Evaluating the complex impact of policy changes on tourism development: The case of Surakarta, Indonesia

        Aji Cahya Nusantara,Michael Volgger,Christof Pforr 한국마케팅과학회 2021 마케팅과학연구 Vol.31 No.4

This paper discusses a recent political transition which led to changes in tourism development of the Indonesian city of Surakarta, and shifted the focus from preserving cultural uniqueness to boosting mainstream tourism infrastructure. The paper investigates impacts of such a fundamental change in tourism development policy and explores how its actions- and results-related impacts are evaluated by stakeholders. In this context, the paper adopts a relativistic stakeholder approach to impact evaluation. Findings reveal that the stark policy shift generated relatively balanced outcome assessments by interviewed stakeholders, although they criticised a lack of involvement in the decision-making process. Overall, this research contributes to impact assessment research by lending support to a relativistic and activity/process-based view. Stakeholder involvement into decision-making not only supports a continuous and critical evaluation due to the presence of a multitude of voices, but seemingly provides a counter-balance to sudden ruptures which characterize political dynamics.

The Impact of Community-Based Forest Management on Local People around the Forest: Case Study in Forest Management Unit Bogor, Indonesia

Nugraha Cahya Fajar,김준순 강원대학교 산림과학연구소 2019 Journal of Forest Science Vol.35 No.2

The issue of sustainable forest management (SFM) continues to emerge as part of the REDD+ mechanism mitigation efforts. Especially for some developing countries, such as Indonesia, forest management is required to provide benefits to the welfare of local communities in addition to forest conservation efforts. This study aims to identify the economic, social, and environmental impacts of community-based forest management (CBFM) implementation activities, which is one of the implementations of SFM at field level. The primary objectives were to find out the impacts of CBFM activities based on local people’s perceptions and to identify what factors need to be considered to increase local people’s satisfaction on CBFM activities. The data from 6 sub-villages was derived through surveys with local people involved in CBFM activities, interviews with a key informant, and supported by secondary data. The results of the study state that CBFM activities have increased the local people’s income as well as their welfare, strengthening the local institution, and help to resolve conflicts in the study area. CBFM has also been successful in protecting forests by rehabilitating unproductive lands and increase forest cover area. By using binary logistic regression analysis, it found that income, business development opportunities, access to forests, conflict resolution, institutional strengthening, and forest rehabilitation variable significantly affected the local people’s satisfaction of CBFM activities.

Development of contextual learning models through collaboration between lecturers, students, and village governments in nursing education

Nikmatur Rohmah,Awatiful Azza,Ilanka Cahya Dewi 한국의학교육학회 2023 Korean journal of medical education Vol.35 No.1

Purpose: This study aims to develop a contextual learning model through a collaboration between lecturers, students, and the village government for nursing education. Methods: This study used a qualitative design. The process of collecting the data was done through focus group discussions with 12 informants representing four stakeholders. There were four focus groups, namely universities, village governments, community health centers, and students. The discussion used open-ended questions that were developed through two parameters, the learning outcomes and learning activities. The data analysis undertaken used thematic analysis specifically. Results: There were 11 grouped concepts found in this study which were able to be divided into three categories. The learning outcome category was formed of four concepts, including attitudes, mastery of knowledge, skills, and values. The learning process category was formed of five concepts, namely learning resources, learning methods and forms, learning media, learning time, and learning subjects. The main sources of contextual learning were found to be programs and maternal and child health (MCH) issues in the village. Techniques and instruments were the two concepts in the assessment category. A collaboration between lecturers and the village government to help students and to provide learning resources in the village integrates the program (MCH) with the learning outcomes. Conclusion: These concepts are the initial framework to help the head of the study program to integrate the MCH programs and cases in the curriculum and to facilitate the contextualization of the knowledge from the nursing students.

Optimum solar energy harvesting system using artificial intelligence

        Sunardi Sangsang Sasmowiyono,Abdul Fadlil,Arsyad Cahya Subrata 한국전자통신연구원 2023 ETRI Journal Vol.45 No.6

Renewable energy is promoted massively to overcome problems that fossil fuel power plants generate. One popular renewable energy type that offers easy installation is a photovoltaic (PV) system. However, the energy harvested through a PV system is not optimal because influenced by exposure to solar irradiance in the PV module, which is constantly changing caused by weather. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique was developed to maximize the energy potential harvested from the PV system. This paper presents the MPPT technique, which is operated on a new high-gain voltage DC/DC converter that has never been tested before for the MPPT technique in PV systems. Fuzzy logic (FL) was used to operate the MPPT technique on the converter. Conventional and adaptive perturb and observe (P&O) techniques based on variables step size were also used to operate the MPPT. The performance generated by the FL algorithm outperformed conventional and variable step-size P&O. It is evident that the oscillation caused by the FL algorithm is more petite than variables step-size and conventional P&O. Furthermore, FL's tracking speed algorithm for tracking MPP is twice as fast as conventional P&O.

