      • Hazardous propagation of noise in a surface mine industry: An Occupational Health study

        ( Dayal Dev S ),( Vignesh K. S ),( Radha Krishnan R ) 한국감성과학회 2023 한국감성과학회 국제학술대회(ICES) Vol.2023 No.-

Noise risk assessment is an essential component of occupational hazard management in workplace safety, whether it is underground or open pit mining, workers are exposed to loud noise during work such as heavy machine drilling, blasting, trucks are some loud noise emitters. Globally, occupational noise is responsible for approximately 16% of the disabling hearing loss in adults, equivalent to over 4 million Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), in India prevalence rate of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is 12.8% among mine employees in various environments. Main parameter was to measure the exposure level of noise using dosimeter in various operating conditions. Findings of our study states the noise exposed around various working environments 86.6 dB(A) near rock breaker and 92.9 dB(A) near Xcentric ripper which is higher than the Recommended Exposure Limit (REL) recommended by National Institute of Occupational Study and Health (NIOSH) and Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS). Employees exposed to noise more than PEL for a prolonged period of time have higher risk of Tinnitus, NIHL and other hearing ailments. Usage of hearing protectors for employees should be made compulsory and breaks between working hours need to be improvised by the employers according to the standards prescribed.

Effect of Alpha-lactalbumin Gene Polymorphism on Milk Production Traits in Water Buffalo

        Dayal, S.,Bhattacharya, T.K.,Vohra, V.,Kumar, P.,Sharma, Arjava Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2006 Animal Bioscience Vol.19 No.3

A genetic study was conducted to elucidate the effect of alpha-Lactalbumin (${\alpha}$-LA) gene polymorphism on milk production traits involving total milk yield and daily milk yield during first lactation in two breeds of water buffaloes namely, Murrah and Bhadawari. Single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) was carried out to explore genetic polymorphism present at this locus. For this study, exon 1 region of ${\alpha}$-LA was analyzed. Finally, polymorphism data was associated with milk production traits by employing least square analysis. In Murrah buffalo, five genotypes such as AB, BB, BC, CC and CD and four alleles A, B, C and D were detected whereas in Bhadawari buffalo two genotypes namely, AB and BC and three alleles namely, A, B and C were found. Genotypes showed significant effects ($p{\leq}0.05$) on total milk yield and daily milk yield in Bhadawari buffalo but had non-significant effects on these traits in Murrah buffalo.

Critical behavior studies in Ti-substituted lanthanum bismuth perovskite manganites

        Vijaylakshmi Dayal,V. Punith Kumar,R.L. Hadimani,D.C. Jiles 한국물리학회 2015 Current Applied Physics Vol.15 No.10

Perovskite manganite La0.4Bi0.6Mn1-xTixO3 (x = 0.05 and 0.1) synthesized using conventional solid state route method give rise to critical phenomenon in their magnetic interactions due to the substitution of non magnetic Ti ions. The critical behavior is observed near paramagneticeferromagnetic transition and is studied by magnetization measurements. Various techniques like Modified Arrott plot, KouveleFisher method, scaling equation of state analysis and the critical magnetization isotherm were used to analyze the magnetization data on magnetic phase transition. The values of critical exponents β and γ obtained using different techniques are in good agreement. The obtained critical exponents are found to follow scaling equation with the magnetization data scaled into two different curves below and above the transition temperature, TC. This confirms that the critical exponents and TC are reasonably accurate. The obtained critical exponents for both the samples deviates from mean-field model and do not completely follow the static long range ferromagnetic ordering. This behavior is consistent with non magnetic nature of Ti substituted at Mn site and can be associated with Griffiths phase like phenomenon.

Structural and Nano-Mechanical Properties of Nanostructured Diamond-Like Carbon Thin Films

        Saurabh Dayal,Sushil Kumar,Neeraj Dwivedi,Sreekumar Chockalingam,C. M. S. Rauthan,O.S. Panwar 대한금속·재료학회 2013 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.19 No.3

The effect of self bias on structural and nano-mechanical properties of nanostructured diamond-like carbon (ns-DLC) thin films is explored. These films are grown at different negative self biases ranging from −100 V to −200 V using radio frequency (13.56 MHz) plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. The generation of nanostructured morphology at room temperature in these films is confirmed by scanning electron microscopy, whereas change in microstructure produced by varying the self biases is confirmed by Raman analysis. These ns-DLC films exhibit very high hardness, which varied from 16 GPa to 31 GPa. With the help of load versus displacement curves, various other important nano-mechanical parameters such as elastic modulus, elastic recovery etc are also estimated. The nano-mechanical properties are further correlated with the Raman and SEM analyses. Owing to their versatile nano-mechanical properties, these ns-DLC films may find application as hard and protective coatings.

      • Analysis of Performance Parameters of Microstrip Low Pass Filter with Open Stub at 1.08 GHz Using Ann

Vishakha Dayal Shrivastava,Vandana Vikas Thakare 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.11

In the present paper analysis of performance parameters i.e., insertion loss and return loss of microstrip Low Pass Filter with open stub using Artificial Neural Networks has been presented. The Artificial neural network is used in predicting the performance parameters of the low pass filter with open stub as a function of its stub length. Levenberg –Marquardt training algorithms of FFBP-ANN. (feed forward back propagation Artificial Neural Network), Layer Recurrent-ANN and CFBP-ANN (cascaded forward back propagation Artificial Neural Network) has been used to implement the neural network models. Simulated values for training and testing the neural network are obtained by analysing the LPF structure by the use of CST Microwave Studio Software. Comparison of mean square error obtained from different ANN networks concluded that CFBP-ANN gives satisfactory result as compare to FFBP-ANN and Layer Recurrent ANN. The testing of output of neural model is found good agreement with simulated output.

