This ecological studies carried out to survey the insect fauna, community structure, standing crop and environmental factors of the aquiatic insects in the Kwang`yang stream, from January to September, 1985. The aquiatic insect fauna in the Kwang`yang stream is composed of total 154 species, 78 genera, 41 families, 10 orders. The indigenous species in the Kwang`yang stream are Isotomutus schaefferi, Archisotoma sp., Dipteromimus tipulifomis, Strophopteryx faciata, Arctopsyche maculata, A. sp. A, A. sp. B, A. sp. D, Luciola cruciata, Culiodes sp. KA. The percentage of standing crop according to the insect orders are as follows; Ephemeroptera 39.9%, Odonata 2.9%, Plecoptera 8.7%, Megaloptera 12.2%, Trichoptera 28.5%, Coleoptera 2.0%, Diptera 5.5%, Others 0. 3%. In the monthly variation of standing crop, the highest on February (62.8g) and the lowest on August (4.6g). Seasonal variation of standing crop is showed high in winter and spring (24.8∼62.8g), but low in summer and autumn (4.6∼16.1g). According to the surveyed sites, standing crop showed to tendency high at upper (27. 8∼64. lg) and low at lower stream (2.3∼5. 2g), respectively. Epeorus latifolium was a dominant species in the surveyed area. Dominance indices of the upper stream showed low value of 0. 244∼0. 319 and that of the lower stream showed high value of 0.459∼0.839. Species diversity indices represented 4.160 in the Kwang`yang stream, among them, 2. 925∼4. 120 at upper stream, 2. 695∼3.123 at mid stream and 1.023∼1.703 at lower stream. By similarity value, the Kwang`yang stream is divided the three distinctive regions, upper, mid and lower stream, respectively.

This study was examined to clarify on food habits and relationships about 4 species of superfamily Sublipalpia in Plecoptera (Insecta). Oyamia coreana fed mainly on young nymphs of Chironomidae and Heptageniidae and feeding amount of each foregut was 3∼7 individuals of Chironomidae. Paragnetina flavotincta fed on 1∼2 individuals of Heptageniidae, 1∼3 of Baetidae and 6∼9 of Chironomidae. Kiotina decorata fed on 2∼3 individuals of Heptageniidae. Megarcy ochracea fed on Chironomidae and Heptageniidae and feeding amount of each foregut was about 20 individuals of Chironomidae. Actively feeding season of these species is spring, where as, inactive in fall. Food selection except Kiotina decorata which had preference for Heptageniidae (electivity, +0.6) had for Chironomidae (+0.4∼0.8), but all of them avoided plant materials and aquatic insects of which head capsule width was over 2.0 mm.

The seasonal and altitudinal distribution of the Plecoptera nymphs in Paemsagol valley were studied from October 1986 to August 1987. Total number of species identified was 19 species representing 17 genera in 9 families. The seasonal variation was showed 12 species on spring and winter, 10 species on autumn and 5 species on summer, respectively. Scopura laminata occurred in over the elevation of 700 m. Taenionema KUb and T. KUc are only occurred in the elevation of 1,000 m. According to the increasing altitude, the number of individuals of Taenionema KUa, Yoraperla KUa and Megarcys ochracea were increased, but Oyamia coreana and Pteronarcys saccharina were decreased. Predominantly occurring species in the number of individuals were Yoraperla KUa, Taenionema KUa, Sweltsa nikkoensis, and in biomass were Paragnetina flavotincta, Kamimuria KUa, Megarcys ochracea and Paragnetina flavotincta.

The aquatic insects of mayflies (Ephemeroptera) and stoneflies (Plecoptera) which inhabited in Yo^˘ngsan and Tamjin rivers were identified, and sensitivity, tolerance range, and pollution tolerance index associated with identified each species on the environmental pollutants were investigated. Also in order to use as indicator organisms, nine species were selected and the optimal BOD_5 value and relative frequency of occurance were computed and examined. Thirty species of mayflies and twentytwo species of stoneflies were identified. Potamanthus sp. NB and Ecdyonurus yoshidae tolerated in low pH level of 5. 5. E. yoshidae, Ephemerella rufa and Cloeon dipterum tolerated in waters with high nutrient concentration. P, sp. NB, E. rufa and C. dipterum also tolerated in organically polluted and low dissolved oxygen concentration waters. Tolerant species to high water temperature of above 30℃ was E. rufa and stoneflies, Alloperla granulata and Phasaganophora capitata occured at low water temperature in 5℃ to 15℃ limitted. Tolerant species to the turbidity of above 20 NTU were Baetis sp. KA and Tadamus sp. The pollution tolerance indices of mayflies and stoneflies were range from 0.5 to 5 and 0 to 2, respectively. P. sp. NB and E. rufa showed the highest optimal BOD_5 value of 10.5㎎/ℓ, at that concentration, their relative frequencies of occurance were 29.6% and 57.2%, respectively. Three species of stoneflies were range from 1.4 to 1.5 ㎎/ℓ and 40.1 to 46.5%.

김종선,나철호 ( Jong Sun Kim,Chul Ho Ra ) 한국하천호수학회 1996 생태와 환경 Vol.29 No.2
A study was conducted to gain information on the life cycles and emergence patterns of Oyamia nigribasis and Kamimuria coreana collected from Mt. Mudung and Byongpung in Korea. Oyamia nigribasis and Kamimuria coreana were semivoltine species which were taken two years to complete their life cycle, but some individuals hatched lately were lasted three years. The emergence patterns of both species were the extended type and the adults of O. nigribasis emerged between April to August and K. coreana emerged May to August. They emerged in the night and spent about 30∼40 minutes. O. nigribasis had some delayed hatching or diapause because their early instars were occurred between February and March, but this was not clear in K. coreana.
