In this study, effect of outlet angle variation of oil cooling fan for large diesel engine transmission on the fan performance was analyzed by using CFD. Exhaust mass flow rate at outlet, theoretical power and efficiency for various outlet angles were calculated numerically. Consequently, as the outlet angle was increased, the theoretical power and efficiency were a little mounted. Also, method to improving the fan performance was proposed. To verify the reliability of CFD results, Experiment following AMCA Standard 210-99 was carried out and then, CFD results and experimental results were compared. As the result, it could be confirmed a performance curve showed about 3% gap between experiment and CFD.

Suspension Pull is majer problem of HMC Passenger car. This is known that suspension Pull is affected by suspension parameters. tire characteristics and road cant. Continuously variable transmission (CVT) has been widely accepted since it improves both fuel economy and driving performance simultaneously. Therefore, the development of CVT has been under way competitively by a lot of automotive makers. In this paper, a belt-pulley system, the integral parts of the CVT system, was designed and tested on the CVT test rig. It is found from the test results that the thrust characteristic depends on the centrifugal effect of the oil and the belt element and the slip point increases with the speed ratio. It is noted that the thrust also depends on the oil temperature and the number of belt clement that contact with the pulley. In addition, the scaling performance and stability for the hydraulic chamber of the pulley under the high pressure are found to be acceptable from the viewpoint of variator operation.

Correlation between vehicle dynamics analysis and test results is very important to develop chassis subsystem using objective performance target of the vehicle. This paper presents correlation between test and simulation results such as kinematic and compliance analysis for the half vehicle and handling analysis for the full vehicle. Specially, chassis components are considered flexibility effects and analyzed contribution for the K&C and R&H performance. Guide lines of the full vehicle modeling for the handling analysis are suggested using handling analysis correlation results.
자동차용 EGR Cooler에 탄소나노용액 첨가시 강제대류 열교환의 실험적 연구

Recently gasoline direction injector in gasoline engine and exhaust gas recirculation in diesel engine is focusing on the heart of advanced engines. An automotive type exhaust gas recirculation cooler or heat exchanger that is constructed for integral mounting to the engine intake manifold, the cooler being flat and having an engine coolant inlet at one end of an oblong casing, and a coolant outlet at the other end to flow coolant with a U-shaped tube containing EGR gases to be cooled. As particle size is decreased from micron size down to true carbon nano colloid size (<10 ㎚), surface forces are increasingly important. Nano particles at close proximity or high solids loading are expected to show a different behavior than what can be estimated from continuum and mean field theories. This paper use water and carbon nano colloid fluid at normal cooling system of EGR, experimental result showed all good agreement at Re=2.54×10⁴ for the optimal cooling.

Recently importance of Virtual Development Process (VDP) has been increased more and more to reduce the time and cost in developing many industrial products. To achieve the successful VDP, a design process including analysis types, design specifications, and items for each component must be standardized. Hyundai Motors Company(HMC) and VirtualMotion have incorporated to develop the several standard design processes for some vehicle dynamics components in DAFUL/CAR on top of for DAFUL that is an integrated solver for multi-body dynamics and FEA dynamics. Hyundai Motors Company has developed various toolkits, based on analysis and design technology of HMC.

Recently, Use of Auxiliary power unit(APU) is increasing by growing demand for improvement of insufficient electric power and installation of emergency generation devices in military tracked vehicles and civil markets. And the trend is that the units are demanded for smaller size, lighter weight and higher output power, etc to suit consumer demands. To achieve these, cooling system and heat transfer characteristic investigations becomes very important designing factor. This paper is performed to get a useful data of thermal characteristics in the engine room of APU by experimental study. As a results, the temperature distribution data and rotational speed variation obtained and they will serve as useful design data for performance improvement in APU.
