The recent results of the engine development performed in this year on Turbogreen 1200, the first industrial gas turbine engine developed in Korea, are presented. In order to improve the engine performance and structural stability from the first prototype engine, several variants of the engine and major components such as combustor and rotor assembly have been developed and tested. This paper shows these results especially focused on the engine test and performance analysis, in which test system, instrumentation and data processing are discussed as well. The engine performance and its trend give relatively good coincidence with the design ones. At design power of 1.2㎿, the thermal efficiency of the engine is estimated over 25% which is below the design target of 27.2%. This gap of efficiency is caused mainly by large tip clearance between turbine blades and casing. Considering high design efficiency superior to those of other competitive engines in this power class, Turbogreen 1200 would have a strong competition in its performance if the design efficiency is achieved by further developments such as tip clearance control, which are very possible and natural in final mass production of the developed gas turbine engine.

This paper describes the experimental production of indoor map applications of the building at our campus using multiple iBeacons. Beacon is equipped with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and is the equipment parallel with the standard of iBeacon. In this paper are displayed in the indoor map application acquires location information inside the building by using the beacon. It is common to use the three points method to acquire the location information in the building. However, the authors thought whether you wii not acquire location information in a beacon stand from easy cost side and management. It is difficult because the value of RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) is not stable to acquire the location information a beacon. Therefore, the authors measured RSSI using beacons. Consequently, precision improved more than the case when location information was acquired in a beacon by removing the unnecessary data which sometimes occurs. In this paper is acquire RSSI of beacons, indoor map application displays the present location to a map. As a result, the authors was able to develop the map application that will be display location information using beacons.
Carbon Reduction Investments under Direct Shipment Strategy

Recently much research efforts have focused on how to manage carbon emissions in logistics operations. This paper formulates a model to determine an optimal shipment size with aims to minimize the total cost consisting not only of inventory and transportation costs but also cost for carbon emissions. Unlike the literature assuming carbon emission factors as a given condition, we consider the emission factors as decision variables. It is allowed to make an investment in improving carbon emission factors. The optimal investment decision is shown to be of a threshold type with respect to unit investment costs. Moreover, the findings in this work provide insights on the various elements of the investment decision and their impacts.

In ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) plant, electricity is generated by heat energy from temperature difference between warm seawater at surface and cold seawater in depth. OTEC plants have an evaporator as one of the most important devices. Indeed, the evaporator evaporates the working fluid to rotate the turbine connected to the generator. In this research, a model of heat source system in an OTEC pilot plant for stable operation of the plant is constructed. In the OTEC pilot plant, the evaporation of the working fluid is realized by warm water from a boiler. Therefore, it is important to keep the temperature of warm water constant. Since the temperature of warm water can be changed by manipulating the valve opening, first order models to describe the relationship between the temperature and the valve opening are constructed based on experimental data. The effectiveness of the constructed models was verified through simulation.

Nowadays, automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems are frequently employed in automated warehouses. Recently, a problem has emerged regarding the movement of AGVs under uncertain transportation conditions necessitated by the novel logistics required for connected industries and societies. In the present study, we attempt to develop a simultaneous planning method to determine the optimal number and dwell point of AGVs in an AGV transfer system, under uncertain transportation conditions, based on a genetic algorithm. We propose an algorithm that can determine the optimal number of AGVs as well as the dwell points for idle AGVs such that the mean response time is minimized and the amount of the work done by the AGVs is maximized, even when the transportation condition is uncertain. Moreover, we investigate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm using numerical calculations and simulation experiments. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than previously used algorithms, in terms of the average matching time of products.
Mental workload of in-vehicle device operation by eye gazing for head-up display

When operating for information retrieval by in-vehicle device, we need to gaze at associative objects such as displays and in-vehicle control panels. This activity by gaze-based information retrieval may induce the risk of traffic accidents. In this study, a novel technique for reducing such risk using head-up display is introduced. The use of control panels shown in the head-up display can maintain the amount of attention toward traffic condition ahead of the vehicle. On the other hand, mental workload generated by using this novel technique has not been evaluated thus far. Therefore, this paper presents the results of evaluation for the mental workload generated by the proposed technique by comparing with the technique used for conventional manual operation, using NASA-TLX during performing peripheral detection task.

A simple modeling method in the time domain for interconnect with frequency dependent loss is presented. This model consists of nonuniform transmission line with frequency independent per unit length parameters. Then time domain characteristics can be efficiently calculated.
