        Effect of Ni Addition on Toughness and Microstructure Evolution in Coarse Grain Heat Affected Zone

        A Gleeble simulation was performed on low carbon steels to investigate the effect of Ni addition ontoughness and microstructure evolution in coarse grain heat affected zone from low heat input welding. Ni additionincreased the impact toughness at -20 °C and the prior austenite grain size.Microstructures of the lowNi and high Ni steel show noticeable differences in crystallography. Lath-structures in the two can be definedas crystallographic packet. In low Ni steel the packet consisting of acicular ferrite and lower bainite has allthe three Bain groups uniformly distributed; in high Ni steel the packet consisting of only lower bainitehas a dominant Bain group within it, making the other two groups subsidiary. The closely linked M/A particleswere found only in low Ni steel by tracking the orientation information. It is able to facilitate the fracturethrough the link-up of the micro-cracks initiated by each M/A particle. In the going direction of the link-upthere is no high angle boundary which can deflect the propagation of crack, thereby in this case the high angleboundary in low Ni steel is relatively ineffective. The mechanism of the toughness improvement brought by Niaddition should be ascribed to the relatively uniform transformation to final microstructure, which reducesthe appearance of closely linked M/A.

        In situ Synthesis of p–n LaFeO3/ZnIn2S4 Heterojunctions for Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity

        In this study, LaFeO3/ZnIn2S4 composites were synthesized via in situ synthesis. The composition, structure and optical absorption properties of LaFeO3/ZnIn2S4 were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy (PL), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The photocatalytic activity of the LaFeO3/ZnIn2S4 photocatalyst was determined based on the degradation of methyl orange (MO). LaFeO3/ZnIn2S4 composites showed much better photocatalytic performance compared with pure LaFeO3 and ZnIn2S4. The enhanced photocatalytic performance was attributed to intimately contacted interfaces and charge transfer channels which can effectively transfer and separate the photogenerated charge carriers.
