막내골화와 연골내골화 등의 정상적인 골격 성장은 섬유아세포 성장인자 (FGF) 와 이들 수용체들 (FGFR) 에 의한 신호전달체계에 의해 조절된다. 또한 전사조절인자인 Runx2 (Cbfa1/Pebp2αA/AML3) 는 골아세포분화 뿐만 아니라 골형성에도 필수적인 유전자로 알려져 있다. FGF signaling이 mouse의 두 개관과 하악에서의 연골 형성에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있으며, 이 과정에서 Runx2의 연관성을 알아보고자 in vivo 및 in vitro 실험을 시행하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 두 개관의 하악을 Alcian blue 염색한 결과 시상두개봉합부 연골은 태생16일부터, Meckel's 연골은 태생11일부터 형성되기 시작하였다. 이들 연골세포들의 성사을 알아보기위한 in situ hybridization 결과 시상두개봉합부 연골 및 Meckel's 연골 모두에서 type Ⅱ collagen은 발현되었으나, Type X collagen은 발현되지 않았다. Runx2 mRNA는 시상두개봉합부 연골과 Meckel's 연골 모두에서 발현되지 않았지만, 이들 연골들의 가장자리를 둘러싸고 있는 독특한 발현양상을 나타내었다. 두개 봉합부에서의 FGF2 protein의 국소적 적용은 두개봉합부 하방의 연골형성을 억제하였다. 또한 하악의 Meckel's 연골 발생부위에 FGF2 protein의 국소적 적용 역시 Meckel's 연골의 형성을 억제하였다. FGF2 protein은 시상두개봉합부상의 bead 주위로 Runx2의 발현을 유도하였다. 이 결과들을 종합해볼 때, FGF signaling은 골아세포와 연골아세포가 공존하고 있는 조직에서의 연골 형성을 억제하고 있음을 시사해 주고 있으며, 이 과정에서 FGF signaling은 부분적으로 Runx2 유전자의 발현을 조절하므로써 연골세포의 증식과 분화에 관여할 것으로 사료된다. Figroblast growth factor (FGF) / FGF receptor (FGFR) mediated signaling is required for skeletogenesis including intramembranous and endochondral ossifications. Runx2 (Cbfa1/Pebp2αA/AML3) is an essential transcription factor for osteoblast differentiation and bone formation. Murine calvaria and mandible are concurrently undergoing both intramembranous bone and cartilage formations in the early development stage. However the mechanism by which these cartilage formations are regulated remains unclear. To elucidate the effect of FGF signaling on development of cranial sutural catilage and Meckel's cartilage and to understand the role of Runx2 in these processs, we have done both in vivo and in vitro experiments. Alcian blue staining showed that cartilage formation in sagittal suture beings from embryonic state 16 (E16), Meckel's cartilage formation in mandible from E12. We analyzed by in situ hybridization the characteristics of cartilage cells that type Ⅱ collagen, not type X collagen, was expressed in sagittal sutural cartilage and Meckel's cartilage. In addition, Runx2 was not expressed in Meckel's cartialge as well as sagittal sutural cartilage, except specific expression pattern only surrounding both cartilages. FGF signaling pathway was further examined in vitro. Beads soaked in FGF2 placed on the sagittal suture and mandible inhibited both sutural and Meckel's cartilage formations. We next examined whether Runx2 gene lies in FGF siganling pathway during regulation of catilage formation. These results suggest that FGF signaling inhibits formations of sagittal sutural and Meckel's cartilages, also propose that FGF siganling is involved in the proliferation and differentiation of chondroblasts through regulating the transcription factor Runx2.
탄성력이 관계되는 역학적 에너지 보존에 관한 지도상의 문제점과 개선 방안

