이청준 소설의 윤리학 -탈근대적 민중공동체 복원을 향한 근원 사유

이청준 소설은 한국의 소설에서는 드물게 서구의 인식론과 존재론에 고유한 개념과 문제들을 직접 소설의 주제로 끌어들여 천착해 왔다. 그러나 이러한 질문들 안에서 이청준 소설이 제기하는 근본 질문은 공동체성이 훼손된 사회에서 개인에게 가능한 윤리적 선택에 대한 탐문이었고, 이는 근대적 시민성의 문제와 민중적 공동체 복원의 가능성을 동시에 물으며 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 탐문은 『이어도』나 『당신들의 천국』에서 특히 분명하게 나타난 것처럼, 종종 아포리아에 처하게 된다. 이러한 아포리아로의 귀결은 존재론적 자유와 사회적 실천의 배리라는 문제가 이청준 소설이 지니는 고유한 난점인 동시에, 이청준이 이 난점 자체를 주제로 삼고 있음을 보여준다. 이청준 소설은 서구 관념론에 결합된 근대적 시민성에 대한 질문을 넘어 민중공동체 복원의 가능성을 묻는 질문으로 더 많이 향하게 되며, 훼손된 듯 보이는 민중 공동체 안에 여전히 내밀하게 전수되는 시와 노래와 이야기가 지닌 근원적 힘을 공동체 복원의 토대로 제시한다. 이러한 사유는 『인문주의자 무소작씨의 종생기』를 넘어 『신화를 삼킨 섬』에 이르기까지, 점점 신화적 근원 사유로 진전해가고 있는 듯 보인다. 『신화를 삼킨 섬』에서 이청준은 신화의식을 민중 공동체 복원의 근원적 힘으로 제시하는 동시에 권력이 민중 신화를 전유할 때 시민 사회에 대한 지배의 강력한 도구가 됨을 보여준다. 이 소설에서 이청준은 민중 신화가 가지는 양면의 기능을 병치하여 보여주면서, 여전히 개인의 윤리적 선택 문제를 검토하고 있다. 개인이 자유와 비지배를 자신의 삶의 방식으로 취하는 윤리적 선택은 동시에 정치적 올바름의 실현이다. 이청준의 소설은 공동체라는 부질없는 환상의 끈덕짐에 대해 끈질기게 의혹과 혐의를 두고 있어 보인다. 그러면도 현실의 지배 질서에 저항하는 유일한 힘의 원천으로서 국가, 사회, 민족 이전에, 배면에, 그러한 이름들에 저항하며 존재하는 공동체 복원에 대한 꿈을 제시한다. 다만 공동체 또한 현실로 나타나거나 가시적이 된다면, 개인의 자유에 가하는 폭력성을 지니게 될 것이기에, 도달될 수 없는 꿈인 한에서만 공동체는 해방적 힘을 간직한다. 도달할 수 없는 꿈인 공동체는 이야기 혹은 미완의 신화를 통해서만 자기의 모습을 간간히, 일부만을 드러낸다. 『신화를 삼킨 섬』은 이러한 이청준의 사유가 집약된 작품이다. Lee Chung-jun`s Novels often show aporia at endings. It seem that the aporia came from his own problem that his ontological thought is contradictory to his ethics. His early novels presented the thematic problem that one`s quest for freedom is unavoidably as oppressive to the other. In his late novels, he focused on the matter of restoration of ex-modern people`s community. His last novel,『An Island which swallows myth』well demonstrates the originated thought about restoration of ex-modern people`s community, with questioning how a folk memory has become a myth, and how the dominant power abuses the myth for its own purpose. Every community has its myth as its origin, and the myth is the center which hopes, dreams, desires and ideals of the community members are gathered around. But the myth is created by associating mythos with logos and the myth itself is a product of a collective will which subordinates the individual will to. The myth which an community is founded on, get logic of identification to work and maintains as oppressive to community members. So, 『An Island which swallows myth』 implies an community has its liberating powers only when a dream of it will never be accomplished and it remains incomplete, as an abortive hero motive in folk narratives implies.

Voice Mismatch Meets Neurolinguistics

This paper aims to investigate Korean advanced L2 English learners’ strategies for ellipsis resolution during sentence processing. Ellipsis resolution is known to involve several stages of information processing from the initial step of detecting an ellipsis-licensing element by the parser to the final stage of integrating the ellipsis site with the information retrieved from the antecedent of the ellipsis site. In examining these steps, we have manipulated three factors: (i) TP vs. VP-ellipsis; (ii) two types of discourse coherence relations (resemblance(-contrast) vs. cause-effect relations); (iii) voice match vs. mismatch. We found through the ERP recordings that voice mismatch in TP ellipsis elicited N400, followed by P600, irrespective of discourse coherence relations. In contrast, voice mismatch in VP-ellipsis registered N400 only in resemblance(-contrast) relation, but not in cause-effect relation. These findings lead us to conclude that Korean advanced L2 learners of English seem to undergo the full sequence of processing stages required for ellipsis resolution.

