The purpose of this report is to evaluate effect of Korean medical treatment on idiopathic gonadotropin-dependent precocious puberty (G-DPP) patient received herbal medicine. We administered Aesopjiyoun-tang remedy to idiopathic G-DPP and analyzed the delay effect by hormonal value and radiographs; the height growth effect by measurement of height. After Korean medical treatment, suppression effect to peak- Luteinizing Hormone level (LHL) is 14.39IU/L to 10.9IU/L for 13month, growth effect to height value is 11cm/13month; and change of mean growth velocity (MGV) is 6.08cm/year to 10.06cm/year. The gain in height by treatment is 3.98cm/year. The result suggests Aesopjiyoun-tang can be an effective treatment for G-DPP. Herbal medicine can be used as an alternative treatment in place of the GnRH treatment.
Effects of scoparone on dopamine biosynthesis and L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells

<P>The effects of scoparone on dopamine biosynthesis and L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells were investigated. PC12 cells treated with scoparone at concentrations of 100–200 μM showed a 128–136% increase in dopamine levels over the course of 24 hr. Scoparone significantly increased the secretion of dopamine into the culture medium. Under the same conditions, the activities of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) were enhanced by treatment with 200 μM scoparone for 6–48 hr, but the activity of TH was regulated for a longer period than that of AADC. The intracellular levels of cyclic AMP and Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> were increased by treatment with 200 μM scoparone. The levels of TH mRNA and the phosphorylation of cyclic AMP-response element-binding protein (CREB) were also significantly increased by treatment with 200 μM scoparone. In addition, scoparone at a concentration of 200 μM stimulated the activities of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA), protein kinase C (PKC), and Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>/calmodulin kinase II (CaMK II). Finally, pretreatment with 200 μM scoparone reduced the cytotoxicity induced by L-DOPA (20–100 μM) at 24 hr. These results suggest that scoparone enhances dopamine biosynthesis by regulating TH activity and TH gene expression, which is mediated by the PKA, CREB, PKC, and CaMK II pathways, and protects cells from L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity by inducing cyclic AMP-PKA systems in PC12 cells. © 2009 Wiley-Liss, Inc.</P>

We have studied to apply of a quantity of SBR contained high and domestic tire cord on manufacture tire. The physical teat of compounds and products, the travelling test of manufactures tires teat year had revealed a good results. 1. The physical properties indicated better values than those found is the requirements of military specification. 2. Adheaioti of carcass ply cord showed s good results. 3. The physical properties between 1260 d/2 nylon cord and 840d/2 nylon cord of domestic products be showed similar values and its have a results by 2-3 times then standards.
DNA Topoisomerase Inhibitory Activity of Constituents from the Flowers of Inula japonica

Fourteen compounds were isolated from the flowers of Inula japonica THUNB, (Asteraceae), including two new compounds, (1S, 2S, 4S, 5S, 8S, 10R)-2-acetoxy-4,3-dihydroxy-pseudoguai-7(11)-en-12,8-olide (1) and (1S, 2S, 4S, 5S, 8S, 10R)-2,4,13-trihydroxy-pseudoguai-7(qq)-en-12,8-olide (2), and twelve known compounds, budlein B (3), 6 β-hydroquercetin (9), (-)syrigaresinol (10), quercetagetin 3,4`-dimethyl ether (11), luteolin (12), bri-tanin G (13) and inuchinenolide C (14). Structures of 1 and 2 were determined based on one and two dimen-sional (1D)- and (2D)-NMR data and Mosher`s esterification method. Compounds 9 and 12 showed inhibitory activities toward DNA topoisomerase I with IC<sub>50</sub> values of 55.7 and 37.0μm, resoectively, compared to camp-tothecin (CPT) with an IC<sub>50</sub> of 24.5μm. Compounds 7-9 and 11-14 exhibited more potent inhibitory activity against topoisomerases II with IC<sub>50</sub>values of 6.9, 3.8, 3.0, 6.9, 10.0, 14.7 and 13.8μm, respectively, than that of etoposide (VP-16) with an IC<sub>50</sub> of 26.9μm. Compounds 4-7 and 10-14 exhibited weak cytotoxicities to the selected cancer cell lines.

Background: The utilization of botulinum toxin has rapidly expanded into various aesthetic applications. Achieving success with the aesthetic use of neurotoxins depends on several factors, including an understanding of the anatomy, the methods of dilution and the injection technique. Any guidelines representing a consensus for aesthetic treatments using botulinum toxin type A (BTA) have not been published in Korea. Objective: We wanted to provide consensus recommendations on the treatment of facial wrinkles and benign masseter hypertrophy using BTA in Korean patients. Methods: A panel of experienced Korean dermatologists was convened to develop a clinical consensus. The clinical consensus was comprised of the recommendations of the panel and the guidelines on general issues, such as the reconstitution and handling of the BTA, the procedural considerations, the dosing and injection-site standardizations, and the prevention and treatment of unwanted effects. Specific recommendations were provided according to the area of treatment, including glabellar lines, horizontal forehead lines, lateral periorbital wrinkles and benign masseter hypertrophy. Results: The recommended final concentration of BTA was 50 units/ml (5 units/0.1 ml) after reconstitution with physiologic saline. For glabellar lines, the members recommend three injection points (a total of 8 units). For forehead wrinkles, the members recommend nine injections in two rows into the frontalis with 1 unit/point. For crow`s feet, the members recommend three injections per side (7 units/side) at the lateral part of the orbicularis oculi. For benign masseter hypertrophy, three injections per side (24~30 units/side) were recommended. Conclusion: These consensus recommendations will provide a framework for Korean dermatologists who wish to perform safe and efficacious injection of BTA for facial rejuvenation.
