Changyong Yang 한국언어연구학회 2015 언어학연구 Vol.20 No.1
Yang, Changyong. 2015. A Sociolinguistic Study on Language-Mixing: In Case of Korean-Merican Advertising. Journal of Linguistic Studies 20(1), 133-149. The main purpose of the present paper is to investigate the socio-cultural language factors which function as main elements that determine language-mixing in a Korean newspaper circulated in the KAC. The data for this study were drawn from a newspaper which is circulated among bilingual communities in the US in which Korean is widely used and English is also dominant. It is natural that under such conditions the English-mixed rate in advertisements in the newspaper be high, even though the amount of English in advertising varies with social factors. Therefore, an attempt has been made to see to what extent English is used in a bilingual community of an English-based country in terms of sociolinguistic factors. In doing so, it is expected that this study will serve a complementary function to previous studies. (Jeju National University)

This study examines the background and characteristics of the development of K-POP dance, a cultural asset of Korea, and suggests definitions and concepts for terms that are currently used interchangeably. In addition, based on this, this study was proposed to focus on educational value. Above all, as the background of the development of K-pop dance changed to visual music over time, the role of dance became very important, and the process of acceptance and change through overseas dance materials could be found. Three characteristics of K-POP dance were derived as follows. First, it had a ‘compositional feature’ to maximize the visual image as a constituent feature of the dance. Second, it has a “reflection characteristics”, the code of public arts in Korea, which is reflected in the dance are represented. Third, with the advent of YouTube, access to K-POP dance has become more convenient and has the characteristics of ‘spreading through voluntary participation’. In this way, based on the development background and characteristics of KPOP dance, it was judged that it would be appropriate to use the term ‘K-POP dance’ as an independent dance genre. In addition, based on the previous research, K-POP dance was confirmed to have value as cultural art education, value as communication and healing, and educational value as a part of lifelong education. Therefore as an educational program that all generations can enjoy and learn, it was able to prove as a ‘total package dance performance’.
Fundamental Stock Price and Investment

This paper examines the issue of whether a firm's investment decisions respond more to market fundamentals than to bubbles. Using firm level data from COMPUSTAT, we design various proxies for market fundamentals based on (i) the dividend approach, (ii) the dividend smoothing approach, and (iii) the earnings approach. From the aggregated micro data, we find that business investment responds more to market fundamentals than to bubbles. On the other hand, results from the panel regressions are inconclusive since most of the explanatory power of the investment regression is derived from the individual firm specific effect.