The purpose of this study is to determine through what media and how much ecological variables affect the ego-identity formation among adolescents. In particular, their media and amount of influence are analyzed according to sex and age of the youths. For this investigation, spousal relationship, socioeconomic status of the family, peer relationship, and student-teacher relationship are taken for external variables; parental expectation from their childrens education, parental attitude to child rearing, family support, peer support, and ego identity for internal variables. A random sample of 767 secondary school male and female students and 767 parents was investigated through questionnaires for the nine variables mentioned above. The results of the questionnaires were analyzed by covariance structure analysis, and path analysis and Lisrel-pc 8.03 statistical analysis program were applied to determine cause-and-effect relations among the variables. After reviewing previous studies, the following conclusions were derived: First, in regard to the media through which these ecological variable are affecting the ego identity development, female adolescents are susceptible to spousal relationship, socioeconomic status of the family, and parental attitude to child rearing, parental expectation from their childrens education, parental attitude to child rearing, and peer support, but male adolescents are not noticeably affected by these variables. While parental expectation from education affect peer support positively for male adolescents, these variables have no effect on female adolescents. Second, with respect to sexual differences, female adolescents are affected by familial factors more notably than male adolescents are. Third, in regard to the media through which these ecological variable are affecting the ego identity development, the middle school students are susceptible to spousal relationship, parental expectation from their childrens education, parental expectation from their childrens education, and peer support, but the high school students are not noticeably affected by these variables. While socioeconomic status of the family, and peer support affect peer support, and the ego identity positively for the high school students, these variables have no effect on the middle school students. Finally, as for the age differences, it was found that as they grow older, student-teacher relationship and peer support have a stronger influence than familial factors do.

청소년과 폭력성 멀티미디어에 대한 일고찰

There has been an increasing amount of adolescent violence that can be linked and attributed to excessive exposure to multimedia violence. In this article the impact of acceptability of multi-media violence on adolescent violence. In order to understand the impact of multimedia viilence, the concept of violence and multimedia were descried more condretely The impact of multimedia related adilescent violence were analysed with related researches. Most of studies on the relationship between multi-media violence and aggression in adolescents support a signigicant correlation. After rebiewing previous studies, the negative functions of multimedia violence could be described such as the decline of self-esteem, making adilescent more impulsive. and increasing frustration, The viewer concluded that using the multi-media resulted in adolescents becoming desensitized to violence and suggested adolescents are influenced more by using multi-media violence than by seeing real people acting aggressively.

신경섬유종증 환자에서 상완신경총 병변의 소견을 보인 척추 신경섬유종

본 증례는 50세 여성의 제 1형 신경섬유종 환자로서 척추 신경섬유종에 의해 초기 상완신경총 병변 소견을 보였다. 약 4개월 동안 후경부통, 좌측 견관절, 좌측 상완의 마비를 보였으며, 초기 전기진단학적 검사상 경수 5번과 6번 신경근을 중심으로 쇄골상부 신경절전성 상완신경총 병변이 관찰되었다. 그러나, 액와 자기공명영상, 초음파검사, 단순 방사선검사, 골주사 등의 영상학적 검사에서는 심한 흉추 척추 전-측만증과 경수 뇌경막에 확장 소견을 제외하고는 상완신경총 병변의 소견은 관찰되지 않았다. 7개월경과 후, 좌측 상지 및 양측 하지의 근력 저하, 경수 4번이하의 감각 저하, 경도의 흉통을 동반한 호흡곤란이 진행되었다. 응급으로 시행된 경수 자기공명영상에서 좌측 경수 3번과 4번에 경막내 액와-속질의 신경종양이 진단되었다. 수술적 처치를 시행하였으며, 거시적 관찰상 척수 신경섬유종이 진단되었다. 급격히 진행하는 척수 신경섬유종은 초기에 상완신경총의 신경근 병변의 소견을 보일 수 있으므로, 신경섬유종증 환자에서 상완신경총 병변의 진단에 세심한 주의를 요한다. We observed a patient with symptom similar to brachial plexus lesion caused by spinal neurofibroma in a 50-year-old female with a history of neurofibromatosis-1(NF-1). She presented with posterior neck, left shoulder and left upper arm paralysis of 4 months duration. The initial electrodiagnostic study(EDS) revealed supraclavicular preganglionic brachial plexus lesion of mainly involved left C5 and C6 roots. However, radiological imagings including axillar MRI, ultrasonography, cervical plain radiography and bone scintigraphy showed no definitive brachial plexus disease except cervical dural dilation and severe thoracic scolio-Iordosis. On 7 months after the first admission, she had aggravated muscle weakness on the left upper arm and both lower extremities, sensory impairment below C4 and respiration difficulty with the chest pain. Emergency MRI showed intradural axillar-medullary neurogenic tumor at the left C3-C4. Subsequently, the patient was treated with surgical resection. Grossly specimen examination displayed the presence of a spinal neurofibroma. In rapidly progressing spinal neurofibroma represented firstly as root lesion of brachial plexus in EDS, the physician should pay scrupulous care to evaluate the cause.

In this article, those psychological aspects of ego in woman was examined as the purpose of this article was an investigation of female identity formation. Especially psychoanalytic approaches including Freud, Jung, Adler, Horney, Fromm and Erikson on the development of female ego which emphasized on sex differences were examined. It was found that those theories were wrong biases and had obvious weaknesses due to the biological basis for woman's inferior. From viewing the previous studies we can concluded that although women may view themselves as inadequate compared the man, they to so for societal reasons, not because they were born female. and if women feel unworthy, it is because they have been treated that way in male-dominated culture. It was suggested that the reasonal and desirable approach of female ego have to consider the social and cultural aspects of the feminine psyche.