현행 고등학교 물리 교과서와 대학 일반물리학 교재에 나타난 용수철 진자의 진동에서 역학적 에너지 보존에 관한 기준점 설정의 불명확성과 오해의 소지를 지적하고 이를 해결하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 혼란이 생기는 원인은 근본적으로 좌표 기준, 위치 에너지의 기준 설정에서 나타나는 것으로써 군등장인 경우, 거리에 비례하는 위치 에너지(mgx)이므로 기준을 어디에 잡아도 무방하나 그렇지 않는 탄성 위치 에너지의 경우(1/2)kx^2에는 주의를 요한다. 본 연구는 기준 위치 설정에 따라 위치 에너지 표현식이 다름을 보이고 이를 고등학교 및 대학 일반물리학 수준에서 지도할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. A typical representation of elastic potential energy is (1/2)kx^2, where x represents the distance from the spring's unstratched end point. However, this representation will be correct only in a particular situation that the origin of the coordinate and the reference point of the potential energy are at x=0. Without this condition, the potential representation, (1/2)kx^2, is no longer correct. In this study, the misconceptions found in high school textbooks and university laboratory manual were exemined and presented a improved method to teach elastic potential energy. The generalized form of elastic potential energy with arbitrary reference point in coordinate system as well as potential energy was derived. To adopt this idea in high school level, a graphical method of deriving the generalized form of elastic potential energy was devised.

Mobile networks support the mobility of subnets as well as the mobility of subnets. Node mobility means that the internet connection is sustained while nodes move around. All internet connections are sustained while nodes connected on a subnet move around under the network mobility. We have implemented a mobile network system: MR (mobile Router) and HA (Home Agent) in the linux environment, confirming to the network mobility basic protocol IETF RFC3963. In this paper, we report the implementation experiences. Implementation details and some experimental results are summarized in this paper. With our implementation one can use internet service any time, and anywhere i.e., car, train, airplane, ship, etc.

There are need to develop of merchandise of value added fresh ginseng because of high consciousness level of consumer and enlarge of markets for high quality products. The fresh ginseng after harvest was distributed to farmer partually but in general, it was to market by consigner or wholsaler directly after harvest. There were a high difference on storage period of fresh ginseng in different harvesting seasons. The reduction of value of commodities of fresh ginseng for storage period was caused by decomposition and tender of tissue. The storage temperature was under the freezing point and the packing method was sealing tightly by plastic film. As the quality of fresh ginseng was defined by naked eye, it was difficult to sort the quality of ginseng directly harvest.

Recent medical advances made us to understand the public knowledge. But we don'ts have any study of public knowledge about Plastic surgery. So we made an investigation of the knowledge of Plastic surgery in high school and college students. The survey was conducted to about 7,500 high school and college students in Seoul and small cities around Seoul. The following are the results : 1)As to the Plastic surgery over 60% of the respondents knew it. 2)As to the Plastic surgery female knew more well and knowledges about Plastic surgery were different in region and college course. 3)As to the difference between Plastic surgery and Orthopedic surgery 59.2% of the respondents knew it. 4)As to the operation of Plastic surgery 61.5% of the respondents knew it. 5)As to the operation of Plastic surgery respondents knew following operations in order double eye fold operation, augmentation rhinoplasty, augmentation mammoplasty, etc. 6)Plastic surgery operation was done in only 3.1% of respondents.
Streptococcus faecalis의 細胞凝集抗原과 그 Plasmid에 關한 硏究

Several strains of Steptococcus faecalis have been studied for the cell agglutination and their plasmids, including antibiotics resistance. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. Cell aggregation took place in four pairs of culture mixtures including S. faecalis DS-5 and the aggregation response was strongest between S. faecalis DS-5 and S. faecalis ATCC 29200. 2. S. faecalis DS-5 and S. faecalis ATCC 29200 were more resistant to several kinds of antibiotics than other strains tested. Antibiotes resistance of S. faecalis DS-5 was not cured by acridine orange treatment. 3. S. faecalis ATCC 19953 happened to have no plasmid and other strains of S. faecalis had one to four plasmids.

Renal cell carcinoma is the third most common neoplasia of the genitourinary tract. Its most common type, representing 60% of the cases, is the clear cell carcinoma, with an incidence peak between 50 and 70 years. Metastases are present at the time of diagnosis in approximately 30% of the patients, the major sites being lungs, bones, skin, liver, and brain. But distant metastasis of malignant neoplasm to the masseter muscle is extremely rare. We report a case of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) metastasizing to the masseter muscle.