A rare association of central hypothyroidism and adrenal insufficiency in a boy with Williams-Beuren syndrome

        Devi Dayal,Dinesh Giri,Senthil Senniappan 대한소아내분비학회 2017 Annals of Pediatirc Endocrinology & Metabolism Vol.22 No.1

Primary hypothyroidism related to morphological and volumetric abnormalities of the thyroid gland is one of the commonest of several endocrine dysfunctions in Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS). We report a 10-month-old boy with WBS who presented with central hypothyroidism. During the neonatal period, he had prolonged jaundice, feeding difficulties and episodes of colic that continued during early infancy. Additionally, there was slowing of growth and mild developmental delay. He underwent surgical repair for supravalvular aortic stenosis at 6 months of age. An evaluation done to exclude cortisol deficiency before initiating levothyroxine lead to the detection of secondary adrenal insufficiency, unreported previously in WBS. In addition, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and IGF-binding protein-3 levels were low. This report of hypopituitarism in WBS indicates a need for complete evaluation of pituitary dysfunction in children with WBS.

Anusar Gupta(Anusar Gupta ),Niraj Mishra(Niraj Mishra ),Pooran Chand(Pooran Chand ),Saumyendra Vikram Singh(Saumyendra Vikram Singh ),Raghuwar Dayal Singh(Raghuwar Dayal Singh ),Bhaskar Agarwal(Bhaska 대한치과이식임플란트학회 2022 The Korean Academy of Implant Dentistry Vol.41 No.3

Purpose: This in vivo study compared the clinical and radiographic outcomes of the mini-implant-supported overdenture and conventional implant-supported overdenture. The objectives of the study were to evaluate the pocket depth, crestal bone loss, and implant stability using a periotest and to measure patient satisfaction based on the oral health impact profile EDENT questionnaire in conventional and mini-implants supported overdentures. Materials and Methods: One hundred and seventy-four subjects above 40 years of age were recruited and randomized into two groups on a 1:1 basis: Group 1- mini-implant supported overdentures (2.5 mm diameter×11 mm length) and Group 2-conventional implant- supported overdentures (3.3 mm diameter×11 mm length). Crestal bone loss was measured from the baseline to 12 months and from 12 to 36 months. The pocket depth and implant stability using a Perio test device were measured at 12 months and 36 months. Finally, the patient satisfaction based on the oral health impact profile EDENT questionnaire in conventional and mini-implants supported overdentures was recorded. Results: There was no significant difference (P>0.05) in the pocket depth and crestal bone loss between the groups at 12 months and 36 months. Similarly, there was no significant difference in the perio-test values between the groups at 12 and 36 months. No significant (P>0.05) differences in physical pain, psychological discomfort, and disability were noted. Conclusions: Both conventional and mini-implant-supported overdentures have similar outcomes with respect to the pocket depth, crestal bone loss, implant stability, and overall quality of life of the patient.

Design and development of fixture and force measuring system for friction stir welding process using strain gauges

Biswajit Parida,Shiv Dayal Vishwakarma,Sukhomay Pal 대한기계학회 2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.2

We developed a clamping system and an instrumented setup for a vertical milling machine for friction stir welding (FSW) operationsand measuring the process forces. Taking into account the gap formation (i.e., lateral movement) and transverse movement of the workpiece,a new type of adjustable fixture was designed to hold the workpiece being welded. For force measurement, a strain gauge basedforce dynamometer was designed, developed and fabricated. The strain gauges were fitted into the specially designed octagonal membersto support the welding plates. When the welding force was applied onto the plates, the load was transferred to the octagonal members andstrain was induced in the member. The strains of the strain gauges were measured in terms of voltages using a Wheatstone bridge. Toacquire forces in FSW operations, a data acquisition system with the necessary hardware and software was devised and connected to thedeveloped setup. The developed setup was tested in actual welding operations. It is found that the proposed setup can be used in millingmachine to perform FSW operations.

Comparative study on cracked beam with different types of cracks carrying moving mass

        Shakti P. Jena,Dayal R. Parhi,Devasis Mishra 국제구조공학회 2015 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.56 No.5

An analytical-computational method along with finite element analysis (FEA) has been employed to analyse the dynamic behaviour of deteriorated structures excited by time- varying mass. The present analysis is focused on the comparative study of a double cracked beam with inclined edge cracks and transverse open cracks subjected to traversing mass. The assumed computational method applied is the fourth order Runge-Kutta method. The analysis of the structure has been carried out at constant transit mass and speed. The response of the structure is determined at different crack depth and crack inclination angles. The influence of the parameters like crack depth and crack inclination angles are investigated on the dynamic behaviour of the structure. The results obtained from the assumed computational method are compared with those of the FEA for validation and found good agreements with FEA.
