        In elementary schools, the 'FREE-LEARNING DAY' program has very important roles and potential in several aspects in light of the anticipated future situations and social needs in which require various forms and opened approaches for children's learning. Children's motivation and excitement are usually high and so children are apt to learn and retain more on nature than in the classroom. Likewise, many phenomena can be explored in the field that simple cannot be brought into the classroom or laboratory. It was found that most teachers have many difficulties in implementation of the program, mainly because of poor materials, specific guidelines to consult, and self-confidence of themselves. In particular, the real natural environment provides opportunities to encourage children to develope their creative and critical thinking skills essential to problem solving. In addition, when this program is implemented successfully, science teachers can ensure the possibility of achieving the scientific literacy of children. Therefore, the key point is to make certain that children are challenged to conduct their own investigations in realistic problem situations. It should be kept in mind that the desired means and fundamental basis of this program is interdisciplinary, integral approach to learning.

        Efficacy of Serum Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio for Meconium Aspiration Syndrome

        Objective: To evaluate the relationship between serum neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and severity of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 197 neonates who admitted for MAS between 2008 and 2016 at the neonatal intensive care unit of Dong-A University Hospital. The serial changes of NLR were analyzed from 1st to 3rd day of life. The NLR was compared by disease severities (non-invasive respiratory care group vs. invasive respiratory care group and MAS with or without persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn [PPHN]). Results: The NLR values from 1st to 3rd day of life were changed significantly increased and then decreased (P=0.031). The NLR of invasive respiratory care group was significantly higher than non-invasive respiratory care group at 2nd, 3rd, and average of 1 to 3 days of life. The NLR of PPHN group was significantly higher than without PPHN group at 3rd, and average of 1 to 3 days of life. Conclusion: The NLR was significantly increased and then decreased in early stage of MAS and associated with the severity of MAS.

        Utility Evaluation of Information from YouTube on Breastfeeding for Preterm Babies

        Purpose: Many studies have reported the merits of breastfeeding, and increasing efforts are made to encourage breastfeeding for preterm babies. Recently, YouTube is being increasingly used as a source of medical information. We evaluated the quality of information provided on YouTube on breastfeeding for preterm babies. Methods: On June 20, 2018, we performed a YouTube search using four terms related to breastfeeding for preterm babies. Of the 355 videos in the first five pages, 78 were analyzed; videos with irrelevant content (n=200), duplicated material (n=71), and those using another (non-Korean) language (n=6) were excluded. Videos were classified according to upload source and usefulness, and were evaluated based on reliability and quality. Results: Medical websites or TV channels (46.2%) and physicians or hospitals (12.8 %) were the most and least common upload sources, respectively. The usefulness of the information was rated the highest in physician or hospital-uploaded videos (70.0%). The reliability of the physician or hospital-uploaded (2.70±1.42) and medical website or TV channel-uploaded (2.91±1.42) videos were statistically significant. The highest proportion of good quality videos (≥good) (60.0%) comprised physician or hospital-uploaded videos. Of the videos evaluated, 44.9% were useful. The highest proportion of useful videos comprised those uploaded by medical websites or TV channels (68.6%). The highest proportion of non-useful videos comprised civilian videos (80.8%). Conclusion: Physician or hospital-uploaded videos were more useful and had excellent reliability and quality; however, these had the least amount of information. Development of educational programs by experts that can be accessed by public through popular platforms like YouTube is necessary.

        Blockade of p38 Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Pathway Inhibits Interleukin-6 Release and Expression in Primary Neonatal Cardiomyocytes

        The induction of interleukin-6 (IL-6) using combined proinflammatory agents $(LPS/IFN-{\gamma}\;or\;TNF-{\alpha}/IFN-{\gamma})$ was studied in relation to p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and $NF-{\kappa}B$ transcriptional factor in primary neonatal cardiomyocytes. When added to cultures of cardiomyocytes, the combined agents $(LPS/IFN-[\gamma}\;or\;TNF-{\alpha}/IFN-{\gamma})$ had stimulatory effect on the production of IL-6 and the elevation was significantly reduced by SB203580, a specific p38 MAPK inhibitor. SB203580 inhibited protein production and gene expression of IL-6 in a concentration-dependent manner. In this study, $IFN-{\gamma}$ enhancement of $TNF-{\alpha}-induced\;NF-{\kappa}B$ binding affinity as well as p38 MAP kinase activation was observed. However, a specific inhibitor of p38 MAPK, SB203580, had no effect on $TNF-{\alpha}/IFN-{\gamma}\;or\;LPS/IFN-{\gamma}-induced\;NF-{\kappa}B$ activation. This study strongly suggests that these pathways about $TNF-{\alpha}/IFN-{\gamma}$ or $LPS/IFN-{\gamma}-activated$ IL-6 release can be primarily dissociated in primary neonatal cardiomyocytes.

