        Seasonal and vertical distributions of dissolved and particulate organic carbon were investigated from May 1995 to March 1997 in n deep mesotrophic reservoir, Lake Soyang, POC contentrations at the dam site ranged from 0.1 to 1.8 mgC/L and DOC concentrations ranged from 1.4 to 4.9 mgC/L. POC concentrations in the surface layer were higher in the season of cyanobacterial bloom, July to September. High POC was observed at the depth of 30 to 60m after storm runoff in summer monsoon season. Turbid storm runoff formed intermediate current laden with much particulate materials from terrestrial sources. The vertical and seasonal variation of DOC was smaller than POC. Higher DOC was observed near the lake bottom which implies sedimentation and degradation of much organic detritus at the bottom. The ratio of DOC : POC varied from 2 to 60, and the ratio was lowest in September 1995 when algal density was highest. DOC : POC ratio of the main inflowing river, the Soyang River, varied from 1 to 10, and the ratio was low in storm runoff when the POC concentration was high.

        위절제술 환자의 표준진료지침 개발 및 적용 효과

        Background : Gastric cancer is the most common malignant tumor in Korea. surgical operation is one of the major treatment modalities for gastric cancer patients. Therefore, gastrectomy is one of the most common procedures in General Surgery. There were variation in length of hospital stay and medical treatment for gastrectomy between three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. Clinical pathways have received considerable attention as a tool for recucing the medical practice variation, increasing the efficiency of care process, and improving the quality of care. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a clinical pathway for gastrectomy in gastric cancer patients. Methods : The clinical pathway for gastrectomy was developed and implemented by a multidisciplinary group in Asan Medical Center. A computerized clinical pathway program was developed and revised after a pilot test. A total of 145 patients underwent gastrectomy by three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. We compared the length of hospital stay, patient satisfaction, and unplanned readmission rate between the pre-pathway group(n=67) and the post-pathway group(n=78). We also investigated the degree of satisfaction among the physicians and nurses who were main end-users of the clinical pathway. Results : The clinical pathway was applied to all target patients. The average length of hospital stay was shortened from 12.7days to 10.6days(p<0.01). The degree of patient satisfaction with the care process changed from 90.3% to 89.2% after the implementation of the clinical pathway, but the difference was of satistically significant(p=0.761). Unplanned readmission rate was 2.9% in the pre-pathway group. More than 90% of physicians and nurses answered that the clinical pathway had been a useful tool in their medical practice. Conclusions : The findings of the study demonstrated that implementation of the clinical pathway for gastrectomy produced substantial reduction in the length of hospital stay while improving the quality of patient outcomes. The computerized clinical pathway program can be used as one of the powerful patient management tools for reducing the practice variations and increasing the efficiency of care process in Korea hospital settings.

      • 기계적 합금화로 제조한 half-Heusler ZrNiSn1-xSbx 합금에서의 캐리어 이동 특성

        Half-heusler ZrNiSn1-xSbx (0.02≤x≤0.08) alloys were prepared by mechanical alloying of elemental powders, and consolidated by vacuum hot pressing. Single phase of the Sb doped ZrNiSn was successfully produced in all doping ranges without subsequent annealing. Phase transformations during mechanical alloying and hot consolidation were investigated using XRD and SEM. Thermoelectric properties as functions of temperature and Sb contents were evaluated for hot pressed specimens. Their doping effect on the thermoelectric and the transport properties were examined. The Hall and Seebeck coefficients confirmed that all the Sb doped compositions exhibited n-type conduction. Relatively high carrier concentration and medium mobility were observed. Sb doping up to x=0.04 in ZrNiSn1-xSbx was shown to be effective on thermoelectric properties, and the figure of merit (ZT) was shown to reach to the maximum at x=0.02 in this study.

        Half-heusler TiCoSb1-xSnx (0.00≤x≤0.05) alloys were prepared by mechanical alloying of elemental powders, and consolidated by vacuum hot pressing. Phase transformations during mechanical alloying and hot consolidation were investigated using XRD and SEM. Single phase of Half-heusler phases were successfully produced in all doping ranges in as-milled state, but a little fraction of CoSb phase appeared after hot pressing. The process can be an alternative processing route for the synthesis of thermoelectric Half-heusler compounds.