        Harahap Ratna Sholatia,Noor Ronny Rachman,Endrawati Yuni Cahya,Darusman Huda Shalahudin,Gunawan Asep 아세아·태평양축산학회 2023 Animal Bioscience Vol.36 No.6

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the polymorphisms of the dopa decarboxylase (DDC) gene and association analysis with lamb quality and expression quantification of the DDC gene in phenotypically divergent Indonesian sheep. Methods: The totals of 189 rams with an average body weight of 24.12 kg at 10 to 12 months were used to identify DDC gene polymorphism using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). Among 189 rams, several rams representing various sheep genotypes were used for an association study between genotypes and phenotypic traits with proc general linear model (GLM) analysis. In addition, the gene expression analysis of the DDC mRNA in the phenotypically divergent sheep population was analyzed using quantitative reverse-transcription PCR. Results: The DDC gene (g. 5377439 G>A) showed polymorphisms that indicated three genotypes: AA, AG, and GG. The DDC gene polymorphism was significantly associated (p≤0.05) with carcass characteristics including carcass percentage, carcass length, hot and cold carcass; physical properties of lamb quality including pH value; retail cut carcass; fatty acid composition such as fat content, pentadecanoic acid (C15:0), tricosylic acid (C23:0), lignoceric acid (C24:0), oleic acid (C18:1n9c), elaidic acid (C18:1n9t), nervonic acid (C24:1), linoleic acid (C18:2n6c), arachidonic acid (C20:4n6), cervonic acid (C22:6n3); and mineral content including potassium (K). The GG genotype of the DDC gene had the best association with lamb quality traits. The DDC gene expression analysis mRNA showed no significant difference (p≥0.05) between lamb quality traits. Conclusion: The DDC gene could be used as a potential candidate gene to improve lamb quality.

        Fitri Utaminingrum,Syam Julio A. Sarosa,Corina Karim,Femiana Gapsari,Randy Cahya Wihandika 한국통신학회 2022 ICT Express Vol.8 No.1

Smart wheelchairs (SW) technology is one of the solutions to help disabled people who do not have a hand or people to help them. Apart from able to move on its own, a smart wheelchair needs to be safe to use. One of the ways to increase SW safety is the ability to detect obstacles. In this study, we tried to create obstacle detection that can classify the stairs descent and floor based on image processing. To achieve our purpose, Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) is used to increase image contrast. After that, Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) is used to extract features from the image. Finally, Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) is used to classify the image. Based on the test result, BPNN achieves results with 95% Accuracy, 95% Sensitivity, 95% Specificity with an average computation time of 0.0035 s.

Harbi Setyo Nugroho,Gema Refantero,Ni Luh Wulan Septiani,Muhammad Iqbal,Septhian Marno,Huda Abdullah,Eka Cahya Prima,Nugraha,Brian Yuliarto 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.105 No.-

The increasing demand for energy in recent decades due to rapid industrial and population growth hasresulted in a heavy dependence on non-renewable energy which leads to environmental problems. Solar energy has emerged as a promising candidate for renewable energy because its sources are unlimitedand do not produce pollutants that damage the environment. Among the different kind of solar cells,CZTS(e) solar cells have the advantage of reaching the Shockley–Queisser limit (SQL) of 30.9% with lowproduction costs, non-toxicity, and abundance of constituent elements. However, the current performanceof CZTS(e) solar cells is still below the commercial performance standard of at least 20%. Thisreview comprehensively addresses the limiting factors that prevent CZTS(e) solar cells from achievingcommercial grade performance. The phenomenon behind the problem will be independently highlightedand explained how it affects performance. Then, various solving methods specific to each problem thathave been carried out during the manufacturing process will be discussed. At the end of this review article,a comprehensive summary and view of the possible future prospects for the manufacture of highefficiencyCZTS(e) solar cells are provided.