        Measurement of excess enthalpies using a high-pressure flow microcalorimeter and determination of binary interaction parameters for thermodynamic models

        While an equation of state (EOS) plays a critical role in estimating thermodynamic properties, employing it in the determination of binary interaction parameters is extremely important. In general, these parameters can be determined from phase equilibrium data. However, data collection from experiments is a time-consuming and tedious process. In this study, after measuring the excess enthalpies of binary systems containing CO2 by high-pressure flow isothermal microcalorimetry (IMC), we determined the EOS binary interaction parameters, specifically, the Peng-Robinson EOS binary interaction parameters. These binary interaction parameters obtained by IMC were compared with those obtained by vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) experiments. Hence, high-pressure flow IMC appears to be an effective method for the determination of interaction parameters that are used in the estimation of thermodynamic properties. Further, the Flory-Huggins interaction parameters of a binary mixture CO2 containing with various mole compositions were also estimated by employing high-pressure IMC.

        경제가 성장하고 도시가 발전함에 따라 시민들의 경제 활동과 삶을 지원할 수 있는 다양한 인프라도 확충되어야 하며, 최근 국내 공공기관들은 발전사업과 같은 해외 투자사업을 전략적으로 추진해오고 있다. 해외 민간투자사업은 다양한 이해관계자 구조를 가지며, 특히 사업을 주도하는 사업주의 관점에서 사업 초기 단계부터 다양한 이해관계자에서 발생 가능한 문제점들을 파악하고 사업추진을 결정해야만 보다 효과적으로 사업을 진행하고 실패 확률을 저감할 수 있다. 본 연구는 수력발전 투자사업을 수행하는 사업주의 관점에서 이해관계자에서 발생 가능한 위험을 사례 분석함으로써 향후 투자사업 추진시 이해관계자 선임, 협상, 의견수렴, 관리방안과 의사결정과정을 개선하는데 있다. As the economy grows and cities develop, various infrastructures that can support the economic activities and lives of citizens must also be expanded, and Korean public institutions have recently made overseas investments such as power generation. Overseas private investment projects have a diverse stakeholder structure, especially in the perspective of the business owner leading them, to identify and drive the project potential problems from the early stages of the project. This study is designed to identify potential risks for each stakeholder from the perspective of the employer carrying out the hydro-electric investment project and to determine the future stakeholders, negotiations, opinions, and decisions.

      • 해외 투자사업 이해관계자 위험요인 사례도출 연구

        정부는 2000년대부터 지속적으로 물산업의 해외진출을 위한 장려해왔으며, 이에 대표적인 사업주인 한국수자원공사 역시 정부의 정책에 동참하여 해외 투자 사업을 시작하게 되었다. 하지만 투자사업은 국내에서 수행해온 재정사업과 다르며, 여전히 경험하지 못한 많은 이해관계자를 접촉하고 예측하지 못했던 위험에 노출될 수 있다. 해외투자사업 추진시 이해관계자는 금융권에 있는 변호사와 재무 금융전문가들이 프로젝트 파이낸스를 위주로 하여 이해관계자의 업무, 역할 등 실무직원을 위한 교육과 교재로 작성한 사례이며 법 금융 전문가의 측면에서 대출금의 상환기간인 약 10여 년간의 리스크 회피를 위한 연구에 한정되어 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해외 물산업 추진시 수자원개발 부문 사업주의 관점에서 이해관계자에서 발생 가능한 위험을 사례 분석하여 향후 투자사업 추진시 검토할 수 있는 기준을 제안하였다. The government has consistently encouraged the water industry to enter overseas markets since the 2000s, and Korea Water Resources Corporation, a leading business owner, joined the government s policy and launched an overseas investment business. However, investment projects are different from financial projects carried out at home and may still be exposed to unexpected risks and touch with many of the stakeholders they have not experienced. When promoting an overseas investment project, the stakeholders wrote the education and teaching materials for the working-level employees, including the business and roles, based on project finance by lawyers and financial experts in the financial sector. Therefore, this study proposed a basis for the review of possible risks from stakeholders from the perspective of the owner of the water resources development sector when promoting the overseas water industry.
