      • 외이도 냉자극이 백서 중이점막의 혈관투과성에 미치는 영향

        The increased vascular permeability is first sign of inflammation and one of the early major sign in otitis media with effusion. The vascular permeability of the tympanic mucosa was observed after stimulation with cold water through the external auditory canal of rats and injection of Monastral blue, using whole mount preparations. Many monastral blue labelled vessels were noted in the pars flaccida and the tympanic mucosa near the office of eustachian tube but not in the pars tensa. The results suggest that cold stream stimulation through the external auditory canal could increase the vascular permeability in the middle ear mucosa of rats and that might be used an animal model to study early pathogenesis of otitis media with effusion.

        This study was intended to examine whether the existing player assessment formulas by the sports game factors sufficiently explained/assessed a quality of games for a high reliability between the calculation-relevant parties in calculating a part of sports game results which impacted the sports player assessment, and to investigate why a difference between the sports game results and an evaluative result of player'ss actual value occurred, This analysis assumed that there was a contradiction in the player assessment for the sports game results, Searching how the players assessment has been done so for and what advantages and disadvantages of assessment are, could be a basis for structuring the assessment model. The model for the study analyzed the Power Ranking Formula per position expressed by Sports Cosun (records×(40/total playing time), Rank ER Index of NBA (ER=A-B/total number of athlete play), assessment formula of KBL's player contribution (assessed score of sports game results =extra score per item - deduction per item), NSP/SP formula of Harder, the contribution formula of Sports Chosun (contribution =points +rebound +assist +steal+ block +defense +minutes]-[error =number of failed shootings]), and ATR formula evaluating the point guard (ATR=assist (error), First, 'Sports Chosun' has the meaning of players comparison per position, but cannot do the relative comparison between positions and doesn't provide an exact mathematical information, Second, ER has a similar computing method to the formula of 'Sports Chosun' except that its mathematical information is more concrete. It is not reasonable method to evaluate all players at the same time, Third, KBL's formula accepted a diversity of assessment methods compared with other formulas, There are factors of addition/deduction even in some section, It attempted to carry out the player assessment such as granting the same weight in a concrete way, However, variables which are absolutely necessary for the assessment of underground results and extension of addition/ deduction need to be generated. Also, an objectivity of weight for a removal of voluntary grant is required, Forth, ATR formula evaluates the part of player's ability, but nobody can know whether the results are influenced by any role, Compared with other formulas, this formula is very improper, Fifth the formula of 'Sports Seoul! is almost consistent to the formula that deducts the weight in KBL formula, It is very similar to the KBL formula except an easy calculation of the formula, Consequently, a careful consideration is required, Sixth the formula of Harder seems to have the save context of flow as the formula of KBL and 'Sports Seoul'.

        Plastic shrinkage is likely to occur when the rate of evaporation exceeds the rate at which the bleeding water rises to the surface. Plastic shrinkage clacking occurs at the exposed surfaces of freshly placed concrete due to consolidation of the concrete mass and rapid evaporation of water from the surface. This leads to the tensile stress and concrete surfaces may crack. This so-called shrinkage clacking is a major concern for mortar and concrete, especially for flat structural such as pavement, agricultural roads, slabs for industrial factories and walls. One of the method to reduced the adverse effects of shrinkage cracking is to reinforce concrete with randomly distributed fibers. The contribution of polypropylene fiber to the plastic shrinkage crack reduction potential of concrete and its evaluation are presented in this paper. The results of tests of the polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete were compared with plain concrete. Results indicated that polypropylene fiber reinforcement showed an ability to reduce the total area and maximum crack width significantly(as compared to plain concrete) .

        Widespread use of BCG has not controlled tuberculosis, and more effective vaccines are clearly needed. Although chemotherapy will remain the mainstay of antituberculosis treatment, the use of adjunctive immunotherapeutic modalitites is attractive, particularly in persons with drug-resistant tuberculosis. Administration of IL-2 or IFN-γto tuberculosis patients enhance bacillary elimination. Cell-mediated immunity is the critical protective immune response in tuberculosis. Mycobacterial antigens are recognized by T cells and that elicit production of protective cytokines are potentially important vaccine antigens. The 30 kDa antigen is secreted in large quantities by growing mycobacteria. That antigen elicits greater proliferation in lymphocytes from healthy tuberculin reactors than healthy tuberculin nonreactors. In this study, the T lymphocyte proliferative responses to 30 kDa antigen from Mycobactrium tuberculosis H37Rv were examined by using tonsilar and peripheral blood lymphocytes from PPD(+) and PPD(-) tonsilectomized persons. When cultured with 30 kD antigen, tonsilar mononuclear leukocytes and T cells of PPD(+) demonstrated more ^3H-thymidine incorporation than PPD(-) persons (stimulation index was 2.5 and 1.9, 0.8 and 1.0, repectively). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and peripheral blood T lymphocytes were shown the similar responses to this antigen. The combination of IL-2 and 30 kDa antigen elicited a significant proliferative responsiveness in tonsilar mononuclear leukocytes and T cells of PPD(+) persons (SI was 20 and 14.1). PBMC and peripheral blood T cells of PPD(+) persons were also shown a significant responsiveness, but PPD(-) persons did not show. These results demonstrate that the 30 kDa antigen and IL-2 have a synergistic stimulatory property in mycobacteria sensitizing lymphocytes.

        Post-traumatic cholesteatoma can be originated in the middle ear or mastoid cavity after head trauma such as temporal bone fracture, penetrating injury of the temporal bone or blast injury of the tympanic membrane. It usually takes a long time to develope cholesteatoma after injury, and physicians may overlook its association with previous, trauma. Post-traumatic cholesteatoma can be suspected in patients with head trauma history and atypical cholesteatoma findings. We experienced two cases of cholesteatoma which found behind the intact tympanic membrane in 7 and 13 years old boys with history of head trauma, and we are reporting this with a discussion and literatural review.

      • Development of QTL-NIL to Blast Resistance Origined from Korean Weedy Rice

        Rice blast caused by the fungal pathogen, Magnaporthe oryzae, is a serious disease affecting yield loss and decreasing its quality in rice production. Rice breeders in Korea have developed many japonica varieties showing resistance to blast. However, the blast resistance in most japonica varieties has broken down within a few years after they were released to farmers because of the spread of new virulent races of M. oryzae. There is the most effectiveness to look for novel resistant gene(s) that can express the resistance to broad-spectrum races in diverse environmental conditions. We identified a major QTL, qLB4.1 linked tightly to RM6352 and RM3643 in 52.6 cM region on chromosome 4 related to the resistance for isolate inoculation and nursery test, and neck blast from a Korean weedy rice, Geumleungaengmi33. This QTL explained 26.1∼28.6% and 45.3∼53.1% of total phenotypic variation by the allele of GL33 for isolate inoculation and nursery test, respectively. A line SR30058(52)-1-1 (Suweon545) that containing the QTL qLB4.1 was developed from Ilpum*4/GL33 by marker-assisted backcross method. This line showed resistant reactions to blast nursery test across regions and years, and resistance to neck blast at the hot-spot field in Jecheon. Suweon545 showed also durable resistance of lower 10% of diseased leaf areas (DLAs) in sequential planting method. This line screened by graphical mapping using 136 SSR markers that evenly distributed on 12 chomosomes. Suweon545 contained GL33 alleles of donor parent in a total of 12 loci (8.8%) including QTL region on chromosome 4. In future, Suweon545 would be useful to develop the broad-spectrum resistance variety in japonica rice breeding program.
