Linear optimal regulators for finite-dimensional linear time-invariant discrete systems with constant disturbances are designed using the linear quadratic optimization theory. Pseudo-inverse, which minimizes the effect of disturbances in the output, is introduced to determine the feedforward gain of feedback and feedforward controllers. The performance indices of linear optimal regulators and the overshoots and settling times of the responses are compared when weighting matrices are changed. When feedback and feedforward controllers are employed in the model, the effect of constant disturbances in the output is reduced effectively as compared to the case of linear optimal regulators.

This study presents development of an software for process and die design of hot extrusion through square dies. The design of extrusion dies is still an art rather than a science with increasing complexity of shape and thinness of section. Therefore, most of the die design is still dependent on personal judgement, intuition and experience. The objective of this study is to develop an software system which includes a design rule extracted from literatures and experts in the extrusion industry. The system also includes finite element simulation program. The developed system is effectively used to design extrusion processes and dies with lead time and trial extrusion.
Automatic Bottle Air Rinser 개발에 관한 연구

This study has been focused on the development of automatic bottle air rinser. It is designed to rinse clean empty bottles prior to filling. The bottles are automatically indexed beneath an air nozzle that has both a clean airjet and vacuum source. The bottle is first given a burst of clean air to loosen any particles from the wall of the bottle. A vacuum sequence follows which removes all particulates into a self contained filter unit. In order to the provide the desired function, analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using FLUENT and CATIA software. The final results of analysis are applied to the design of automatic bottle rinser and the machine is successfully developed.

The complete or incomplete pole placement in overall closed-loop systems, which are comprised of linear multivariable system and a dynamic output feedback compensator with its poles preassigned, are studied. A program is developed for both complete and incomplete pole placement using Ahmari's algorithm. It is shown that the number of poles to be placed is greater than the number of max (m,l) and min (n, m+l-1) and Ahmari's sufficient condition for complete pole placement is confirmed. Therefore, this method can be used to stabilize any open unstable system and may be extended to the desired design objectives such as minimum overshoot, fast rise time or quick settling time.
Copper billet열간압출의 정상상태 유한요소해석에 관한 연구

This study is concerned with a study on steady-state finite element analysis of hot extrusion for copper billet. The design of extrusion dies is still an art rather than science. Die design for a new extrusion is developed from through in-plant trials. In the present paper, axisymmetric steady-state finite element simulation program is developed. Steady-state assumption is used for both the analyses of deformation and temperature. The developed program is effectively used to simulate two cases of extrusion processes. Distributions of temperature, effective strain rate, mean strain rate and mean stress are studied for an effective design of an extrusion die.
3차원 Bending Machine 설계 및 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구

This study is concerned about the development of a three-dimensional bending machine for heat exchanger. Recently, three-dimensional bending is required for various heat exchangers. The purpose of this study is the design of a three-dimensional bending machine by analysis of bending process, structural analysis simulation, and reliability evaluation of the machine by using a laser interferometer. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using DEFORM and CATLA V5 commercial software. The copper-tube is modeled by shell elements and the machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements and fictitious mass properties to represent the real one. In addition, this machine has attained high accuracy repeatability. In order to improve the accuracy of this machine, the repeatability of feed, rotation, and bending are measured by a laser interferometer. The final results of analysis are applied to the design of three-dimensional bending machine and the machine is successfully developed.
진동 신호를 이용한 캠 프로파일 CNC 연삭기의 실험적 평가에 관한 연구

A cam profile grinding machine is a mandatory machine tool for manufacture of high precision contoured cam. Experimental evaluation of modal analysis is an effective tool to investigate dynamic behavior of a machine. This paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation. The results provide structure modification data for good dynamic behaviors. And safety of the machine was confirmed by the modal analysis of modified machine design. Finally, the cam profile grinding machine was successfully developed.

This study is concerned about the development and performance evaluation of a tower type ATC(Automatic Tool Changer). Recently, many studies have been undergoing to reduce working time in field of machine center. Tower type ATC have been developed to reduce the stand-by time by shortening tool exchanging time. The developed system can store more number of tools in small space. In order to evaluate the performance of tower type ATC, feeding speed and noise are measured by a laser interferometer and a noise level meter.

A machining center is a complex dynamic system whose behavior influences the machining stability and machined surface quality. This paper focused on establishment of a measurement system and experimental study on static, dynamic, and modal analysis of a machining center. The dynamic stiffness result by the analysis showed the weak part of the machining center. The results provided structure modification data for getting better dynamic behaviors.

This paper presents a new optimizing computational algorithm for the on-line control of system voltage and reactive power flow to minimize power transmission losses. The power transmission losses are minimized by the Search method while satisfying the constrained system voltage conditions. The results were shown much more efficiently compared with the conventional method when the computer program was developed using this alogrithm and applied to the model system.
