        Adaptive Finite-time Tracking Control for Class of Uncertain Nonlinearly Parameterized Systems with Input Delay

        In this paper, the tracking problem for a class of uncertain nonlinearly parameterized systems with input delay based the adaptive finite-time control scheme is investigated. The Pade approximation method is employed to handle the input delay problem. In combination with the variable separation technique and standard backstepping design process, a novel adaptive finite-time control strategy with a learning parameter is developed, and a simplified control law established. It can be proved that the system output signal follows the reference signal in finite time and all signals of the system are bounded under this control strategy. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the scheme.

        Measurements and Assessments on Shielding Performance of FCTC10 <sup>60</sup>Co Transport Container

        Background: FCTC10 container is designed to transport $^{60}Co$ radioactive sources used in irradiation industry. It belongs to Type B(U) Category III (yellow) package when being loaded with a $^{60}Co$ source of $1.8{\times}10^5$ Ci. Materials and Methods: The container is constituted of shielding container, basket, protective cover and bracket. Shielding ability is provided mainly by stainless steel shells, tungsten alloy and lead among steel shells. Radiation level around the container has been calculated with both Monte Carlo simulations and measurements. Results and Discussion: It is proven that the shielding performance of the container fulfills the requirements in GB11806-2004 (Regulations for the safe transport of radioactive material, China Standard Press). Exposure doses to workers and to critical groups of public were calculated based on hypothetical exposure scene according to transport practice experience. Conclusion: The results show that doses to workers and public are less than the constraint dose considered in design, and the radiation level would be increased less than a factor of 2 under design basis accidents.

        Initiating Events Study of the First Extraction Cycle Process in a Model Reprocessing Plant

        Background: Definition and grouping of initiating events (IEs) are important basics for probabilistic safety assessment (PSA). An IE in a spent fuel reprocessing plant (SFRP) is an event that probably leads to the release of dangerous material to jeopardize workers, public and environment. The main difference between SFRPs and nuclear power plants (NPPs) is that hazard materials spread diffusely in a SFRP and radioactive material is just one kind of hazard material. Materials and Methods: Since the research on IEs for NPPs is in-depth around the world, there are several general methods to identify IEs: reference of lists in existence, review of experience feedback, qualitative analysis method, and deductive analysis method. While failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) is an important qualitative analysis method, master logic diagram (MLD) method is the deductive analysis method. IE identification in SFRPs should be consulted with the experience of NPPs, however the differences between SFRPs and NPPs should be considered seriously. Results and Discussion: The plutonium uranium reduction extraction (Purex) process is adopted by the technics in a model reprocessing plant. The first extraction cycle (FEC) is the pivotal process in the Purex process. Whether the FEC can function safely and steadily would directly influence the production process of the whole plant-production quality. Important facilities of the FEC are installed in the equipment cells (ECs). In this work, IEs in the FEC process were identified and categorized by FMEA and MLD two methods, based on the fact that ECs are containments in the plant. Conclusion: The results show that only two ECs in the FEC do not need to be concerned particularly with safety problems, and criticality, fire and red oil explosion are IEs which should be emphatically analyzed. The results are accordant with the references.

        Interference Analysis and Transmit Power Control in IEEE 802.11a/h Wireless LANs

        <P>Reducing the energy consumption by wireless communication devices is perhaps the most important issue in the widely deployed and dramatically growing IEEE 802.11 WLANs (wireless local area networks). TPC (transmit power control) has been recognized as one of the effective ways to achieve this goal. In this paper, we study the emerging 802.11a/h systems that provide a structured means to support intelligent TPC. Based on a rigorous analysis of the relationship among different radio ranges and TPC's effects on the interference, we present an optimal low-energy transmission strategy, called MiSer, which is deployed in the format of RTS-CTS(strong)-Data(MiSer)-Ack. The key idea of MiSer is to combine TPC with PHY (physical layer) rate adaptation and compute offline an optimal rate-power combination table, then at runtime, a wireless station determines the most energy-efficient transmission strategy for each data frame transmission by a simple table lookup. Simulation results show MiSer's clear superiority to other two-way or four-way frame exchange mechanisms in terms of energy conservation.</P>

