Performance Analysis of Coordinated Cognitive Radio Networks under Fixed-Rate Traffic with Hard Delay Constraints

Castellanos-Lopez, S. Lirio,Cruz-Perez, Felipe A.,Rivero-Angeles, Mario E.,Hernandez-Valdez, Genaro The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.2

Due to the unpredictable nature of channel availability, carrying delay-sensitive traffic in cognitive radio networks (CRNs) is very challenging. Spectrum leasing of radio resources has been proposed in the so called coordinated CRNs to improve the quality of service (QoS) experienced by secondary users (SUs). In this paper, the performance of coordinated CRNs under fixed-rate with hard-delay-constraints traffic is analyzed. For the adequate and fair performance comparison, call admission control strategies with fractional channel reservation to prioritize ongoing secondary calls over new ones are considered. Maximum Erlang capacity is obtained by optimizing the number of reserved channels. Numerical results reveal that system performance strongly depends on the value of the mean secondary service time relative to the mean primary service time. Additionally, numerical results show that, in CRNs without spectrum leasing, there exists a critical utilization factor of the primary resources from which it is not longer possible to guarantee the required QoS of SUs and, therefore, services with hard delay constraints cannot be even supported in CRNs. Thus, spectrum leasing can be essential for CRN operators to provide the QoS demanded by fixed-rate applications with hard delay constraints. Finally, the cost per capacity Erlang as function of both the utilization factor of the primary resources and the maximum allowed number of simultaneously rented channels is evaluated.

Evaluation of Microbial Load in Oropharyngeal Mucosa from Tannery Workers

Castellanos-Arevalo, Diana C.,Castellanos-Arevalo, Andrea P.,Camarena-Pozos, David A.,Colli-Mull, Juan G.,Maldonado-Vega, Maria Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute 2015 Safety and health at work Vol.6 No.1

Background: Animal skin provides an ideal medium for the propagation of microorganisms and it is used like raw material in the tannery and footware industry. The aim of this study was to evaluate and identify the microbial load in oropharyngeal mucosa of tannery employees. Methods: The health risk was estimated based on the identification of microorganisms found in the oropharyngeal mucosa samples. The study was conducted in a tanners group and a control group. Samples were taken from oropharyngeal mucosa and inoculated on plates with selective medium. In the samples, bacteria were identified by 16S ribosomal DNA analysis and the yeasts through a presumptive method. In addition, the sensitivity of these microorganisms to antibiotics/antifungals was evaluated. Results: The identified bacteria belonged to the families Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonadaceae, Neisseriaceae, Alcaligenaceae, Moraxellaceae, and Xanthomonadaceae, of which some species are considered as pathogenic or opportunistic microorganisms; these bacteria were not present in the control group. Forty-two percent of bacteria identified in the tanners group are correlated with respiratory diseases. Yeasts were also identified, including the following species: Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Candida albicans, and Candida krusei. Regarding the sensitivity test of bacteria identified in the tanners group, 90% showed sensitivity to piperacillin/tazobactam, 87% showed sensitivity to ticarcillin/clavulanic acid, 74% showed sensitivity to ampicillin/sulbactam, and 58% showed sensitivity to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid. Conclusion: Several of the bacteria and yeast identified in the oropharyngeal mucosa of tanners have been correlated with infections in humans and have already been reported as airborne microorganisms in this working environment, representing a health risk for workers.

        The DNA of a Dreamer

( César Castellanos Dominguez ) 한세대학교 영산신학연구소 2013 영산신학저널 Vol.28 No.-

What is the secret to building a great ministry? How can a person enter into the realm of the Spirit and build a truly significant work for God? In this article the author sets out to answer these and related questions by looking at the life and ministry of his mentor, Dr. Yonggi Cho of Korea. From the outset the author gives us the simple, clear answer—dream! We quickly discover the principle that dreams are the language of the Spirit. The article looks at the whole dimension of entering into the realm of the Spirit by faith and prayer, believing God for great and specific things. Dr. Cho’s progress in life and ministry is described including his many impressive achievements as well as the considerable challenges and inevitable low points he has faced. The author also gives us key insights into the nature and characteristics of a dreamer including the way we speak and press on, through adverse circumstances, in order to see the reward for our faith. And here is the final key—any one of us can be someone who moves in the realm of the supernatural, who can see God do amazing things if, like Dr. Cho, we engage with the Holy Spirit and dare to dream.

      • Enabling an Automation Architecture of CPPs based on UML combined with IEC-61499

        Esteban X. Castellanos,Carlos A. Garcia,Cesar Rosero,Carlos Sanchez,Marcelo V Garcia 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

Today"s industry needs to improve the day-to-day control and industrial communications of its processes, which brings it closer to the Industry 4.0 paradigm. To achieve this goal, the IEC-61499 standard is considered as a first step towards the development of agile and intelligent manufacturing systems where distribution, interoperability and re-configuration are the fundamental requirements. However, this standard has many problems as it does not have software tools that are required for an effective design process for distributed control systems. The work presented below details the use of UML diagrams for the implementation of the IEC-61499 standard in low-cost devices that use embedded operating systems for the distributed control of a FESTO MPS 200 system. It is verified that using this type of Diagrams you can create distributed systems in a simple and easy way.

Diagnosis and Integrated Management of Fruit Rot in Cucurbita argyrosperma, Caused by Sclerotium rolfsii

Najera, Jose Francisco Diaz,Castellanos, Jaime Sahagun,Hernandez, Mateo Vargas,Serna, Sergio Ayvar,Gomez, Omar Guadalupe Alvarado,Verduzco, Clemente Villanueva,Ramos, Marcelo Acosta The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2018 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.34 No.3

Fruit rot is the principal phytopathological problem of pipiana pumpkin (Cucurbita argyrosperma Huber) in the state of Guerrero. The aims of this research were to 1) identify the causal agent of southern blight on pumpkin fruits by morphological, pathogenic, and molecular analysis (ITS1, 5.8S, ITS2); 2) evaluate in vitro Trichoderma spp. strains and chemical fungicides; and 3) evaluate under rainfed field conditions, the strains that obtained the best results in vitro, combined with fungicides during two crop cycles. Number of commercial and non-commercial fruits at harvest, and seed yield ($kg\;ha^{-1}$) were registered. Morphological, pathogenic and molecular characterization identified Sclerotium rolfsii as the causal agent of rot in pipiana pumpkin fruits. Now, in vitro conditions, the highest inhibition of S. rolfsii were obtained by Trichoderma virens strain G-41 (70.72%), T. asperellum strain CSAEGro-1 (69%), and the fungicides metalaxyl (100%), pyraclostrobin (100%), quintozene (100%), cyprodinil + fludioxonil (100%), and prochloraz (100%). Thiophanate-methyl only delayed growth (4.17%). In field conditions, during the spring-summer 2015 cycle, T. asperellum strain CSAEGro-1 + metalaxyl, and T. asperellum + cyprodinil + fludioxonil, favored the highest number of fruits and seed yield in the crop.
