of reinforcements for turning operation.

        Effect of Partial Substitution of Magnetic Rare Earths for La on the Structure, Electric Transport And Magnetic Properties of Oxygen Deficient Phase LaSr2MnCrO7-δ

        Intergrowth perovskite type complex oxides La0.8Ln0.2Sr2MnCrO7-δ (Ln=La, Nd, Gd, and Dy) have been synthesized by sol-gel method. Rietveld profile analysis shows that the phases crystallize with tetragonal unit cell in the space group I4/mmm. The unit cell parameters a and c decrease with decreasing effective ionic radius of the lanthanide ion. The magnetic studies suggest that the ferromagnetic interactions are dominant due to Mn3+–O–Mn4+ and Mn3+–O–Cr3+ double exchange interactions. Both Weiss constant (θ) and Curie temperature (TC) increase with decreasing ionic radius of lanthanide ion. It was found that the transport mechanism is dominated by Mott’s variable range hopping (VRH) model with an increase of Mott localization energy.

        Effect of Consumer Innovativeness on Online Buying Behavior in an Emerging Market

        Purpose – India is predicted to lead the world in online sales, but the behavioral range of online consumer has not been researched adequately. Moreover, the research on the role of psychological variables like consumer innovativeness in online purchase behavior has not been investigated. This paper aims to unravel the role of ‘consumer innovativeness’ in predicting online purchase intention. Further, this paper examines the effect of consumer innovativeness on ‘online information search’ and ‘attitude’ in online purchase areas. Research design, data, and methodology – This study uses factor analysis to confirm the convergent and discriminant validities from the adopted scales. Regression analysis was employed to test the various hypotheses in this study. Results – This study finds that consumer innovativeness affects positively ‘information search’, ‘attitude’ and ‘purchase intentions’ in online purchase circumstances. Conclusions – Consumer Innovativeness has emerged as a significant factor affecting online purchase intentions. It has also been confronted with an important variable affecting online information search and attitudes for online purchase.