        서울시 시범사업 세이프약국 활성화를 위한 모바일 서비스 연구

        ‘세이프약국’은 시민건강 증진을 위해 약국에서 시민의 포괄적 약력관리 및 각종 보건 서비스를 제공하도록 하는 서울시 시범사업이다. 본 연구에서는 세이프약국에 대한 정보 부족 및 홍보가 부족한 점, 불편한 가입 절차 및 운영 시스템의 미비, 그리고 환자 관리 시스템 및 환자 측면에서 서비스를 이용할 수단이 부재하다는 점에 초점을 맞추었다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 모바일 서비스에서 약국찾기 및 약국 정보 확인을 통해 일반 시민과 환자가 세이프약국에 대해 인지하고 접근할 기회를 높이며, 모바일 어플리케이션을 통한 가입 절차 간소화 및 상담 예약 시스템을 통해 세이프약국 운영의 효율성을 높이고자 하였다. 또한, 모바일 어플리케이션에서 복약관리, 처방전관리, 가족등록, 1:1상담 기능을 제공하여 환자가 지속적으로 자가 관리를 할 수 있도록 하였다. 결과적으로 본 모바일 서비스를 통해 세이프약국에서 시행되는 상담 및 약력관리를 더욱 간편하게 제공함으로써 세이프약국 운영의 효율성을 높이고 나아가 미래 사회에서 약국과 약사의 역할 정립에 기여할 것을 기대한다. Safe Pharmacy' is a demonstration project of Seoul City to manage medicinal histories of citizens comprehensively and to provide various health services in pharmacies with good access, for citizen health promotion. This study is focused on the shortage of provision of information about Safe Pharmacies and promotion, the inconvenient registration procedure and the insufficiency of management systems, and the absence of patient management system and means for patients to use services. The mobile service suggested in this study aims to enable general citizens and patients to easily recognize and have access to Safe Pharmacies by searching for pharmacies and checking pharmacy information and to increase the efficiency of Safe Pharmacy management by simplifying the registration procedure and providing a counseling booking system through a mobile application. Aslo, the mobile application offers medicine taking management, prescription management, family registration, and 1:1(man to man) counseling functions and helps patients using Safe Pharmacy manage themselves continuously.

        Tentative diagnosis and monitoring using ultrasound in a cat with pansteatitis: a case report

        A 7-year-old Scottish Straight cat presented with hypersalivation and generalized hyperesthesia. The cat was provided tuna-based food for 2 to 3 weeks before clinical symptoms appeared. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a heterogeneous, hyperechoic mesentery with hypoechoic foci. Pansteatitis was tentatively diagnosed and the cat was treated with vitamin E, anti-inflammatory drugs, and dietary changes. The clinical signs and changes in mesenteric fat on serial ultrasonography resolved. After feeding tuna-based food again, the same clinical signs and mesenteric changes on ultrasound recurred, which recovered through the same treatment. This study suggests that ultrasonography can be useful for diagnosis and monitoring of feline pansteatitis.

        Body fat assessment by computed tomography and radiography in normal Beagle dogs

        <P>The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among body condition score (BCS), radiography, and computed tomography (CT), and to establish a method for body fat assessment on CT in dogs. Thirty eight Beagles with 2 to 7 BCS were examined. Subcutaneous fat thickness (ST) on radiograph and body area (BA), total fat area (TA), subcutaneous fat area (SA), and visceral fat area (VA) on CT were measured at the level of L3 and L6 vertebra. Ratios of each value to the L6 length were obtained (<SUB>r</SUB>ST, <SUB>r</SUB>TA, <SUB>r</SUB>SA, <SUB>r</SUB>VA) and the correlations with BCS were estimated. The value of VA/SA, VA/TA, TA/BA, VA/BA, and SA/BA were selected for measuring fat and the correlations with BCS were estimated. The <SUB>r</SUB>ST, <SUB>r</SUB>TA, <SUB>r</SUB>SA, and <SUB>r</SUB>VA were significantly correlated with BCS, and the <SUB>r</SUB>TA and <SUB>r</SUB>SA were significantly correlated with <SUB>r</SUB>ST. At the level of L3, <SUB>r</SUB>TA and <SUB>r</SUB>VA had stronger relationships with BCS than at L6 while <SUB>r</SUB>SA had a higher correlation with BCS at L6. The TA/BA, VA/BA, and SA/BA were significantly correlated with BCS, and the upper limits were 15.11, 6.31, and 8.92%, respectively. Our results showed that CT could be useful to assess body fat and TA/BA, VA/BA, and SA/BA are suitable criteria for measuring fat on CT. In addition, L3 was a more suitable location for evaluating total and visceral fat, and L6 was more suitable for evaluating subcutaneous fat.</P>

        A Lifetime-Balancing MAC Protocol under the End-to-End Delay Requirement

        This article presents lifetime-balancing medium accesscontrol (LB-MAC), a new medium access control (MAC) protocolwith embedded adaptivity for asynchronous, duty cycle sensornetworks. Different from existing sensor network MAC protocolsthat usually focus on reducing energy consumption and extendinglifetime of individual sensor nodes, LB-MAC aims at prolongingthe network lifetime under a certain end-to-end delay requirement. It achieves this goal by dynamically tuning a comprehensiveset ofMAC parameters. LB-MAC is a distributed, lightweight,and scalable solution, as the required control information is onlyexchanged locally between neighbors. LB-MAC has been implementedin TinyOS and evaluated on a sensor network testbed withextensive experiments. Results show that LB-MAC is able to yielda significantly longer network lifetime than state-of-the-art MACprotocols such as X-MAC, RI-MAC, and SEESAW, while meetingthe end-to-end delay requirement, andmaintaining comparablelevels of data delivery ratio and average nodal power consumption.
