Tire manufacturers are trying to reduce the tire rolling resistance for decreasing vehicle fuel consumption. Tire rolling resistance is caused by hysteretic losses of various tire components. This paper represents a prediction system that can forecast the tire rolling resistance in advance before making tire. The neural network algorithm of data-mining was applied for this estimation program. This program will indicate tire design guide line to tire engineer correctively and quickly. The achievement of this paper will be applied to automotive and tire industry to reduce energy consumption.

Vehicle pull is one of the most important problem on the vehicle quality from customers. To understand the vehicle pull, this paper describes vehicle pull phenomenon by considering the causing factors of a tire and a vehicle through the matching factors. The paper has considered the three groups of pulling factors: Tire factors of conicity and PRAT, vehicle factors of wheel alignment, and the external environment factor of road crown and weight. Those factors must be analyzed to improve the vehicle pull tendency. Therefore. by using ADAMS/CAR, vehicle pull simulation which makes it possible to consider the effects of passenger and road crown, PRAT, conicity and wheel alignment, is applied to evaluate drift and WST(Wheel Steering Torque).
블록 강성의 예측 방법과 타이어 패턴 설계 적용에 관한 연구

Pattern shape on the tire is one of the most interested area for the tire designer, because it is important component which is related with a lot of performances and also should arouse customer's interest. Especially, the behaviour of tread pattern block is one of basic reference that estimates wear performance, breaking performance, and cornering performance, etc. To estimate this behaviour of pattern block, block stiffness values have often used in the pattern shape design step. In this study, numerical and analytical approach are introduced and compared to estimate block stiffness of pattern, and we study on the method to apply block stiffness to pattern shape design. And by applying this method to simple pattern block, we investigate the relation between block stiffness and tire stiffness by tread pattern.

Tire is complicated structure which should satisfy with durability, handling, wear, ride and etc. But, most of tire optimum design theories can not satisfy with all of these performances simultaneously, and make optimum design with only two or three items out of performances listed above. After initial concept design to satisfy some of desired objective performances, designers should modify initial concept design to improve other performances. So, it is necessary to monitor initial performance as modifying initial design variables. In this paper, to monitor tire performances, we report performance estimation tools applied artificial neural networks using learning data from orthogonal array.

It is generally known that the PRAT(Plysteer Residual Aligning Torque) is a tire design factor to affect vehicle pull. This paper was written to predict a tire PRAT using knowledge information and Fuzzy Logic. Input data of this PRAT Prediction Program are Lateral groove angle of tread pattern. Steel Belt Angle and Cap Ply Laying Condition. This program will indicate tire design guide line to tire engineer correctively and quickly.

Vehicle pull is one of the most important problem at the initial stage of vehicle development. It is generally known that the vehicle pull is a phenomenon occurred by the residual force and moment. To minimized vehicle pull in this paper introduces the analysis method of vehicle pull simulation which makes it possible to consider matching factors between a vehicle and tires using design of experiments. Therefore, it has analyzed the correlation between factors using ADAMS/CAR S/W including PAC2002 Tire model.

It is generally known that the PRAT(Plysteer Residual Aligning Torque) is one of indicating a performance factors of a tire for assessing the vehicle pull. And the PRAT of a tire depends on various tire design factors. Expecially tire pattern shape, which means lateral groove angle, is very important tire design factor in relation to the PRAT. Lateral grooves of tire pattern are widely divided into center and shoulder parts. So, this paper has studied the correlation between the PRAT and their lateral groove angles using FEM. Firstly, analysis result data have been compared with the experimental data to validate FE analysis for PRAT. Next, the PRAT due to the lateral groove angle about PCR tire and SUV tire has been analyzed. The tendency of the PRAT due to the lateral groove angles can be used as a guide line for the tire design in relation to vehicle pull.
3D 패턴드 타이어에 대한 정상 상태 롤링 해석 기법 적용

The steady state rolling analysis method in relation to tire analysis has been often used for the research of tire rolling performance because of the efficiency of computation time. But, this has a limit that meshes in the section have to be the same along the circumferential direction, so can not consider 3D pattern. That is, as above reason, this has been used for performance research in relation to only tire structure factors without 3D pattern until now. However, from now, it is possible to analyze in consideration of 3D pattern due to F.E. code development recently. So, in this study, we have examined the application of rolling performance research of 3D patterned tire using steady state rolling analysis implementing ABAQUS Release 6.6. We have analyzed the PRAT in relation to vehicle pull, cornering stiffness in relation to steering response, the footprint shape and F&M in the cornering state, and compared with test results.