      • 단위제 실시에 관한 문제점 조사연구 : 제주도 인문계 고등학교를 중심으로 on the humane high schools in Jeju-Do

        Our educational courses and curriculum have frequently due to frequent changes in the educational environment. In the highshools, the unit system was adopted on Feb, 15th, 1963. Yet the current school teachers have a poor understanding and knowledge of it. Therefore, this system can't be run effectively. The current school teachers undertake many difficulties by accepting responsibilities for school affairs. There is a pressing need to increase their knowledge of the unit system. The salient point of the unit system is that in principle every high school should adopt the unit system. Under our actual education circumstances, it is very hard to adopt the complete unit system. However, in order to promote uniform education and to have chance to take one's adoptability by opticonal course, we should have deep knowledge of it. The unit system prescribes as follows; 1) In principle, the high school teaching curriculum should adopt the unit system. However, due to difficulties adopting the unit system, they can adopt the grade system, or both the grade system and the unit system. 2) The unit allotment table shows the total unit numbers which the 3rd grade high school students need to complete the regular course. 3) Usually we have 36 weeks of school-days per year. One unit means to complete the regular course for 18 unit hours per term, and 1 unit hour has 50 minutes. 4) According to student's career and job selection, high school courses can be dclassified into humanistic, scientific, vocational and art courses. 5) with respect to the weather, season and the characteristic of the subject contents, they can make an available unit-hour education curriculum. But since most of the current school teachers have a poor knowledge on the principles of the unit system, the aim of this paper is to help them understand the necessity of the unit system and to offer them information necessary to restructure the education curriculum. In conclusion this paper describes the actual circumstances and problems of high schools, and attempts to improve them

      • 뇌의부분 손상으로 인한 정동행동의 변화에 관한 연구

        Nucleus accumbens septi (NAB), one of mesolimbic system, which anatomically related the limbic system. We an attempted to elucidated emotional changes following bilateral NAB lesions in rats. Caudal, rostral and both areas of NAB were lesioned each in separated animal groups. Furthermore, aggressive behavior induced by NAB rats was investigated in comparison with those induced by olfactory bulbectomized rats and raphe nucleus-lesioned rats. 1) At postoperative day 2, locomotor activity were increased in r-NAB rats but not in c-NAB rats. 2) All rats exhibited hyperirritability and muricide including mouse-eating behavior after NAB lesions. 3) Muricide of NAB rats was significantly supressed by L-DOPA, L-5-HTP and antidepressants, muricide of raphe rats was also significantly inhibited by L-DOPA and L-5-HTP, while that in OB rats was not suppressed. These results suggested that the NAB plays an important role in locomotor activity and aggression. The characteristics of aggressive behavior induced by NAB rats resemble to that of raphe-rats.

      • 肝蛭(Fasciola hepatica)의 脂質에 關한 硏究

        The present study was undertaken to observe the quality and quantity of lipids in the adult worms of sheep liverfluke, Fasciola hepatica. Lipid extract was done by the methods of Folch et al. (1957) and Kenny (1952), and the the extracted lipid fractions of the worms were separated by thin layer chromatography. Those fractions were also subjected to perform the quantitative analyses of glycerides, cholesterols and phospholipids. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Total amount of glyceride was 45.29㎎ per gram wet weight of worm tissue: the amount of monoglyceride was 4.46㎎; diglyceride, 13.59㎎; and triglyceride, 25.63㎎ per gm wet weight of worm tissue. 2. Total amount of cholesterol was 8.10㎎ per gm wet weight of worm tissue, and the amount of esterified cholesterol(5.21㎎/gm) was much more than that of free cholesterol (2.15㎎/gm). 3. The following 10 phospholipids were detected in the worm tissue of F. hepatica, i.e., lysophosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, sphingomyelin, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylethanolamine and three species of unknown phospholipides.
