Novel green electrodes were fabricated through the combination of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and copper precursors. Electrodes were produced by a hybrid manufacturing process that included vacuum filtration, intensive pulsed light (IPL) sintering, mechanical hot pressing and heat treatment to reduce the number of junctions and flatten the components into a parallel arrangement. Copper provides excellent electrical conductivity and cost efficiency, but it can be easily oxidized. CNC is a renewable material that acts as a strong binder, allowing the compaction of the electrodes and providing a surface for copper ions to be adsorbed. GNP prevents copper oxidation and acts as conductive bridges. This combination of processes and materials yielded decreases in electrical resistance, even after 5 days of heat treatment at 175 °C that would typically cause oxidation. At this temperature, carbonization of CNC began to occur. After applying a two percent strain to the electrodes, high CNC concentration electrodes maintained a similar electrical performance, whereas low CNC concentration electrodes exhibited a significant reduction in electrical conductivity. The ability to withstand elevated temperatures for long durations and external strains make the nanocomposite electrodes attractive for various applications such as electrodes, electrical devices and sensors
An Analysis on Seychelles Sustainable Development Strategy
Danny Laura 아시아사회과학학회 2021 Jornal of Asia Social Science Vol.2 No.1
Seychelles, being a Small Island Developing State, has played a leadership and active role in this process. It was one of the initial signatories to the three Rio global environmental conventions and has been instrumental in driving sustainable development at the national and international level. Seychelles embarked on its first environment management plan in 1989, with the support of UNDP, UNEP and the World Bank. The Environment Management Plan of Seychelles (EMPS) 1990-2000, raised pledges of over 40 million USD, and after a decade of implementation was a successful programme. Vision 2033 provides the high-level direction for the future of the Seychellois people. The theme adopted for Vision 2033 is ‘Towards a sustainable and inclusive future’ and this will be rolled out through the implementation of a series of three five-year National Development Strategies (NDS), beginning with the first NDS for 2019-2023.
Family vs. Non-family Firm Behavior and Performance: A Study of Korean High-Technology Industries
Danny Miller,Jangwoo Lee,Sooduck Chang,Isabelle Le Breton-Miller 한국인사ㆍ조직학회 2006 한국인사ㆍ조직학회 발표논문집 Vol.- No.-
Family businesses (FBs) are said to treat their employees with unusual consideration to form a cohesive internal “community”. They are also said to form more extensive “connections” or relationships with outside stakeholders. Both behaviors may increase the viability of a business intended to support an owning family and its later generations, and relate to the age-old notion of gemeinschaft. This study of Korean high technology businesses suggests that: 1) relationships of community and connection will be more common in FBs than in non-FBs, 2) these relationships will enhance performance, and 3) the performance of FBs will benefit more from these relationships than the performance of non-FBs.
Hepatitis B Screening and Vaccination Practices in Asian American Primary Care
( Danny Chu ),( Ju Dong Yang ),( Anna S Lok ),( Tram Tran ),( Eduardo Bruno Martins ),( Elizabeth Fagan ),( Franck Rousseau ),( W Ray Kim ) 대한소화기학회 2013 Gut and Liver Vol.7 No.4
Background/Aims: Screening for hepatitis B virus (HBV) is recommended in populations with anticipated prevalence ≥2%. This study surveyed HBV screening and vaccination practices of Asian American primary care providers (PCPs). Methods: Approximately 15,000 PCPs with Asian surnames in the New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago areas were invited to participate in a web-based survey. Asian American PCPs with ≥25% Asian patients in their practice were eligible. Results: Of 430 (2.9%) survey respondents, 217 completed the survey. Greater than 50% followed ≥200 Asian patients. Although 95% of PCPs claimed to have screened patients for HBV, 41% estimated that ≤25% of their adult Asian patients had ever been screened, and 50% did not routinely screen all Asian patients. In a multivariable analysis, the proportion of Asian patients in the practice, provider geographic origin and the number of liver cancers diagnosed in the preceding 12 months were significantly associated with a higher likelihood of screening for HBV. Over 80% of respondents reported that ≤50% of their adult Asian patients had received the HBV vaccine. Conclusions: Screening and vaccination for HBV in Asian American patients is inadequate. Measures to improve HBV knowledge and care by primary-care physicians are critically needed. (Gut Liver 2013; 7:450-457)

Here, we report a large, overhanging cystic bleb that compromised vision and induced a foreign body sensation in a patient who underwent a trabeculectomy surgery with anti-metabolite therapy 4 years prior. Ultrasound biomicroscopy revealed multiple loculations with thin septa inside the bleb and a high risk of damage to the bleb was anticipated with a straight forward surgical excision. We injected autologous blood and placed a compression suture 6 weeks prior to surgical excision of the overhanging portion of the bleb. The operation was successful in preserving excellent bleb function, restoring visual acuity, and alleviating symptoms in our patient with up to 9 months of follow-up.
